[Appleby] In defense of pragmatism / "All these theories but the bodies keep piling up"
Sir Humphrey Appleby
Evenin' gents, will try and keep it brief as am largely knackered
😛
Our national media has exploded recently with wide-ranging suggestions for political reform. Usually this would be a welcome development in the quicksand of eUK entertainment but at this point my 2 pence is that we're all largely missing the point...
Most of us have been here for at least a few years and are well aware that the game itself is going nowhere. The only reason the servers are paid for are quite clear; packs, boosters, all the rest of it - individual strategy has no real place on the actual military front comparatively. And as the current global power structure proves, all is inferior to that collective pay-to-win caste of players.
We can debate endlessly about the optimal structure of governance, a fact we manage to reaffirm to this day. The point is that it means nothing if the average level of participation will remain the same; which I expect it will without a much deeper unification of interests across our community. Survival should probably be up there in priorities.
So if you want to help out, volunteer and do your part. It genuinely is as simple as that...

Yep, people are looking for excuses, instead of participating in the current system (which has worked reasonably well for a while) they want a new system.
That's nonsense, you just don't have the imagination to see any other system working better than the current failing one we have.
I'm doubtful as to whether it's as much the system as the people in it - we can make as much or as little out of the way we do things, it's up to people to get involved.
I'm not saying that the other systems can't work better. What I'm saying is that people haven't taken part for three weeks and instead of looking at what they're doing they're insisting a problem with the entire system. Which worked fine previous months.;
People were quite happy until we got invaded
So someone who is embedded inthe system is saying just go with the system
No this is what we have been doing for ages and look at us
Change is needed somewhere - we dont need the old fag stelling us it ok - its not !
All I see is another oldfag 😛
When have you last worked in a ministry dapper
I work in the ministry of military units ~I do more than most of you. funny how people only pipe up when others want change its clear is not working
Nah we need an oldfag like you telling us things aren't!
This is a very reputable public broadsheet mi'lad
Always obliging for the predicable kickback everytime I offer an opinion bordering on the bloody obvious
and predictably I respond to the wrong bloke
Proof is in the pudding
that it is
That's why I came back!
To help!!!
Am I an oldfag yet?
better question, am I?
and, no
Will be on june 4th
Volunteer for what? Paying to win? After all, you said it in this very article:
"ndividual strategy has no real place on the actual military front comparatively ...all is inferior to that collective pay-to-win caste of players."
Indeed. All the rest of us can do if offer talents that require a brain rather than a credit card

True, though I fear you're failing to realize the true extent of the issue, or wilfully ignoring it for the sake of popularity / seeming to provide a solution.
Even with a dedicated team of eUK, salaried by some rich multi-billionaire crazy who decides to get us all playing 24/7 running eUK PLC; The Play Vs Pay camp are fighting an insurmountable battle. The simple fact of the matter is that someone buying all packs and upgrades, having fully financed each Q of factory is going to be a 1 man army.
I put myself mostly in the Play camp, as I recognise that infrequently buying piles of gold and going through the occasional spat of getting packs is NOTHING compared to the guy who pours money either directly or via hordes of 'friend share' gold.
eRep has matured to the point they can sit back and let the cash roll in, and that's fair enough - wish it was mine. I don't concur that there is any serious danger to eRep, as it's important to consider the whole model.
The people who are happy to dump insane amount of money here, generally have properties that lend themself to a declining community. Note that this is a generalization, attempting to draw conclusions quasi-statistically - not you or some guy you know. They tend to be loners, non-team players, winning is 'god mode' the quiet battlefield is a desert, but that's ok - everyone likes sun and sand right... Being number one matters, you being around to be number 2 matters less.
This is very much a case of eRep going on and dying in some distant future, but it's not going to die before we're all long gone. It'd be akin to making threats to 'God' that Earth is a bit shit and you'll not play anymore.
yep that does describe erep very well.
re-read this after the latest political bollocks, have to agree. We're all fucked in the long run, it's just a case of how defiant we can stand against fate's last call
Friendly bump
how you holding up?
I reread your post and our comment exchange after. Just as relevant today, don't see any change - hmm no - deviance, from the course we were always on. I've just dropped off the pack-buyers top dogs list on eRepBox, now for a managed exit from the party and a walk into the cool fresh air of the night.
alas the world may run out of booze
