[MOO???] Whats in a poll?

After this recent party president election I'm left wondering just what is a poll?
I thought polls were asking a group of people to choose between two or more choices. It would look kind of like this:
The results would come in from that after waiting a day or two, And we could view them. There are many ways to view the results like:
a pie graph:
or a more typical bar graph:
But that's not really what happened is it..... well lets look at Wikipedia for that answer. Wikipedia breaks it down to something much simpler, Polling may refer to "voting" "showing of hands" or an "election".
But there is no reference to how many people are in the election. so by Wikipedia's standard a poll with only one choice, conducted by a showing of hands, is still a poll. Obviously Wikipedia is the true repository of all human knowledge so i cant argue with it.
I still wonder if we can say we had a poll if really all we had was two legitimate candidates step up for candidacy only to have one of those candidates step down because we're scared of some foreigners. This happened even though the point of all of these things happening out of game before the foreigner could even have a chance was to limit the power of said foreigner.
Not really an election, or a poll, just a thread with a guy saying "I'm going to do this" and then 4 or 5 people saying "man that's a good idea".
I searched for a poll. i clicked on every forum, checked every thread. there was no poll. nowhere for me to put a vote on a choice.
and that's kinda sad considering everybody is saying this most recent decision was the unanimous result of a forum poll.

At least someone is willing to speak the truth and not buy into the popularity of the party line.
No real need for a poll of one choice, but it is silly for a player to withdraw because of a threat that the poll itself was meant to subvert. Having an in party poll is sound policy. Extra cheese please on that burger.
Actually, Fuffalo stepped down because he wasn't aware that there was a Forum vote to decide on the "Official Candidate" before the in game vote, and he didn't want to risk the MOO with a vote split and have a PTOer come up the middle.
Maybe in the future you guys should explain to your members what's actually happening instead of having people like Janos and OLloyd exploiting their lack of knowledge for personal gain.
This is why we can't have nice things.

You sure do represent yourself as an authority on matters going on in a forum you don't frequent for a party you aren't a member of.
Fuffalo and OLloyd were in the running and had accepted their nominations. I posted in the thread requesting to see their platforms and asked OLloyd how he was going to deal with the trolling he would get. Fuffalo's next post was to withdraw from the running. Go and check the thread yourself Muglack.
You don't beg people to run for PP. If you have to beg someone to run for PP, they likely have issues that will manifest themself later during their term, when the political pressure or trolling pressure mounts. Fuffalo said he wasn't ready and that "he was green" and would prefer to be in the executive or something.

If someone invited me to vote in a poll with one option, I'd think they had mad cow disease or something. A one choice decision isn't a decision, its an acclamation.

Any member of MOO who criticizes the quality of a candidate that OLloyd is had better take a hard look in the mirror, you could have ran against him. All you had to do was express an interest in running and then we would have had a two option poll.
To be candid, I like the fact Wally ran as a maverick. It required a mobilization of the members to get the vote out, something we haven't had to do because we have always been prequalifying candidates on the forum and having landslide victories in our in-game PP elections. This was a refreshing change.

You're right Addy, I don't know what happened on the forum, but that's doesn't make me wrong.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that the reason Fuffalo dropped out was because he didn't understand the process and thought that by staying in the race he'd split the vote in game.
He thought he'd be running against another "official Candidate" in game and didn't want to split the vote in case there was a PTO'er in the mix so he took the hit and did the right thing and just stepped down so that the party wasn't at risk.
You guys can play it and spin it anyway you want, but that's the God's honest truth.
Are you fuffalo's multi? How do you know this?
Any candidate who assumes that much away without asking questions or digging into the forum or doing more due diligence will get eaten alive in politics.
OLloyd won because he wanted it more and because his supporters wanted it more. Call it elitism, call it grand frere, call it hard work, call it spin doctoring, call it what you will, that is politics.

It truly is amazing how much you've changed since getting the CP medal, and even more after the second one. I don't even think you'd recognize yourself anymore.

I'm not saying we should have had a poll with one person on it.
I'm setting the record strait that there was no poll at all despite constant mention in the media of how MOO is the model party that had a candidate selected BY A FORUM POLL!
So clearly that leads me to question just what MOO considers a poll to be?
When should we expect to see a platform/cabinet for the screamingslave December 10 PP Campaign?
(Seriously. If you wish to see change, make the case on the forum and convince the party it's for the best.)

I don't think anyone is lying about a poll. (at least, I haven't seen evidence of such) OLloyd asked IronToader to start a poll as we were in the last 48 hours before the election and one hadn't yet been started. IronToader, as PP, determined that it was unnecessary with one candidate in the race. The quotation of the By-Laws on Party President Process do mention the forum poll, if that is what you're referring to.
We had just come off a stagnant two-month term by IronToader as PP. OLloyd expressed interest to me that he would like to run. Fuffalo was the only other party member to throw in his hat. Fuffalo was ignorant of the By-Law and didn't know we determined our PP early on the forum election and dropped out. He has been informed and is clear on what to do come December. As we only had one candidate, and no one in the party was willing or felt they could do better, OLloyd (as the last man standing) was the party's choice for PP.
About you running for PP, that was my way of nudging you in the direction of "If you think you can do better, then you run for PP." I wouldn't stress the lying bit, screamingslave. The forum is available for you to check out and easy to see that this is exactly what happened. If you want change, the forum is a great place for you to convince the party and I look forward to hearing from you.
So Janos, by your own admission there was no poll. You must be aware that that by Article 9 of By-Law #3 OLlol must therefore been declared a PTO threat both in the in-game media and shouts.
That also means that sending ATO votes to OLlol was an act of supporting the PTO threat and thus an act of treason.

So long as the party was a movement following the vision and ideas of Addy it was a pretty thoughtful party. Thinking time appears to be over now. Wave the flag, shout and obey. Just another vehicle for the power grab hustled along by the usual kind of characters.
Talk about "polling" at straws Wally. You should file an injunction in Federal court and demand a judicial review.
janos do you read what i'm saying at all? i clearly said that i searched the forum and saw the related posts about what happened. I'm quite well versed in what happened.
