[Aries CP] The Road to Revolution
Aries Prime
The Road to Revolution starts with a dynamic change in our allies. Currently we are in a position where we have no clear allies. Our government doesn’t seem to have a list of friends nor can anyone tell me who we are actually allied with. NSPP was a good initiative, but it seems to have ended with the wars with Norway and now no one seems to care. Perhaps that is our fault, perhaps it was only ever a pact of convenience. We are still left with nothing.
My solution to this lack of loyalty and direction on the international scale is simple: We find new allies.
Loyalty
First we must look to strengthen our ties with neighbors that were once friendly or allies to us but are no longer. Norway is a prime example of this. We used to be great allies with Norway under a shared struggle for freedom and security. They fought for us and in return we fought for them. If we look at the situation today, Norway is free while we are not. Sure, they have spells of occupation, but through great FA and a fighting spirit they always pull through. We must look to them for friendship and guidance if we want a more active role in the world.
In addition to Norway we need to look to the old LETO countries. Many of these countries were our friends in the past and they signify the spirit of resistance. Countries like Canada, Portugal, Brazil, all threatened by larger or stronger neighbors but stuck together and managed to pull through. Sure they had trouble from time to time and were occupied, but they never gave up and always managed to free themselves in the end. We have a lot to learn from countries like this if we want to improve our own status.
Then we have our NSPP neighbors. Something has happened in the past months where we are no longer friends or loyal to each other. Germany (Denmark) and Netherlands are still occupied, Belgium is constantly under attack and going through a PTO threat, and the UK is threatened by so many forces they can hardly look past their own borders. I think it is time we made a decision to either create real ties with these countries or move on. We worked very well together during NSPP and we might be able to do it again, but we need to make a conscious decision to work together for freedom. If we can’t revive this old friendship with at least some of these countries into something worthwhile, then it’s time to look elsewhere for friends.
Finally there is Hungary. Hungary is a country I think can become a long term ally. As many have suggested already, there is no way they can stay here forever. If we do reunite with Norway and some of the other old LETO countries, then it is very possible that Hungary will become a strong ally of ours. Right now we face them on our lands because they are interested keeping a land connection with the UK. They want the ability to keep the UK in check if they invade an ally, or to invade the UK themselves. By coming to terms with Hungary and allying ourselves with old LETO countries, we can enter a new beginning for our country with actual weight and strength behind our actions. An alliance with Hungary will end the need for treaties, instead setting up a partnership based on trust and friendship.
I firmly believe our best course of action is branching out into new waters and creating new friendships. Let’s reunite with friends old and new and we can achieve a bright future for our country.
More ideas to come,

GL in your future struggles
Loyalty without bringing damage to the table isn't worth much. Most if not all NL 'tanks' want to get easy BH and TP medals and give no fucks about useful damage.
That will have to change, won't it?
I think we can do as quite easily.
I offered 90 tanks a day to fight along US orders and the large majority didnt join because they wouldnt be allowed to BH elsewhere. If you can change it, it'd be amazing.
We HAVE to change it or the country is lost. Starts here and now.
why can't they BH elsewhere?? special reason?
Perhaps it's an offer from last week when I was off skiing Garmr, but I don't recall an offer like that.
Could even be interesting although I don't know if I would accept it as my loyalty lies with eNL even though I could have a lot of advantages joining another nation and/or foreign MU.
@Weekstrom
I think it was spring of last year, I might not have included you back then. I guaranteed them US and NL military interests largely aligned, and when it would be needed to fight for NL, that there would be permission for it.
@SKYJACKED
They want easy gold, the actual important battles take a lot more damage to get a BH in.
That I recall Garmr although I don't recall it being 90 tanks. That is if you refer to the offer on forum back then. But that required players to join a US MU which for almost all players was and will be a no go. Only a few players join foreign MU's for supplies. And like others I preferred building a strong (relatively speaking ofc) military with our own supplies to make/keep us independent. I still believe thats the way to go although 90 will not be reached here.

We often have orders to help Belgium or the UK... So I wouldn't say they aren't our allies anymore. Definitely our MoD clearly classifies them as our friends.
voted. Finally some vision and commom sence in eNL. With an attitude like this, I'm sure we can find commom ground to cooperate.
Maybe you should keep to eNorway politics and nit interfere in eNetherlands politics
I find the part about eNorway an open invitation, being an eNorwegian politician myself.
He can comment all he likes imo, it's just nonsense to keep being so incredibly spiteful in his obvious attempts to ridicule the 'elites' that drove him away.
Noone drove me away Garmr, I left on my own account because I just couldn't stay and having to fight for the Polish oppressor.
UK and Belgium are our allies but go on be ignorant of the info on the forums and be an uninformed cp candidate.
Canadia ❤ Netherlands!
Interesting read. Though, I am not sure what your plan is for FA after reading it. You say at the end that you support making new friendships, but in the article you present us with several different paths that we could possibly take. o.O
So, what exactly would you be pushing for as CP if elected? Would you attempt to ally with Hungary, Serbia and pro-Asteria countries? Or would you put an effort in revitalising our relationships with the NSPP and the USA? Or are you in favour of just working more with regional partners, including both NSPP and former LETO and Asgard nations such as eNorway and maybe eSweden?
To be honest, I don't see why it has to be either "this" or "that" when it comes to FA. Perhaps you have seen that the UK and Norway have been building a friendship recently. So why would we move on and forget about the UK and the NSPP when Norway (one of the countries you mentioned we could re-build a relationship with) is now allying with them?
I was quite careful with my wording. We don't have to forget about the UK or NSPP but we will need to make a clear position on where we stand in the world. Yes, there are a few paths I present but much of it depends on how we are accepted by other countries. I think you know just how delicate FA can be and much of our future will depend on what friends we can make versus those that would rather not have much to do with us.
The thing with allies is a lot like friendship in RL. Going around and asking people if they want to be your friend means autisms. It's a subtle player-player relationship you build with leaders of other countries, rather than country-country relations, imo.
On the Norway part, they hardly ever fought for us and we for them. I played a significant role in removing Italy by intercepting Italian/Estonian irc convo's, and by directing the damage of the USA there to remove Italy as a threat to Finland.
Talking about friends of the past, I've been in alliance channels and 'friends' with nearly every single country in erep between today and 2009. It's a meaningless expression.
Connections are key. Fortunately we have enough well connected players to scratch something together.
I hope so too, I believe we have a large amount of informal ties that we can benefit from spread over a variety of players.
I wish you good luck sir o7
