Congress Elections; Interviews Party Presidents

Day 2,229, 09:47 Published in Netherlands Slovakia by Willem The Conqueror

Dear Readers of "The Eye of Tomorrow",

Today I also uploaded an article about the opinion of the Country President about the Congress Elections. This article is about the opinions of the Party Presidents of the other parties. We've asked the same questions to all party leaders.

This maybe is a long article, but it is a great opportunity to read the thoughts of the Party Presidents about the Congress Elections.

The first opinion is from ElGorro the party president of Democratisch Nederland.

1. What do you think of the results of the Congress Elections?
For DemNL we were spoiled with the election results of last month. That gave us more seats that we normally would get. If you compare the results with the elections of October, you see we have the same amount of votes:

Oct - 20 votes - 16,81% voting percentage
Nov - 37 votes - 22,84% voting percentage
Dec - 20 votes - 14,08% voting percentage

Also if you compare 'Government' - 'Opposition', you see an increase in support in the last to months for the 'Opposition', compared to the 'Government':

Month - Government - Opposition
Oct - 68 votes - 51 votes
Nov - 74 votes - 88 votes
Dec - 67 votes - 75 votes

That makes the statement of the President on both DemNL as support for the government, in your previous article, incorrect.

One of the reason was that some GPN members joined VVN to push I&W out of the Top 5. I think the votes of I&W were split between DemNL and Libertas.
So it's a bit of a disappointment to have less seats, but we allready expected less votes than last month.

2. Are you happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
I am always happy with an ingame elected Congress. That Democracy working at best.

3. Is your party happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
Just like already stated in question one. It's a disappointment, but we already expected a loss. Nevertheless, we have four of our finest members in Congress, serving our voters!

4. Do you think you and your party have won or lost during this election? Why?
We lost if you compare with last month, but are stable in number of votes if you know we got additional votes last month, as already explained in question one.

5. With which party would you like to work with in the congress?
We will work together with every party that has proposals to stimulate democracy, freedom, transparency, responsibility and respect

6. Which problems does your party wants to solve?
Our focus is in democracy, freedom, transparency, responsibility and respect. We are always looking for ways to change or improve there.

7. What is your party’s opinion of the eNetherlands?
Focus of the last year or so with most of all GPN governments, were in focus on Private controlled Military Units, what set the State Military Units on a low priority. We think descisions should be made to or abandon them or to organize them properly. Having the Commander of the biggest Private Military Unit as Country President, doesn't remove the responsibility to organize the state Military Units properly.
We made big wins in making the finance more Transparent. Mainly because of motions made by DemNL. We will continue to review the acts of the goverment on this and if needed we will open the debate. But at the moment, we are happy with the measures taken by the Minister of Finance.

8. What are your predictions of the next Congress Elections?
DemNL will work hard to keep the same amount of votes or get a few more. Stabilty is more important than quick member increases for one or two months.

9. Have you got anything left to say to the New Congress?
I wish all Congress Members the best and wisdom in their time in Congress. Don't forget who you are serving there. You are installed there to be the voice of the people, to improve their game.

10. Have you got anything left to say to the citizens of the eNetherlands?
Don't forget eRepublik is a game. Let's try to have some fun together. That doesn't mean we should all unite. Having different parties with different thoughts on stuff is great!

The second opinion is from NoTie112, the party president of Libertas NL

1) What do you think of the results of the Congress Elections?
Well, many surprises this month actually. My party Libertas has lost many votes after recounting due to (probable) multi usage, which is sad. I&W has shown it's power again. DemNL has dissapointed. VVN and GPN are strong and stable.

2) Are you happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
Yes, it's a fair and honest Congress with representives of the actual important political parties. Last month we had some nasty games going on where smaller parties ''suddenly'' were in the top 5 and therefore in Congress.

3) Is your party happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
Yes, Libertas is satisfied with this Congress. Not only for the reasons earlier mentioned, but also because the powerbalance is nicely divided between the different parties/factions

4) Do you think you and your party have won or lost during this election? Why?
Neither won, neither lost. We have remained stable.

