[Damhnaic for CP] War & Foreign Affairs

Day 1,990, 15:42 Published in Ireland Ireland by Damhnaic

To my very dearest friends, to my comrades of Ireland,

This is the third article in my Taoiseach Candidacy Campaign.

1. Presentation, Cabinet, and various considerations
2. New Citizens & Community
3. War & Foreign Affairs
4. Final considerations

War & Foreign Affairs

This is a very sensitive subject, but I have nothing to hide and will be very frank in the following wall of text. If people vote for me it'll be for what I believe and not what I want to make them think I believe.

First consideration: This is a war game.

Yes, this is a war game. This is one of the main arguments I hear these days for the promotion of "war for war". But there are subtleties to this war game I would like to discuss.

First of all, what do we need for war?

To my humble knowledge, we need three things to do a successful war.

1. Weapons (either produced or bought, require money)

We have no money. I've been speaking with appleman, the finances are doing horribly, we are balancing between very little bonus and deficit. Yet we've been at war for the last month. I must frankly admit that I won't be, unlike the current president, offering thousands of gold that I'll get from a mysterious source. To win battles we need supplies, and without a generous donator we need a state economy. The only way to make money is to cut spending and invest in the Monetary Market, unless someone want to get his MasterCard and pay thousands of euros to replenish our coffers.

2. Soldiers (either from the country or from foreign allies)

We need soldiers to fight, it is quite obvious. But we have a problem, we are losing our older citizens. Like I said in my previous article, the older citizens are leaving the eCountry (either leaving the game or tired of the community). If we want to keep or soldiers we need an active community and not a permanent shitfest (which was promoted by past CP)

3. Enemy (either as a training war or as true struggles with another nation

A major distinction that must be made is between tensions and pleasure that is supposed to originate from a virtual war or a game. The tension created in eRepublik involves real life feelings, while a virtual war shouldn't. It leaves the state of a "game" and becomes a real source of struggles, stress and tension. While I'm all for a war (when we have money and support), I will never support the volunteer action of creating tensions, of provoking other players for pleasure. For it involves real life feeling, it creates real life tensions and resentment, which is then no longer a game. Taunting and arrogance only promotes such tensions, while a good war can be organised (even if it's not training) without it involving creation of hate and tensions.

Secondly, is war the only solution?

Yes, war is necessary so we can get our medals and ranks. But lately it was seen as an end by itself. "We only need war, it'll solve all our problems". No. No it won't. This games revolves around four modules, Military, Economic, Community (newspapers, MU, Parties, etc), and Politics. While war does satisfy the military scene, and helps the economy, it doesn't improve the community and politics.

In Ireland, our main problems have been on the community scene. We had struggles, we had civil wars. Were they solved by war? No. They were silenced. The word -solved- means it all. Have we looked into the causes and meanings of our struggles? No. People left, we lost valued citizens, others silenced themselves. But the causes aren't solved, problems and struggles will raise again, shitstorms yet again.

So no, War hasn’t solved our problems, in fact it led us to a wipe. We need to work on our community, we need to work on ourselves to make eIreland enjoyable. Yes we need war, it is a part of the solution, but it's not the solution by itself like many believe.

Conclusions of preceding considerations:

I won't be doing the promotion of a continued war with the British. I've had discussion with numerous eUK very active citizens and there was an opening for unconditional peace (because I didn't taunt them, threatened them, because I had DISCUSSION with them and I haven't shown arrogance, unlike ...) You may rest assured, I don't plan paying a penny for our regions.

My idea on all this, if we can solve our problems as quickly as possible on a diplomatic ground, we can save our manpower and resources to help our (also wiped) allies in southern America. What we/they are lacking is manpower against enemies more numerous than we are. If we can solve our problem diplomatically, we'll be able to help them.

Recall of my Cabinet:

Ministry of Defence - Seanan
Ministry of Finance - Appleman
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Minister: Ian E Coleman / Advisor: Ethel Rosenberg / Ambassador program: Raven Anarcho
Ministry of Immigration - Committee: Gerald Smyth / Paddy O’Brian
Ministry of Community - Damhnaic
Ministry of New Citizens - Irasian

Edit: Sadly, Nogin the Nog won't be availble to help during next term.
