[WYD] State of the Two Clicker; Plugson and Weapon Giveaway (Day 5141)

Day 5,141, 06:00 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

Forward…

I was quite humbled by the response to my article last week. I was concerned that people would find a trip down memory lane to be kitschy and of no interest but it seemed to be enjoyed by quite a few folks. Once again I want to thank SantaMann for coming up with a campaign to generate activity and player engagement. I hope you enjoy this installment in my three article series that serves as my contribution as an eCan Winter Olympiad participant.

On Plugson…

In my citizen profile, you will find three links. Two were there when I left the game years ago, the third was added upon my return. These three citizens have had a profound impact on my elife. This topic forms the “golden finger” component of my article, the meat and potatoes if you will, so that you get something more out of this than an inducement for endorsements and comments, but don’t worry, there will be some of that too.

I met Plugson early on in my elife but I didn’t truly get to know him until we collaborated on the Ministry of Opportunity and more importantly the Captains of Industry.

Plugson was a writer, a good writer, he was active in the Writer’s Guild of eCanada and put out great content. He was a player that never sought the limelight. He was rock steady. He spoke up when it was appropriate and he stood up for what he believed in without making a show of it. To this day, he is the most honest player I have encountered in this game and he always acted with integrity.

I was growing frustrated with the political landscape in eCan at the time and saw no major party focused on the economics of game mechanics, including the CPF which I was a member of. I left CPF to start the Ministry of Opportunity (MOO) and fill that void. Beyond the economics of game mechanics, there was a void in eCan in player mentorship. I established a platform for the party based on these pillars or tents. Plugson bought into this strategy and we were familiar with each other based on our e-history in politics and writing. Plugson jumped in an was instrumental in making player engagement happen at MOO. This quickly evolved into an MU that shared the same value but did not require political activity, the the Captains of Industry. We recruited, we made loans to players, we developed slave pits and equipped players with weapons and they ranked up quickly. I had a lot of e-stuff to offer but it was Plugson’s genuine care for other players that made it work and grow and thrive.

Plugson would tactfully rein me in when I was getting too ambitious or zealous about things, he was a true friend, his brother's keeper. I didn’t always listen to him, but I always respected what he had to say. Eventually I flew too close to the sun and burned off my wings, but that is another story. I left eCan for other places, eUS, eIndia, eUK, eTurkey and eSerbia but the important part is that when I returned, Plugson was there and he welcomed me back. That is when I always listened. MOO was gone by then, but COI was still going strong, and we focused on that and making it strong. And it worked. COI is still here today. This is the true tribute to Plugson.

Things were getting toxic in eCan. We were in a cycle of getting wiped off the map and there was so much in-fighting within the country. It took a lot of the fun factor out of the game. Plugson become disengaged. It is difficult to act with integrity and honesty with so much BS going on. We said goodbye, exchanging personal info, and that was the end of his e-life. Not long after, my activity tapered off into nothing. If you don’t have connections in this game, like I had with Plugson, there are less reasons to return each day.

On a Q7 Weapon give away…

I will be giving away 25 baskets, each with 25 Q7 weapons. I ask you to consider reaching out to a new player or an under-levelled player and offering these weapons to them along with a PM offering genuine help or in-game mentorship. The key tribute to Plugson here is the message to the player, the message is how you engage someone, the weapons are secondary.

The baskets will be donated to the first 25 eCan citizens who comment on this article with “Plugson unplugged”.

I don’t play this game on weekends so the baskets will be handed out on Monday.

Shameless Plug, Son

I developed this ending to my articles while Plugson and I were going strong. It was an homage to him and his newspaper and it was a cheeky way to segue into the baseless and shameless appeals for clicks and likes and subscriptions and recruitment and donations as well as links and shoutouts to the things requiring over-communication.

I could really use some $100 cc endorsements as I am not going to medal in this Olympiad based on my strength or rank. I’d be much obliged if you would indulge me with some support, please.

Major props to SantaMann for hosting this Olympiad.

Major props to dillpickl, Exalted Druid, Wilhem Klink, kippers, Napolean54 and Karl004 for their in-game activity and keeping eCanada on the rails and on the map. You players make this game worth two-clicking for.

Above all else, keep your guitar in tune
