The Unity Party: On Respect

My Friends,

I would like to thank the members of The Unity Party for again placing their trust in me as their president.

Normally at this point I'd delve into our successes in the last month, (of which there are plenty, particularly electorally) and look forward to the month ahead. This month i'd like to take a different approach. Many newer players have expressed concerns to me and this is my response.

Anyone that has been in the eUK for long enough will understand that we have a very fractured and at times fractious political scene. Some players are at each other's throats and there are times this genuinely affects some of our citizens.

Every party is to blame and all of us have a responsibility to remember that, despite this being a browser game on the internet, and despite the fact we portray ourselves using pseudonyms and avatars, real people sit behind the keyboards and screens.

Everyone deserves respect, and anyone that chooses to play should expect to be spoken to with respect.

I don't want us to agree on everything. The game is at its very best when we disagree and work hard to prove the other side wrong, or to win. But we don't need to insult each other or descend into bullying while doing so.

I say this to everyone and ask all who read to agree. The internet all too often dehumanises us, but only if we let it. Most parties and most players have wronged each other in the past. But we shouldn't dwell on past mistakes.

Let us move forward, together.

And now for NPF!

Welcome to this week’s edition of New Player Friday! Each week the Ministry of Education will be posting an article filled with useful information and fun for the whole country.

For those that don’t know, every Friday anyone that has signed up to the eUK receives a message welcoming them and giving them a few missions to complete in order to earn some cash. This has been working really well so far and has definitely upped our retention rates.

This will be continuing, with the addition of these articles to help welcome new players into the eUK community at large. One of their missions will be to comment on this article, and I’d like everyone to get involved in welcoming them and getting to know them as and when they do.

We’ll also be posting links to guides and any programs to help new players, like the NHS. If you have a program you’d like us to include then comment below or send us a PM. We’d be delighted to bring attention to any scheme that helps our newer players!

Some of us have been around for a lot longer than these new players, and we’d like to give a couple of incentives to older players to read and participate in these articles too. So with each article there may be games, competitions, challenges and rewards available too. The bigger the buzz and welcome we can create around these articles the better!

As always: Unity is Strength!

Talon Karrde
President of The Unity Party.
