[PN] Interview with... Sir Humphrey Appleby

Day 2,785, 00:14 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Pannonian Nomad

Hi everyone.

Special edition, with our new president, Sir Humphrey Appleby. I would like to use this opportunity to congratulate him on his election result o7 (Results at 7:59 UK time)

Here is what he has to say...

1. Tell us a few words about your real life self.

- I am a humble 22 year old International Relations student up in St Andrews, hopefully on my way to eventually being a history/politics teacher. As my world-star sports career came to an abrupt end when I missed the bus I largely read bollocks books, get drunk with fellow philosophers, feed in DOTA and occasionally resurrect here for the luls.

2. About eRepublik Sir Humphrey Appleby.

- Like a slightly more honest version of the Appleby from Yes, Minister it’s a case of helpin’ out when needed really. eRep Appleby is a 5 year old vampire now, more than enough time to have dabbled in the different areas of the game after the occasional nap in my UKRP coffin. Chiefly my interest is in the games community - you get a lot of good people; balanced by the usual halfwits and multi-armies.

3. How do you see your future in eRepublik? This is your 3rd CP medal, what are your ambitions?

- If there’s a community left that I enjoy the company of then my future is probably with them. We urgently need to start training up new players so that government doesn’t become a generational tradition. Like my rl ambitions I expect my role will be teachin’ the basics and see how people manage when they give things a try.

4. eUK's future (during your term and longterm future)?

- Well for the next term it’s going to be about gettin’ our sodding regions back. It’s a pretty daunting task but if the community is largely united and is at least happy with the effort their government is doing then I think that’s a fair compromise to having no bonuses. We have about 5 weeks left before we probably go bankrupt so if we’re not free by the end of the upcoming term we may have to go cap in hand to our wealthier citizens just to support our MPP stack.

5. eRepublik's future? What would you change?

- They’ve given us a line about starting to listen to us for once - I think if we organised a group of most national governments to start getting ideas from it’s citizens then we could put a lot of pressure for module reform. Personally I’d like to see this dictatorship update to change into a much more versatile set of options for communities to pick according to their own societal structure.

6. Who is your favourite person in eRepublik and why?

- My favourite person on eRep was Emergy Maxfell, p much the definition of altruism here on eRep. Taught me a lot of valuable lessons, both here and in the bedroom…

7. Any person you dislike and why?

- BigAnt. Tried to nick the grant Emergy left us, and did nick lots of people’s money in Huey’s equitable pioneers fund.

8. A few words about your military unit.

- DC has seen a lot of fun over the years. Now it’s just a case of Frag and I competing for the most BH medals a month (I have a better chance of kicking the argies out than ever beating him…).

9. A few words about your party.

- Reform is very laid back in structure - most of us are very mobile and like to keep checks up on our friends in other parties. It’s largely a case of serious silliness at best, though sometimes we do sober up a bit and help run the government when needed.

10. Do you lift?

- I have a part time job keeping the sky up.

11. Your message to the community.

- Thanks fer electin’ me gents o7

Thank you Sir Humphrey Appleby for your answers o7
