[DoCA] Guide to Congress Elections

Day 2,830, 08:07 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Hello good people of eAmerica! MrCarey here, ready to drop some knowledge on you all! Congressional Elections are rapidly approaching, so what better time to go over how the election process works! On the surface, the congressional elections are pretty straight forward. However, there are a lot of determining factors that lead up to the actual congress elections.

The image above can be found in the Community -> Elections section of your navigation menu in eRepublik. This shows the breakdown of where the votes went for previous congressional elections. When the 25th rolls around, this will look very similar with the exception that if you haven’t voted yet, there will be a “Vote” button in the place of the percentages. After you vote, you’ll be able to see the percentage breakdown of the current voting results.

You’ll notice there are only 5 parties showing. This is because only the top 5 parties are permitted to run congress members in-game. Often times, 6th parties will offer votes to top 5 parties in exchange to run some of their members on their congressional list or slate.

So, You’re In a Top 5 Party and Want to Run for Congress

In your political party overview, you’ll see near the bottom this section:

This is where you go to run for congress in-game. Note that some parties have different expectations or requirements to run for congress, so always check with your party leadership on any requirements needed to run beyond just clicking the button that reads Run for Congress.

Once you click that button, the section will look like this:

There is a spot to link your in-game article stating why you should run for congress. If you don’t have one prepared yet, you’ll be able to add it later on. Once you are ready, go ahead and click the Agree button. Once you click that button, you’ll be brought back to the top of your party page, and you’ll see a confirmation that looks like this:

Note that the party president will set the actual order of the candidates.

How Many People Get into Congress?

The number of Congress members in a country depends the on the number of regions it has on the 23rd of the month. If a country has no regions, then they won’t be having any Congress members. On the other hand, if a country does have regions, this is the breakdown of how many congress members they are entitled to.

1 Region - 10 Congress Members

2 Regions - 20 Congress Members

3 Regions - 30 Congress Members

4 Regions - 40 Congress Members

More than 4 regions - 40 Congress Members

More than 40 regions - 40 Congress Members + 1 New seat for each region above 40.

Last month eUSA was allowed 59 congress members because we controlled 59 regions on July 23rd. Each individual party is granted a number of congressmen relative to the percentage of votes gained. For example, American Military Party gained 24.79% of the total votes, so they got 24% of the 59 available seats, resulting in 14 congress members to represent them in congress. The 14 people are chosen based on their position in the list of the proposed candidates. The American Military Party ran more than 14 people, but only people ranked 1-14 were granted a seat in congress. It’s important to have a great article and a good reputation so that you are placed higher on the rankings which will result in better chances of entering into congress.

That’s all I have for you fine people for now. If you have any other questions about how congressional elections work, please either leave them in the comments or get in touch with me.
