Il giocatore che sto per intervistare è uno di quelli che si ama o si odia, nel suo caso generalmente più la seconda. Ma tutti, amici e avversari, gli riconoscono una competenza fuori dall’ordinario nel campo delle relazioni internazionali. Ci siamo conosciuti alcuni anni fa e devo confessare di provare simpatia nei suoi confronti anche se riconosco che a volte dovrebbe moderarsi.
In ogni caso, Gwynbleidd Atlius rappresenta un pezzo delle istituzioni eItaliane in quanto è stato numerose volte candidato CP e vincitore in 3 occasioni, innumerevoli volte MoFA e inventore della figura dell’ambasciatore. Dopo un periodo di inattività politica, è tornato ad essere il MoFA italiano.

La lunga intervista sarà pubblicata in due parti: nella prima si parlerà dell’Italia, nella seconda di eRepublik e degli ambasciatori.

 		The player I'm going to interview is one of those you love or hate, in his case generally plus the second. But everyone, friends and opponents, recognize him as a competence out of the ordinary in the field of international relations. We met a few years ago and I must confess that I feel sympathy for him even though I recognize that sometimes he should moderate himself.
In any case, Gwynbleidd Atlius represents a piece of the Italian institutions as he has been CP candidate and winner on 3 occasions, MoFA and inventor of the figure of the ambassador on many occasions. After a period of political inactivity, he returned to being the Italian MoFA.

The long interview will be published in two parts: the first will talk about Italy, the second about eRepublik and the ambassadors.


Allora Atlius, come va? L’ultima volta che ci siamo sentiti non stavi passando un buon periodo sia in RL che in gioco?

Sì. Sono sparito nell'ultima settimana di mandato, quando ero CP. Ho avvertito i giocatori che mi erano più vicini. Ho spiegato la situazione. Non è bastato purtroppo. Loro stessi sono poi passati dalla parte di coloro che adesso mi chiamano "assenteista". È la vita. Spero che a loro in RL vada sempre tutto bene, glielo auguro.

 So, Atlius, what's up? The last time we talked, weren't you having a good time in both the RL and the game?

Yeah. I disappeared in the last week of my mandate when I was CP. I warned the players who were closest to me. I explained the situation. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough. Themselves then went to the side of those who now call me "absentee". That's life. I hope that everything will always be fine for them in RL, I wish them well.


Invece della solita classica domanda su chi tu sia in RL, ti vorrei chiedere il titolo di un film, di un libro o di un cd e perché l’hai scelto.

Beh come film direi l'intera saga di Star Wars. Mio padre mi avvicinò alla trilogia originaria e devo dire che ho ricevuto tanti insegnamenti sia da lui (mio padre) che da quei film. A 6 anni (età in cui vidi la trilogia per la prima volta) ispirò in me il valore profondo della ribellione, del sovvertimento dello stato di cose presenti che in età più matura mi portarono irrimediabilmente e irriducibilmente al marxismo. Fatevene una ragione 🙂
Per quanto riguarda i libri (ne ho letti davvero tantissimi) devo dire che è dura scegliere ma posso dire che Don Chisciotte e I Miserabili sono i due libri che mi hanno reso quello che sono. E siamo sempre lì: non mi importa quello che mi viene detto, io guardo e leggo la realtà, così come la vita, coi miei occhi e ho un alto senso della giustizia che non si traduce mai in spietatezza. "Ci vuole coraggio a chiamare giustizia il sangue che cola dal patibolo" (questa però non è tratta da uno di quei due libri xD).
Per quanto riguarda il CD direi proprio The Dark Side of the Moon ma anche The Final Cut, entrambi dei Pink Floyd. Mi hanno insegnato a sentire le cose del mondo più che a prenderle come meri enti di un universo di enti. Mi hanno insegnato a guardare al valore intrinseco di tutto quello che esiste nell'universo. A cercare quel valore, perlomeno. Chiamiamola "Essenza".




