[TBT] The Media Module is Dead Long live the Media Module

Day 2,298, 18:02 Published in USA USA by Bucephalus92

Greetings Bros, I am continuing on with my Throwback Thursday's. First two were a little devoid of substance, heres something with a little more meat. I chose this one because I felt it particularly apt with Gnil trying to revitalize the community. Always remember, no one person can make this a great community, it takes each and every us doing a little bit every day.

P.S I never thought I would miss Finals time. Published originally on day 1,981
Greetings Bros,

How I will be spending the next couple days

When I first joined this game in late 2009 the media module could only be described as thriving (ok flourishing, prosperous, and robust could also be used). There seemed to be no shortage of great articles and new writers popping up everywhere you looked. It was this thriving media module more than anything else that kept me interested in playing this game. Now to be fair this was towards the end of WW III, a babyboom was going on and the Brolliance rising up to overthrow our accursed occupiers made for a fantastic narrative. Add on top of this the fact that the economy module was actually semi-functional and its not really surprising that the media module was as vibrant as it was.

So whats the point I'm trying to get at? Am I simply bemoaning the past? No, well ok I am bemoaning the past, but I would also like to make a few comments about the present and the future. Because while the media module may not be nearly as full of life as it was in the past, that doesn't mean we can give up on it. Now more than ever we each need to do our part to help keep the media interesting and engaging for new players, and so I'm here to tell you that there are a few simple things you can do that will make it better.

1. This is kind of the big one, you have to actually look at articles that aren't in the top five. I know it may not always be interesting, but the newbs writing articles that get 5 votes need your support much more than someone that can regularly by several hundred to a thousand votes.
2. Ok, so you've accidentally purposefully wandered into the non top five, what should you do now? Vote, comment, shout, and subscribe. Why should you do these things?
-Voting is super easy and can help encourage a newb to keep writing, plus its ridiculously easy.
-Comments are another great way to encourage people to keep writing and allow you to provide constructive feedback to people that are just starting out. I know I've always appreciated the comments people leave for me.
-Not everyone can pay for votes, these people need you to help them gain visibility by shouting their articles, plus the shout feed is basically one of the only things the admins have done right in forever, might as well use it.
-Subscribing, again its super easy, so just do it.
3.Alright this is the one that actually requires a bit of work on your part, start your own paper and put out some articles. Maybe you don't think that you don't have anything to write about or writings not your forte but I think there are some of you out there that would be pleasantly surprised by how rewarding it can be. Besides you can always take the easy way out and just post something cool you found on the internet.
EDIT: meant to include this in the initial release, sorry dogpyle.

So thats my spiel for today, as always if you enjoyed this issue of the Bro Paper then don't forget to
