Why Being Wiped Isn't The End Of The World

We have 3 countries who are trying to attack us, Canada, Norway and Netherlands. There is a possibility of even more countries joining in the fun. The eUK has fought hard to stop Canada taking East Midlands, and then fight for West Midlands is underway. For the pride of our nation I hope we do not get wiped, but all is not lost if we do. Here are my reasons why being wiped isn't the end of the world.
It Might End Political Arguments
I joined the game and suddenly France, Canada and Ireland where all trying to take our regions. There were almost no national political arguments as we were all working together to free the country. When we decided to go to Azores the political arguments seemed to stop for a short period of time. But all the times in-between we had our country going berserk with claims and arguments. When we are fighting in a war which determines the future of our country, we all get along and work together. If we were wiped I believe we would all work together to undo the mess we got ourselves into.
We Would Get The War Everyone Seems To Want
I keep hearing people say "we need more wars" and "this game is boring, lets fight". If we are wiped we would have a constant stream of resistance wars to fight in. If you wanted a war, then maybe being wiped would be the best option. We will have wars until we are freed.
New Player Retention Might Be Easier
People join this game either thinking it will be a great war game or it will be very social. If we are wiped we will have great battles, and we will be communicating with each other. New players might be interested in staying to free our nation. Think about it, if you join a game and your country is just sitting there doing nothing would you want to play? Or would you want to play a game where your nation is on the brink of disaster, and you must fight with your fellow soldiers to save the eUK? I know which one I would pick...
Media Activity Will Increase
I would say my major media activity would be when we were conquered by three countries. I would say the best articles I've read were during times or war. I would say the majority of articles written by new players that were good were about war. What would you say? Media activity will increase, and we wont have to read political articles all of the time.
New Leaders Will Be Born
War gives the chance for new players to show what they are made of. I recently heard the story of a player called Mark Augersburgh who went onto IRC and supplied the eUK fighters with weapons for fighting Canada... after playing eRepublik for just a day. This is what I mean. When we have war we get new players who want to help out. Maybe if we were wiped we would get more players like Mark helping us out. So, will we see a new prime minister born?
I'm not saying we should switch sides and fight for Canada, or we should just surrender. I believe that we should be fighting for the eUK until fighting stops. I'm just saying being wiped does have it's benefits.

I still don't fancy the idea of being wiped, but it may be better...
As much as I'd like to see it happen,I don't believe that everyone is going to cooperate if we get wiped.They'll be too busy scoring completely pointless political points.

its a proven fact that when a country is wiped its population decrease and less players join up. The economy which already is at a all time low will get worse due to less resources bonuses, also meaning those with companies will leave to make more money else where so wages will drop. Thus meaning even less money be available.
The arguements will increase as there be parties blaming each other and all wanting to do things there way so they can be the new Hero's of the nation.
Being a constant drain to our alliance the UK international view might be worse meaning our position could be under threat at worse and friends less likely to fight for us.
I see no positives to come from being wiped

Ok. I can understand this, if you show me actually evidence I'll believe you. If we weren't wiped when I joined I wouldn't be playing right now.

Most people who are actually making good money from factories aren't in the eUK anyway.

This was not the case when we were wiped for 4 months. If people wanted to become hero's they would be solving the problems, not arguing.

If we don't want to be a constant drain then we just tell our allies not to fight in the resistance wars for a while.

Maybe you mean you see more disadvantages. Try looking at it from a different perspective.
Voted and good article, but I sadly don't see an end to the infighting based on a wipe. Now, everyone's throwing allegations and recriminations around, talking about how if we did X or if X wasn't in power we wouldn't be in this mess. IMO this would intensify if we did get wiped, with all parties trying to score political points.

This is false, I would say that was a darker atmosphere then we have now.

If wiped you can lose congress, thereby losing the ability to transfer money from the country accounts. UK jobs can't be taken up, people have to move regions almost every day, we all produce a significantly lower amount of weapons. Media activity dries up after a while, and retention rates decrease (this is what happened last time). It's very expensive to recover from, as your allies can't fight from abroad in RWs. People assume that the party who led the country was responsible, regardless of how our allies are doing at that point - see Sir Nick.
1 day might be good for the reasons you've given, but more than a week and people start getting bored. It's not going to happen now because TWO are so dominant, but in 6/12 months it will, so we'd better start saving.

I think a wipe CAN be useful but only if it actually causes people to band together as you suggest. A near wipe is much more helpful, like the US going down to just Florida in WW III or when the first attack on London failed and then peace was reached during the Josh Frost Administration (Don't know who the UK PM was at the time.)

We are not going to be wiped but ask any experienced player what its like to be in a wiped country it is bad and kill player retention

He he, I remember time when I joined this this game.I couldn't join MU because we had no regions, every region was in a Resistance War, I looked at the map ten times more often and so on...It was more fun.lol

Trust me, it was not good when France, Ireland, Canada and Germark ganged up on on us for a rapefest. Humiliating and a real turn off for new players
Wipes aren't pretty for retention.
I would also like to propose that there are new (and new-ish) players that are in the UK right now that would make excellent CP's, we just need them to run!