 Instead of the usual classic question about who you are in RL, I'd like to ask you the title of a movie, a book or a CD and why you chose it.

Well, as a movie, I'd say the whole Star Wars saga. My father approached the original trilogy and I have to say that I have received so many lessons both from him (my father) and from those films. At the age of 6 (when I saw the trilogy for the first time) he inspired in me the profound value of rebellion, of the subversion of the present state of things that at a more mature age brought me irremediably and irreducibly to Marxism. Deal with it 🙂
As the books (I've read a lot of them) I have to say that it's hard to choose but I can say that Don Quixote and The Miserable are the two books that made me what I am. And we are always there: I don't care what I'm told, I look at and read reality, as well as life, with my own eyes and I have a high sense of justice that never translates into ruthlessness. "It takes courage to call justice the blood that runs from the gallows" (but this is not taken from one of those two books xD).
As for the CD, I'd say The Dark Side of the Moon but also The Final Cut, both by Pink Floyd. They taught me to hear the things of the world more than to think of them as mere entities of a universe of entities. They taught me to look at the intrinsic value of everything that exists in the universe. To look for that value, at least. Let's call it "Essence".


In Italia ti conoscono tutti ma questa intervista sarà (spero) letta anche all’estero: vuoi fare una breve presentazione di te in eRepublik a chi non ti conosce?

Sono un giocatore "vecchio" e mi sento addirittura vecchissimo qui su eRepublik. Ho visto di tutto. Quando ero qui da poco tempo sentivo sempre con piacere le storie di ciò che era stato prima della mia eNascita e ne rimanevo affascinato. Ora avrei io molto da raccontare a un nuovo giocatore. Sono stato forse il più controverso personaggio che l'eItalia abbia mai avuto. Sostanzialmente ci sono due tipi di persone: quelle che guardano meramente a quel che dico e quelle che si interessano del perché dico una determinata cosa. Normalmente i primi non mi sopportano, i secondi mi apprezzano anche nell'eventuale disaccordo.

 In Italy everybody knows you but this interview will be (I hope) read also abroa😛 do you want to make a brief presentation of you in eRepublik to who doesn't know you?

I'm an "old" player and I even feel very old here on eRepublik. I've seen it all. When I was here a short time ago, I was always happy to hear the stories of what had been before my eBirth and I was fascinated by them. Now I have a lot to tell a new player. I was perhaps the most controversial character Italy has ever had. Basically there are two types of people: those who just look at what I say and those who are interested in why I say a certain thing. Normally the former can't stand me, the latter also appreciate me in any disagreement.


Stai ricoprendo la carica di MoFA nel governo Titan DC. Se ricordo bene, all’epoca ti schierasti apertamente contro la sua dittatura. Come mai questo cambio di atteggiamento nei suoi confronti? Altra cosa, non ti ha dato fastidio che Titan DC sia stato appoggiato dai tuoi avversari di FdeI alle elezioni?

Ho parlato a lungo in privato con Titan direi anzi che abbiamo lungamente litigato (xD) e lui mi ha assicurato di voler rimediare a ciò che aveva fatto in passato perciò, in onore di quella mia attenzione alla giustizia che non deve essere condanna a morte ho deciso di fidarmi, ho deciso di toccare con mano quello che intendeva e intende realizzare. Giudicherò, alla fine, in totale libertà se ci è riuscito o se almeno ha tentato.
L'appoggio di FDEI non è stato mai discusso. Se io domani mi candidassi e quelli di FDEI mi appoggiassero non potrei averne colpa. D'altronde essere votato da un mafioso, per esempio, non fa del candidato un mafioso. Però ecco, magari indaghiamo che è meglio 😃
In ogni caso no, questa volta si tratta di scelte di partito senza nessuna trattativa.