5) With which party would you like to work with in the congress?
No real preference, because Congress is mostly a place where common sense prevails. Except for some more controversial issues. Of course, we have our ''natural allies'' in Congress, but that doesn't stop us from supporting a good iniative.

6) Which problems does your party wants to solve?
We think eNL is progressing pretty goo😛 We want to keep that going and expand on that (by guiding more citizens to influential positions).

7) What is your party’s opinion of the eNetherlands?
As said before, the eNetherlands is in a good position right now, although that must be seen relative: We have been occupied and wiped from the map for years now, so this situation is a blessing right now. But it takes some more work to regain the glory of the past.

8 ) What are your predictions of the next Congress Elections?
I think we will not see many differences, but I do think one of the current parties will leave the top 5 for another party, which might have interesting consequences.

9) Have you got anything left to say to the New Congress?
Be active in the discussions and votes and let common sense prevail.

10) Have you got anything left to say to the citizens of the eNetherlands?
You have survived the initial horrible situation you've been in: ''Na het zuur komt het zoet''! Stay with us, invite your friends and help building up the nation, because in eNL, you're not just another citizen.

The third opinion is from MaartenW, the party president of Iron and Wine

1. What do you think of the results of the Congress Elections?
During the day I was worrying about the amount of unknown people that would get into congress for libertas, luckily this was corrected to the election check leaving them with the 4 congress members I know.

2. Are you happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
I am really happy to see the effort that I put into the campaign paying off, I also like that in general the congress members for all parties seem to be active members of the community.

3. Is your party happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
Most of our party is celebrating the successful relaunch of the party and the fact that we have seats again, however there also was a party member that didn’t agree with the way I based the congress list on activity. Oh well, every big change meets resistance and I could have guessed some people wouldn’t be happy that there are no ‘freerides’ anymore based on done deeds.

4. Do you think you and your party have won or lost during this election? Why?
I think I&W and DRP are the only parties that really won during this elections, I&W has risen from 0 to 5 seats and DRP from 1 to 2 seats compared to last term. In our last congress election we had 15% of all votes, now we had 25%!

5. With which party would you like to work with in the congress?
There was a cooperation between DRP and I&W in the election, we will remain in close communication with them. Besides that we won’t really be “working” with parties in congress. In my experience it differs from issue to issue who we agree with.

6. Which problems does your party wants to solve?
In general we would like to solve the lack of community activity within the Netherlands. Because more people in the community > more people having fun > more people staying in the game > more people inviting people > growing population.

7. What is your party’s opinion of the eNetherlands?
We think the eNetherlands still has to come a long way before we can do anything significant in the world, but we will get there eventually. If you want to know more specific I refer to our party program.

8. What are your predictions of the next Congress Elections?
We went from 15 to 25% this election, lets aim for 35% next election!

9. Have you got anything left to say to the New Congress?
Respect SCI, be active on the Congress forum and have fun!

10. Have you got anything left to say to the citizens of the eNetherlands?
Thank you for voting Iron and Wine and have fun eating sandwiches with whatever was left from your Christmas dinners

We also asked a fourth opinion to Weekstrom, he's the party president of Vrij en Veilig Nederland.

1. What do you think of the results of the Congress Elections?
I think we as VVN scored an excellent result. If you take into account the number of members a party has we scored way better than all the other parties. Except for I&W that is but they were supported officially by DRP so virtually had way more members.
Also if you look at the media landscape; All parties are very active on that except for VVN. We focus on the job to be done for eNL and don’t actively do Party Politics. Apparently the people like what we do and like talking/publishing articles less. As they say in some places in the Netherlands; “Geen woorden maar daden” (“No words but actions”) I cannot explain our high number of votes any other way.

