[DoEE] A Guide to the Markets

Day 2,492, 13:01 Published in Australia Australia by Aus Ministry of Finance

G'day mates. Today I thought I would write a guide to the markets: the market market, monetary market and the job market.

The Market

The market is where you buy all the items you could ever want or need in Erepublik, seen here.

Some of these have drop down quality options as well, such as food and weapons which have varying levels of quality. With this in mind its worth noting you should compare the prices of items before making a purchase.

For example Q1 food is currently worth 0.04cc on the Aussie market. Q2 is worth 0.08cc(average price). Therefore it is actually better to buy the Q2 because, although it costs twice as much, it also provides double the energy. This is better because you get the same energy for the same price but at half the storage cost, meaning the less room you need in storage.

Once you have chosen the item you will find yourself looking at a screen like this:

It will depend and vary on the item of course. To purchase your item simply enter the value you want in the space provided and press buy. Don't worry about having to workout if you can afford it, the game will tell you how much it will cost on the buy button. If you wish to buy the maximum your budget can afford the click in the box then click the arrow. It will then set the value to the maximum you can buy
*WARNING- the maximum is the max you can afford not the max you can store, always check your storage first.*

The Monetary Market

This is more complex than the normal market because it is far more subject to change. It is here that you can buy Gold for Country Currency or Country Currency for Gold, or if you wish sell Gold for Currency or sell Currency for Gold. Believe me or not there is a difference between buying and selling but for now I'll keep it simple, look out for a future article on the tips and tricks of the market.

Buying Gold
So you can buy Gold with currency, which is the first screen you will be met with when you enter the monetary market. It looks like this.

It works like the normal market, enter the amount you want and click buy. *WARNING* You may only a maximum of 10 gold per day this way. You must also work out how much you can buy. Although it will tell you the total cost on the buy button, I would recommend working it out yourself first so you don't spend an age getting it to the amount you can buy.

For example if I had 500cc and wanted to turn it into gold I would do the amount of CC I have divided by the cost of 1 gold. In this case that would be 500÷189.19=2.64 So I will then enter 2.64 into the box and purchase it.

Remember Gold is a strange thing, its price will shift and sometimes very quickly so be aware of that. If you are clever you can make a lot of money out of it, buying gold when it is low then sell it back when it is high.

Buying Currency
This works the same as buying gold but instead you use gold to buy currency. It looks like this:

The price of currency changes less frequently than the price of gold. Again just enter the amount and click buy. This time work out how much you can buy do the amount of gold you wish to use divided by the cost of the currency.
eg. 1÷0.006=166.66 so 1 gold buys 166.66cc.

Selling currency and gold
This is where it becomes a bit more complex and difficult to manage. To sell your currency/gold click the add offer button and select whether you want to sell gold or sell currency. You will be given one of the following drop down options:

Simply input the amount you wish to sell and for how much. Be careful though, selling currency is a long task if you sell at market value and may take several days to actually sell, and selling gold is difficult due to the changing price.

You can make alot of money using to trick called "gold fishing" but I'm afraid you will need a smarter man than me to explain that.

The Job Market

Back to a simple place. Here you can apply for jobs which you then work on the "my companies" page. You cannot quit a job during the first 3 days so choose wisely. The page looks like this:

Simply click the apply button on the highest wage, or specific persons offer if you are going to work for a commune, and you are done. Make sure you work daily and you will be kept on. Miss too many days the boss will likely fire you. A job is the only certain income, unless the boss runs out of money but in my years of playing that has happened twice, so keep looking for higher offers. Don't sit on a 40cc wage if there are 45cc wages.

So that concludes my guide to the markets of erepublik. I hope this has been helpful, please vote/shout and comment any questions you have below.

Got a topic you don't know about? comment below and we will try to help, we may even write an article about it. Remember no topic is a silly topic when you are a young player so ask away.
