[MoEd] New Player FAQs

Day 2,293, 00:26 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

Before I begin, I want to give you an apology on behalf of the Ministry of Education. It was our original intentions to have two articles out a week, but due to unforeseen and still unknown circumstances, our original Minister could no longer fulfill her duties. As a result, I have been called in to fill in as Minster over the past week. We will have two articles out before the end of the term, including this one.

This article will go over some of the common questions new players have. We want to make sure transitioning into this game is fun and easy. All the options and tasks may seem daunting at first, but we hope this guide will make things more clear and enlighten you on your opportunities as you start your path to greatness.

What is this place?
eRepublik is a virtual world focusing on political, military, and financial interactions on both a national and international level. Reading this, you are most likely in the eUK, which has often played an important role on the international field and is home to both internationally known players and new players like yourself.

How do I make money?
Get a job! Unlike real life, jobs are always available, so unemployment is not a problem. You can apply for a job on the Job Market under the Market tab, and you will automatically get the job once you select it. Jobs will pay you in currency. You can gain gold by reaching achievements/medals. We’ll be publishing an article early next week about each achievement. You can also gain currency by selling items on the marketplace or by fighting in battles that have special combat orders. Finally, you can exchange gold for currency and vice versa at the Monetary Market, also found under the Market tab.

Should I join a Political Party?
If you are interested in getting involved in government, joining a political party is your best bet. The top five parties can elect Congressmembers, although sometimes deals are made to have smaller parties run candidates within the slate of the larger parties. Political parties also run a Country President (CP) every month who then forms a cabinet consisting of active members of the community. You cannot be active in politics without being in a political party. Which party is right for you cannot be answered in this guide, as it is up to you to find which party best represents your views and is best for you. Click here for a list of the top ten parties.

When are Elections?
There are three political elections. Country President elections are held on the 5th of each month, Party President (PP) on the 15th and Congress on the 25th. You can also view results of past elections here.

Should I join a Military Unit?
Military Units (MU) are an effective way of concentrating damage in battles. Daily orders allow people to gain a daily reward of 5 bazooka parts and an energy bar. Many MUs have affiliations with Political Parties, although you do not have to be a part of that party to be in the MU and vice versa. MUs set battle orders that allows fighters to focus on important battles, so joining an MU will be the best way in using your fights.

How do I gain strength?
Use the Training Grounds to gain strength. You can only use the Training Grounds once per day. You can update training grounds to gain more strength per day. Also, you can purchase different types of training grounds to provide additional strength, but this costs gold to use every day. My personal recommendation is to upgrade the free and use the 0.19 gold training ground, as long as you have enough gold to do this. It is best to upgrade only when there are sales. For more info, check out our Training Grounds article.

How do I fight?
The War tab provides a list of current battles in the UK and throughout the eWorld. When you are on a battlefield, all you do is click the fight button. Each fight costs 10 health, and each enemy may take multiple fights to defeat. If you do not have enough health, you cannot fight. For a detailed guide on how to fight, read our recent guide to fighting.

How do I recover health?
You have 500 health, unless you have a bonus that would increase that number. Working, training, and fighting decreases that health by 10 points per action. Recovering health is as simple as pushing a button. Just click the Recover Energy button on the left part of your screen. You must have food or energy bars to restore health. You can recover 10 health every 6 minutes, which comes out to 500 in five hours.

What should I buy on the Marketplace?
While there are many options on the marketplace, the two things you really need are food and weapons. Weapons help improve fighting damage (and you kill your enemies quicker) while food, as mentioned above, recovers health. For food, purchasing the right Quality (Q) of food depends on the prices. For example, is a Q1 food that covers 2 health costs 0.08GBP and a Q5 food that covers 10 health costs 0.36, it is better to buy the Q5 since it would take 5 Q1 food at a cost of 0.40 to cover the amount of health as 1 Q5 food. If you want to move, you do not need a moving ticket, all you need is 20GBP for each zone you go through.

Where are the UK Forums and IRC?
Click here for the UK Forums. Many Political Parties have their own subforums here, and there are discussion sections for politics, general stuff, and much more. There are multiple ways to get on the IRC. Here is one way. The UK has an IRC channel, #euk. Just type in your name and #euk and you’ll be logged in. There are also many other eRepublik related channels. For more info, check out our guide to forums and IRC.

I hope this article has been informative and useful. If you have further questions, feel free to send me a message.