2. Are you happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
Any new congress brings the opportunity to grow new talent. It’s hard to tell at this point if that will happen. I have seen very few new names but did spot some old ones that didn’t bring unity. On the contrary I would say. But it remains to be seen what the chosen members will do and how qualified they are for the job. Sadly history has proven several times parties don’t all look at skills of people which results sometimes in CM that don’t seem to have a clue on issues they have to discuss nor seem able to be constructive. The job should be important enough for parties to actually have some specialists for certain aspects of the game in place. Given the percentage of players that needs to get a congress seat in eNL that’s most likely utopia however. We have way to low number of players to actually have the amount of skilled players we would need. If you take into account the fact we have around 200 more or less active players of which we need 30-40 as CM. That’s roughly 15% while in RL only a fraction of the people is. But we’ll see what the new congress will bring. I hope some new rough diamonds will arise or people did grow wiser and proof to be a valuable addition after all.

3. Is your party happy with the new Congress? Yes/No why?
As with question 2; That will remain to be seen. It would be very nice if there would arrive a few extra highly active players as CM with specialist skills. Writing law’s for example as they are on some parts outdated and should be revised. Or some mathematically/financially skilled players to help start-up the much needed Audit Chamber. Or someone that can organise our military again. I myself miss Artemivanov who had a clear vision and did outline a good working military. But that was destroyed 1½ year ago or so by a commander at first in one of the MU’s. That was solved and just when the MU was back on it’s feet again it was destroyed again by an advisor to MoD/CP on the military aspect.

4. Do you think you and your party have won or lost during this election? Why?
We definitely won as explained at point 1. Or look at it differently; When having a total of 40 seats we had 5 CM, now with 30 seats we again have 5.

5. With which party would you like to work within the congress?
We don’t think in parties. We want the best persons for a job and the best solutions for our problems. That may never be blocked due to party politics and I don’t think there is a party we can’t work with.

6. Which problems does your party wants to solve?
The lack of unity. We don’t have the golden pill yet though.

7. What is your party’s opinion of the eNetherlands?
We are a very nice yet very small nation that is way too small to be of any major influence in this game. Furthermore we are way too small to have that many differences as we have now. We should focus on common interest and goals. We need to quit fighting each other as way too much time is lost on that. Time we don’t have as all people active should contribute effectively instead of spending hours on useless debates, accusations and other pointless discussions. We need everyone to work together so we can actually accomplish something! All time lost fighting each other can’t be spend on that.

8. What are your predictions of the next Congress Elections?
The fact we have to many parties is a thread to eNL. I hope I’m wrong but I fear we will soon, perhaps even on the next elections, face a successful takeover of a party and as a result threatening congress as well. How you ask? Well, if a party only has a low number of members it’s quite easy to take over control. Therefore you only need to put an amount of players in a party before congress elections and let them run for congress. Giving the party enough votes will mean it won’t be possible to keep the members out by putting our own players higher on the list. Let alone having the risk of electing a Party President with the wrong intentions. If you followed the news a bit you know we possibly had a situation like that last elections already.
To be clear; I’m not pointing at Thanatos or Lancer here. Thanatos I know for several months now and is a very valuable addition to eNL. In politics and on the field! I had some talks with Lancer and think he is a valuable addition as well. I only wished they didn’t have yet another party but were just member of another party. Five parties is more than enough for eNL and by limiting the amount of parties the takeover thread is less.

9. Have you got anything left to say to the New Congress?
Set aside differences and focus on the goals we have. And please think for yourself on matters that you comprehend and don’t just follow a rule or law if you don’t. No one should feel he needs to know everything. Some matters need specialist skills which you could get after a few months in the game. Or perhaps it’s something that will never be a strong issue for you; Rely on the available specialist in that case.

10. Have you got anything left to say to the citizens of the eNetherlands?
Try to focus on our common goals, not our differences. Have fun doing that. In the mean time stay realistic. As nation with 400 players of on average a low level and low resource bonuses you can’t expect us to fight nations with 8.000 players of high level and high bonuses, nor can you expect a government to pay for your personal expenses.

Well that's it for today, I hope you have read it all. Because I think this is really interesting. As well; tell your opinion in the comments, I really appreciate it if you vote this and my other articles and subscribed on my Newspaper!
