Why Hung(a)ry is losing

UPDATE: Economic war in Romania
~~~~~
A short (strategic and economic) account of why Hungary fell and what we have learned.
Over the past few days we have all seen Cromania winning against Hungary, with the later loosing 3 regions in what were considered damage drain battles. Now, CH is under attack, and it seems that Romania will win. This could be the beginning of a long occupation of Hungary by Cromania (for long time, Romania and Croatia have played as one country, so Cromania will be used for either of these two countries throughout this article).
Although a lot articles were published in the press, most of them were in the comic, "hail-ish", shouting style (see here, here, or here, for some examples. And the question remains opene😛 why did it happen? what we have learned? what is the result?
Why they have lost:
1. Some suggested changes after the strength migration, which gave more advatage to older countries/players, favoring Romania against Hungary. Debatable, but nevertheless, we can see some old Romanian tanks delivering a huge amount of damage/per hit.
2. mihail.cazacu puts forward another hypothesis, blaming the members of Phoenix altogether and seeing a dark future for this alliance, should things not change. its a worth-reading paper, give it some time.
3. Credit cards It doesn't really worth talking about this, it's just the crying of losers blaming anything but their weakness.
4. Lack of resources. You can say it again. LACK OF RESOURCES. I think Hungary lost because they have lost the economical battle. Gold and food became increasingly important for fighting and recovering wellness in this version of the game. With food, you can recover 300 WPs a day, which, although not important for tanks, it is important for the population. For food you need grain, for grain you need a "high region" and when you have one single high grain region and you loose it, you are in deep sh**. Emotions have played an important role here: what was more important for Hungary - to defend the low in-game valued region of Central Hungary, but their highly praised capital*, or defend the only high grain region, the only source of grain for food, and wellness and fighting power? You know the answer. And as "an army is marching on its stomach", CH will be lost. You cannot defend your capital with a hungry army. Hungry Hungary is what Cromania is fighting against. if you check now, the price for grain is highest in Hungary, and the price for food simply exploded. No wonder that their government is crying for help. They need food, they need money, they need resources. An they don't have them. Cromania does. Cromania has cut Hungary's chain of supply and they have left the only hungry. That small "a" does all the difference. just look at the price of grain: the most expensive in the world in in Thailand - 0.00195 Gold. In Hungary is 0.00242 Gold. The price for grain in Hungary is 25% more expensive than is in the next most expensive country.
Important for future: defend your most important economic region! Think with your brain, not with your heart. I guess it is a good strategy to secure resources, either by directly controlling a region, or by founding companies in relatively secured regions and export from there. Romania had lost Transylvania, which many regard as being closest to their heart, but never, never lost Muntenia, the high grain region. And they've never been in the situation of loosing the country, like Hungary does now. They had 7-2 in CTD against Croatia and now is 7-6 (LE Hungary managed to secure CTD, congrats for them, but with the cost of having 0-4 in CH - it seems that the hospitals destroyed by the Croatian attached played a role in Romania's march towards Budapest).
The general tone is of despair in the Hungarian media. I have seen at least 4 articles asking the population not to leave the game.
*A comment by szbszig:
"In fact, the reason why Central Hungary (and not Southern Great Plain) has become the most populous fortified region is that it's the only Hungarian region which does not share borders with Romania or Croatia (and not, or not mainly because the RL capital, Budapest is there)."
PS and I cannot help, being a Cromanian:
Hail Croatia! Hail Romania! Together we shall prevail!
Do I smell fried Serbians?
