In addition to just posting a country name in the 'next country to join erepublik' I decided to put a little more effort in convincing the staff to add Luxembourg to the game by handing over a little more worked out idea:
eLuxembourg
Currency: LUF
Regions: Only 1: Luxembourg City
Oil: Low
Wood: Medium
Iron: Medium
Grain: Medium
Daimonds: Low
Citizens Fee: 5 LUF
Minimum Salary: 3 LUF
Income Tax Import Tax VAT
Food: 10% 30% 5%
Gift: 10% 20% 5%
Weapon: 10% 20% 5%
Moving Ticket: 10% 20% 5%
Grain: 10% 30%
Daimonds: 10% 10%
Iron: 10% 10%
Oil: 10% 10%
Wood: 10% 30%
House: 10% 20% 5%
Hospital: 10% 20% 5%
Defense system:10% 20% 5%
To get the economy started i was thinking something like this:
105 Gold and 20.000 LUF, which will be used to create 1 organization: Lux-Org
This organization will contain 5 companies: Lux-Wood, Lux-Grain, Lux-Food, Lux-House, Lux-Aid
This gives the eLuxembourgers a place to work and the start of food production as well as non-competitive labour in the housing and hospital market. (Market is to fragile for these businesses in the first month anyway)
@erepublik admins: Let me know i this will be considered. I'd be happy to help.

Considering that the northern part of Luxembourg is covered be the ardennes, they should have a high supply of wood. Agriculture is also part of Luxembourg's economy. With this country being so small, these advantages won't be world changing. Look at the russian regions if you want to start about rescource-distribution not being fair.
As for the things that I proposed. They are just for the country's smooth take-off point. As soon as the population has moved in and the congress starts running these things can be changed. |

>Considering that the northern part of Luxembourg is covered be the ardennes, they should have a high supply of wood.
In order to determine this, you need to compare your proposed Luxembourg with that of other, already implemented e-nations. You'll quickly find that Luxembourg does not belong with high wood. For instance, neither Belgium nor the Netherlands have high wood. >Agriculture is also part of Luxembourg's economy. Taken from Wikipedia's article on Luxembourg's economy: >Luxembourg's small but productive agricultural sector is highly subsidized, mainly by the EU and the government. It employs about 1%-3% of the work force. Most farmers are engaged in dairy and meat production. They don't deserve high grain. >As for the things that I proposed. They are just for the country's smooth take-off point. As soon as the population has moved in and the congress starts running these things can be changed. That's not how it works in this game. Congress determines these things, not the admins. |

Yes, but i've read topic were people were talking about the fact that Wallonia should also have a higher wood level. The Ardennes don't really cover the Netherlands, so that country doesn't really take part in this discussion.
If you look a little bit further on wikipedia you'd read that the workforce in the Netherlands is no larger then 4%; "A highly mechanised agricultural sector employs no more than 4% of the labour force but provides large surpluses for the food-processing industry and for exports." So you don't really make a point. Every agricultural business in Europe is subsidized because if they weren't, Africa would kick our ass on the market. I don't think you understand why I posted those figures. They are ment as a start of point for when the country is implemented. After that, it can be changed by Congress. What's so hard to understand about that? Lets leave the wood/grain thing in the past. As far as i see it they should be on medium at their lowest. It takes no genius to sense that you are against my proposals, so how would you create a small country with only one region then? |

>So you don't really make a point.
I make a perfectly reasonable point. Luxembourg's agricultural sector is primarily centered around meat and dairy production. They don't belong with high grain. As for wood, even if 99.9% of Luxembourg was covered with forest, they still would not be capable of sustaining high wood production comparable to nations like Brazil, the USA, and Russia. Part of this is due to the small size of Luxembourg, another part is due to its limited manpower. Luxembourg does not deserve high wood. >I don't think you understand why I posted those figures. They are ment as a start of point for when the country is implemented. After that, it can be changed by Congress. What's so hard to understand about that? This is not a difficult concept. The admins do not set things like the tax rates and the minimum wage of a newly added nation. That is all determined by congress. Why should the admins suddenly change their protocol for Luxembourg alone? >It takes no genius to sense that you are against my proposals, so how would you create a small country with only one region then? I support the addition of eLuxembourg. But its obvious that its economy will have to be manufacturing based. It does not deserve to be a high resource region. |

While I agree with everything Kitchen Sink has said, I do think that small countries need some sort of 'edge' to help them survive. They don't have the natural RL population to be successful otherwise.
I think (hope) that the new economic module will give a lot more opportunities and mean that we can finally get all the countries of the world into the game, and each one will have some sort of advantage to draw in players. |
