[eNL] Issues of Congress, December '14: "Communication is Key"

Hello citizens of eNL,

Before you read this article i'd like to invite you all to read the following official article by our Chairman of Congress. "LINK"

This month has been my first in congress, it has been the first month I’m active in the political aspect of eRepublik.
Before I was elected as congress member I've promised to inform my political party about the topics discussed in congress.

There have been several official and unofficial articles touching this topic.
With "Fhaemita The Apostate" aka. The Valeyard as new Chairman of Congress an article has been published informing our citizens of the actualities within our country.

As a player I used to enjoy the war module and stick with in game (on erep website) activity. Recently this has changed as I wanted to experience what eRepublik has to offer exploring the Political Module. I did this starting with running for congress. Once I was elected I also started to read threads on our forum. I've always admired the dedications of some eNL players sticking a lot of time into the game and the community. The first few days as congress member were quite calm, nothing happened except for some debates. It would take about 5 minutes twice a day to be actively involved in our politics.

As we all know by now there has been some exciting stuff going on lately.
I'd like to sum up some of the issues discussed by congress members.
* How to solve activity problems within the eNL Community
This has been a phenomenon which affects eRepubik as a whole however we as eNL Congress tried to find ways to create a more active community.
There are many players active on forums and IRC most of which are also active in the political module of this game. There are also many who enjoy this game for its war module and do not care about getting involved in politics. Congress wants to connect these two types of players. My point of view has always been that communication is key to get people involved. This is the main reason I'm writing this article. Many suggestions having both pro's and con's have been discussed last month. None of them were really put to actions because of issues that might arise. The risk factor is very important for a country like eNL which has a small population. I've made several hypothetical statements which were discussed in the DAF feed gaining about 20 replies. This shows that there are active players in our community interested in some sort of direction of our country. Some of these players of course are looking at issues from a political point of view some of them from a war point of view. The fact still remains that in order to gain an active community debates and statements should not only be made on forums or IRC but also on the actual eRepublik website.
We voted for a new Chairman of Congress as mentioned above: Fhaemita The Apostate.
We also voted for a Deputy Chairman of Congress: AndreasIsaksson
* Rewriting the eNL constitution is also a topic currently discussed within congress. With the updates by Plato the game is ever changing and our constitution has to be adjusted accordingly. Writing the constitution in a team however involves creating coherency in order to make decisions. This is still something we are debating about. Who should be involved and how will the constitution be rewritten.
* The actions and impeachment of Lord Jale also started some new debates.
Congress is discussing how we can keep our financial equity safe.
Congress had to vote down several proposals by Lord Jale
Congress has to vote for the impeachment of Lord Jale and relieve him from his position as Country President.

GEN. DE LA REY became our new CP and announced that he would establish a Government of National Unity
* We've recently won back our regions in wNL and sNL due to the fact that ePoland is under attack by e.g. eArgentina. This means that we've become weaker as a nation. With four regions our defence shield will be 25% of its total when an AS is launched in order to invade our lands. Congress is debating about what the best options is to prevent our country from becoming an easy target for the other nations.

Second, our current CP runs a program based on finding a war in order to boost activity and become a real player in the war module. Congress is still searching for economic and political justifiable opportunities.
* Last but not least we've also discussed the governmental supply system within eNetherlands. We've tried to maximize the output and supply of DAF soldiers while also supporting players active in allied private MU's who fight for our cause. Players fighting for eNL can request weapons based on their performance each week.
I hope you're hereby informed about what has been going on in a nutshell.
In order to learn more about the content of these events and debates I suggest you run for congress and actively take part in them.

So far I've been very happy I made to choice to run for Congress and become a Congress Member. I hope my contribution is appreciated, as a new face in the political landscape my fresh ideas can be controversial yet challenging the old way of thinking.
