One Step At A Time
The goal of a more peaceful world is long at hand, and before that day, I am sure many more battles will be fought. To ensure our survival, and that of our country, we will have to participate. I am not a pacifist, I never said I was. Fighting will be needed, but productive fighting will be the goal. Occupation of a country is unneeded and a waste of gold and time.
Does anybody else ever wonder where all of the gold goes when war stops? You hear about tanks laying downs tons of damage, and armies handing out huge shipments of weapons, but when there is peace, you don't hear much of anything. Sure, the military has overseas operations, but their budget MUST be decreased when no major war is occurring, right? Do they strip from other programs to afford the tanking costs? There must be a solid explanation somewhere, and no way in heck do they get all the extra gold they burn from donations.
This month I will attempt to make a change, however small, by running for congress. Not many people know me, and I can't act on big things alone. When all of the small things are added, we will have a worthy cause. Until then, I am running for congress in the eUSA(If you would like to vote for me, I will be running in Alaska). Things Need to Change(Followup of Does Nothing Ever Change?)
What I am trying to say is that this game is too focused on war, not that we need to remove it completely. Can't we have a time of prosperity without war? The flaw of the capitalist market is depressions, which cycle now and then, the flaw of this game is it cycles conquest and conquered. The only market depression is when you aren't fighting somebody.
The game needs to refocus, and I know it is trying with the V2 release soon, but it is still focused greatly on war, and it needs to focus on other fun things too. Expand politics, return to mayorships, towns & cities, governors of states. Create laws, find ways for companies to try and cheat their way to improve profit and police to try and catch them. Make service jobs and less production jobs. Create standard avatars and age(in non-death ways) and allow service jobs to change it.
The game needs to diversify and stop war development and improve peaceful development. There needs to be a benefit to peace like there is to conquering in war. I am sure this could all be suggested on the forums, but not many people actively support things on the forum, and the suggestion could be backboarded very easily.
Also, people need to actively try to reach these goals, and try to develop countries and themselves peacefully, even without the benefits that war would provide.
War games are an excellent example of peaceful benefits that you don't need to have a huge conquering war for. So are lotteries(although sometimes illegitimate(with police that kind of thing could be changed =P)) and donation drives for hospitals. Maybe add descriptions to infastructure to commemorate a building to somebody or a group of building.
So many things could be done right now, TODAY, without the modifications to the game, to help others and promote prosperous peace, yet people prefer being warlike and destructive.

Does Nothing Ever Change?
I have been away from the game for some time now, and today I received an e-mail. Here is how it went.

Allow me to give you a rundown of what's happening in the eUS.
We are currently at war with the eUK and several of their allies after they had switched alliances and attacked our nation. We are fighting to restore a balance in the world against Phoenix (the new PEACE alliance) alongside our allies. However, our economy's GDP has been going down and we're losing revenue, and active players in the country has been starting to drop a bit. President Josh Frost has put out a call for all old players that can to come back to the game and contribute. We're hoping you will rejoin the eRep community in the eUS, as it would greatly benefit our nation, our economy, and our society. The eUS needs active people to help us continue the fight, and we need active citizens to change the world for the better. I know Americans are the best when it comes to fighting for what's right. Knowing that you'll probably be rejoining the game with low wellness, we have set up a program to get you high Q food to get your wellness back up.

I thought something would have changed while I was gone, I am sadly disappointed. So it's Phoenix now is it? USA finally gave in and joined EDEN? Where did the Brolliance go? Did the eUSA learn nothing from World War 3? Why the heck did we invade England? How long till EDEN falls(and don't give me that 'nevar' crap)?
Here is another one, why are there still people doing that MESSAGE TO EDEN(Interchangeable with Atlantis, PEACE, Phoenix, etc.) crap? Is the eRep community still a bunch of immature people who can't solve their problems like people? They have to go and invade one place or another to prove they are right?
As I said before, I have returned to eRepublik, and I intend to make a difference this time around.

I will be running for congress in Alaska this month.
I myself am suprised I have enough time to run for congress. Although I will be tight on time, I will perform all congressional duties if elected.
If you know my paper, or myself, you may know I highly support the military, I am a former member of the army and a current member of the MI. I also support moderate(5%-10%) import taxes on all resources we have high regions of and 2%-3% for resources we have no high regions of(Diamonds/Iron).
I will add more as time goes by.

A. Fortress
I would work for a Q5 Hosp+DS in Texas OR closing up the Alaska-Washington American Bottleneck with a Fortress(I would reccomend Washington, Alaska under attack would give us a 24 hour period to prepare troops and return from deployments, as well as get Canda involved for a counter if needed, also we could not retreat Alaska if it was stacked(loss of infasstructure) but if Washington was a fort we could.)

B. Income Taxes
All resources/products we have high regions/production of should have a moderate income tax, I would suggest 20%, while all resources/products we have no high regions/production of should have a 50% tax. This would discourage citizens from wasting skill and wellness on resources and items we SHOULD import at a lower cost. It would cut prices on weapons and gifts to use this system.
For manufacturing things we have high regions of should have an income tax of 20%, while guns should have 18% and gifts 25%. This will increase the production of guns and the demand of imported iron, giving people a small incentive to establish foreign companies to import more iron rather than be dependant on foreign companies that sell iron. Gifts are a fairly useless market in the first place, but this will help decrease wasted time and money on the production of gifts, when they should be imported.

Well things have been getting marginally better, but are still very low in the dumps. There is an extremely small chance I will be able to run in the congressional elections at this point, but the CvP Action program is completely out of the question.
I hope the others who helped me in the program read this article as I honestly hardly have enough time to write it, much less write them a personal message about it.
