Latvia is taking over Lithuania to prevent an attack by Poland. When Lithuania reappears it will have an MPP with Hungary.

True, but:
Dainava: Q2 hospital (worthless, probably would have been lost anyway)
Sudovia: Q5 hospital and DS (probably would have been lost anyway)
Highlands: Q2 hospital
Samogitia: nothing
Lithuania Minor: Q5 hospital (has not yet been attacked by Latvia, inaccessible from Poland)
How do you get the figure of 3000 gold loss by Lithuania? The loss is really one Q5 hospital and one Q5 DS, which would probably have been lost anyway if Latvia had not acted.
Lithuania Minor was attacked by Latvia, who then retreated. It still has the Q5 hospital.
Lithuania now has MPPs with Indonesia, Hungary, Argentina, Slovenia and Turkey, in addition to the two already activated against Poland (France, China).
Now that it has the MPPs, it is swapping regions back (Sudovia and Dainava) to remove the access between Latvia and Poland.
