An Irishmans Diary

Day 3,000, 13:36 Published in Ireland South Africa by Dante Boss

Citizens of eIreland,

For the past two months I have watched from the sidelines how the country has transformed. Despite having Mexican citizenship on my account, I am and always will be truely eIrish as it is my home no more than anybody else's. In this article I wish to outline a few things I have observed and provide a my point of view over certain issues both new and old.

For two years I served in eIrish governments. In that time I served as Country President three times, all three times were good terms and we sought to make real changes in the way life was conducted in eIreland. I brought in minimal taxes, I reintroduced National Strikes, I worked on reintroducing national supplies, we boosted our international relations with allies and new countries alike (particularly Macedonia and South Korea). Financial reports were released every so often and in all honesty – the nation was doing well. We were liberating ourselves from occupation, we were making money, we had plenty of allies and the country was active across the board.

I have never been into the roleplay aspect of the game that much, I never rated congress but understood that they needed to be factored into the game more if activity was to be maintained and everyone was to have an interest within the game. That is why alongside MooMooHead we drafted and wrote a Constitution in hope to add more structure and meaning to the game. It was this very Constitution that came back to really bite us in the ass as it was used completely as a political tool to show us off as “cheats”.

We wrote rules and guidelines on how the nation was to function – we wanted everybody to follow them but of course when rules aren’t are a part of game mechanic, they do not get followed all the time. They were broken and manipulated by all parties. We, the then government, broke them in signing an MPP with eMexico which was fully funded my MooMooHead. No protocol was followed, no discussion was had – an MPP was given to Ireland for free, yet opposition still wished to flag this issue. Yes, rules were broken but was the sh1tst0rm that arose from this situation really worth it? In my opinion no, it was nothing but a mere political football. And political football is something that eIreland could have won the World Cup in. As already mentioned, there was no side innocent in abusing the Constitution – a proposal was made to have the nation renamed CrOmegaland and the language of Ireland changed to Croatian. This was pure immaturity and an insult. Croatians had been a longstanding part of eIrish society and we have always had a handful of Croatian players for as long as I can remember. CrOmega had been in Government for two years more or less and the nation was running – there had been hiccups over issues but these things happen. The labelling of them as PTO’ers was nothing but an insult to their work to eIreland. For a “foreign military unit” that joined eIrish society they were loyal and in no way a PTO – those that think so may wish to ask countries which have actually been PTO’d what it’s like. Normally following a PTO, nations are left with nothing and no political say – not in a richer position where democracy is valued.

To sum this paragraph upthe Constitution was designed to make eIreland more inclusive but it only led to further divides as it became a political tool.

However the old Governments were attacked on a lot of issues. We were told there was not enough financial transparency, we were told our governments were of the same people over and over, we were called “elitist”. Yes there could have been more financial transparency but reports were published. Yes, governments were made up of more or less the same people but that is because these people were good at what they did and were the only people willing to do the job. When I was CP, I had asked people if they would work in my Government – the reply: “I will not work for you”. But it was us who was causing divides within society? I see people saying it is great that the Irish community is united now but it was many of these people who fuelled the divide within the community. I tried several times to make peace, to help my opponents out but I was never welcomed. I was labelled as “a cancer” in a reply to me asking an opposition leader in how to fix the civil unrest, at least I tried to make unity for all eIrish a reality, and I tried to make eIreland a place for everybody. I respected democratic wishes and that is fact. Our Governments were attacked and abused unjustly after years of service. What was done by Governments that were so bad? That did not follow democratic wants of the people?

The current governments are no different from what I can gather. There is no financial reports published, it is the same people in governments past two months and both WHS and RTK (depends whose elected) have rather similar cabinets again to the previous governments. Is this not the same elitist behaviour the old Governments were accused of?

Then we can question on the democratic processes undertaken by these Governments. My personal favourite being the PLUTO Referendum. Under the Governments I served, referendums had the vote count published and a list of voters for transparency reasons. This is what the opposition asked of us and it’s what we did. However as soon as the opposition were holding a referendum, they did not publish a vote count, nor who voted. They gave a verdict. When I questioned this I was told it was none of my business due to the citizenship of my account. I can only imagine the articles screaming corruption should it have been the other way around. Denying that it would have been fine if it was my governments that did this is complete lies and we all know that.

Since I mentioned the referendum I might as well now explain my choice to seek eIrelands application to PLUTO be rejected.

For two-three months I had been working with the Governments of United Kingdom, Spain and Belgium in creating a group of nations that did not care about damage but about Brotherhood. This has always been the way I worked my foreign affairs. The group got on well, we were more than just nations playing a game and all governments had a great laugh with one another. We were nothing serious. Yet I still managed to get attacked on my involvement with this project. I was told it was not up to me to put eIreland into an alliance - well the thing is, PLUTO wasn't an alliance at the time. It was allies coordinating. We supported forming an alliance in Government but it was being held off due to hesitation within Spain. However abuse was thrown at me for trying to give eIreland something new and good, again. When PLUTO became an alliance, there was going to be a referendum as that is how we worked. Don't believe me? Look back to Aurora. Don Croata was a founder of that and he held a referendum on whether or not eIreland wanted to join.

So in short, I worked hard to get PLUTO up and running, I was attacked over this work and then those who attacked me seek to join the alliance they attacked me for helping set up? Ok.

I also questioned the loyalty of the current eIrish Government to her allies. Many members of the Government were those who always put their wishes above a greater good for allies. Examples include the dislike of The Treaty of Mayo, which saw me give Macedonia regions for free allowing them a congress after months of occupation. There was members of this Government who fought against the sanctioned South Korean AS on Ireland as they didn't agree with me giving them free regions to allow them a congress also after months of occupation. Then the more recent issue with Canada. Where the current government struck a deal with Canada that saw them get Canada to NE the United Kingdom, effectively shrugging an Irish problem off to the United Kingdom - that is not friendship.

My reasons may be bitter but I stand by them. If eIreland wants to join PLUTO they should prove themselves as good allies, they should actually work to join, not live off the work sowed by their predecessors who they are quick to attack and condemn.

I see so much these days about how Ireland is a better place, how everyone is getting on but is it really a better place? Two players amount for 70% of the damage, the population suffered a drop of around 30-40% yet the current Government celebrates.

You have had no victory, Ireland is in no way better off. You have spent the past two months trying to create a new Constitution, which for two months has been the Governments priority. Congress threads are inactive and there is only maybe 5/6 citizens who have written articles the past two months.

These celebrations are just an illusion, as a nation Ireland has suffered. You are only celebrating as plenty of Irish citizens could no longer feel comfortable in their own home.

I wonder about how those who disagree with you will get on. Only last night I saw Sweet Drinker being questioned over whether it was him or another person using his account due to his opinions.

Is Ireland really united or is it just an "elitist" illusion being portrayed by the same few people? The same people who would have always had power in their respective parties but never on a national level until now? If you look at it really, they've always been elitist within their limitations.

You can decide.

I still and always will love Ireland. I continue to fight for her and her liberation.

Can call me what you want.

Go raibh maith agat.
