[MoEd] A Guide to PTOs

Day 2,316, 12:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

Hi there!

I’m sure many of you have seen the recent situation in the eUK regarding the PTOing of two political parties*. Many of you will know the facts and what is going on, but this guide is here for those of you who feel the need to reach a greater understanding of PTOs!

*Party-specific references to the current political situation will be not be made in this article to avoid BAWW

So what is a PTO?

A political takeover (abbr. PTO) is when an individual or group that is hostile to a consensus within a political system or group attempts an often fraudulent seizure of power through elections.

A History of PTOs

Countries

A takeover of a country occurs when a hostile individual who may or may not be part of a larger group becomes Country President and seeks to damage the country or change policies such as the affiliated alliance.

The first PTO identifiable through eRepublik Wiki is that of South Africa by Indonesia. This takeover was successful, although it’s manipulation of Mutual Protection Pacts did result in a major European War.

PTOs which followed included the the rise to power of the Goons in Greece and Turkey, the destruction of Germany from within by Polish radicals and a Romanian takeover of Ireland.

Other countries which have fallen victim to PTOers (those who take part in a PTO) include Mexico, North Korea, Norway, New Zealand, UAE and China.

Parties

Party PTOs are what the eUK is witnessing at the current moment and refer to when a hostile individual who may or may not be part of a larger group becomes Party President and manipulates the group for their own political purposes, not the consensus.

An example of this is the coup of Arbetarepartiet MSAP by Neppoleons Nationalgarde in Swedish party elections. The party was fortunately handed back to the original owners shortly afterwards, as the attempt was made to exhibit weaknesses within the Swedish political system.

ATOs

An anti-takeover (abbr. ATO) is the action taken by an individual or group to restore a PTO’ed system or group to it’s pre-PTO state or the action taken to prevent a PTO in the first place.