 You're holding the position of MoFA in the Titan DC government. If I remember correctly, you were openly against his dictatorship at the time. Why the change in attitude towards him? Other than that, didn't it bother you that Titan DC was supported by your opponents of FdeI in the elections?

I talked privately with Titan for a long time and I'd say we've had a long fight (xD). He assured me that he would remedy what he had done in the past so, in honor of my attention to justice that should not be condemned to death I decided to trust, I decided to touch with my hands what he intended and intends to achieve. In the end, I will judge in total freedom whether he succeeded or at least tried.
The support of FDEI has never been discussed. If I applied tomorrow and the FDEI people supported me, I couldn't be to blame. Being voted for by a mafia member, for example, does not make the candidate a mafia member. But here, perhaps we investigate that it is better 😃
In any case, no, this time it's a question of party choices without any negotiations.


Probabilmente non ne puoi parlare liberamente, ma puoi accennare a cosa ha detto Titan per convincerti?

Mi ha detto semplicemente che non andava fiero di quello che aveva fatto e che si era lasciato trasportare dagli eventi. Ha detto che questa volta preferirebbe essere amato piuttosto che temuto e per adesso posso dire di aver conosciuto un ragazzo a posto. Dopodiché ha deciso di chiedermi di fare il MoFA.

 You probably can't talk about it freely, but can you mention what Titan said to convince you?

He simply told me that he was not proud of what he had done and that he had let himself be carried away by events. He said that this time he would rather be loved than feared and for now I can say that I met a nice guy. Then he decided to ask me to be a MoFA.


Torniamo al presente. Conoscendoti, se ti chiedo qual è lo stato dei rapporti dell’Italia con gli alleati e i nemici mi risponderai che sono disastrosi. Come hai trovato la situazione e quali azioni stai intraprendendo?

Come al solito quando torno in carica di MoFA trovo la distruzione più totale. Abbiamo nazioni che mi hanno informato di aver provato per mesi a instaurare relazioni amichevoli senza ricevere mai risposta. Qui si tratta di educazione, nemmeno tanto di "Ministero degli Esteri". Purtroppo l'educazione non la vendono al supermercato. Non vi aspettate miracoli da me, prima di tutto il lavoro di ricostruzione è enorme e in secondo luogo abbiamo così tante altre questioni da affrontare che già rispondere cordialmente a tutti gli interlocutori sarebbe un successo. Se durante il mandato ci sarà tempo e il CP si mostrerà interessato, potremmo anche rimettere in piedi le ambasciate, ma la nostra community deve crescere, e non parlo di numeri, parlo di materia grigia.
Posso dirvi che ho cominciato a parlare con la Turchia, Paese che vorrebbe conoscerci meglio. La politica è un conto, le relazioni amichevoli sono un altro. Di altre relazioni non posso parlare ancora liberamente. Diciamo che stiamo ridefinendo le nostre amicizie, nel senso che dobbiamo tirare le somme e vedere chi ci vuole davvero bene e chi invece ci vede come dei comodi cuscini.
 Let's get back to the present. Knowing you, if I ask you what is the state of Italy's relations with its allies and enemies you will answer me that they are disastrous. How did you find the situation and what actions are you taking?

As usual when I come back in charge of MoFA I find the most total destruction. We have countries that have informed me that they have tried for months to establish friendly relations without ever receiving an answer. This is about education, not even so much about the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs". Unfortunately, they don't sell education at the supermarket. Don't expect miracles from me, first of all the reconstruction work is huge and secondly we have so many other issues to deal with that already answering cordially to all interlocutors would be a success. If during the mandate there will be time and the CP will show interest, we could even set up the embassies again, but our community must grow, and I'm not talking about numbers, I'm talking about grey matter.
I can tell you that I have begun to talk to Turkey, a country that would like to know us better. Politics is one thing, friendly relations are another. I can't talk freely about other relations yet. Let's say that we are redefining our friendships, in the sense that we have to sum up and see who really loves us and who sees us as comfortable buffer.
