What is Luna?

What is Luna?

I hear this question quite a lot, and even though I repeatedly point to our maintained wiki entry, there is still a bit of confusion as to what we represent, fight for, how we conduct business, et-cetera.

Luna exists to represent and protect the various independent nations of the eWorld. To quote the Charter, “In the hopes for a brighter future for ourselves and others, we, the nations of Luna, henceforth promise, to the best of our abilities, to protect each other’s nations and communities from threats both external and internal and to, whenever possible, stand up for the rights of independent nations of the eWorld.”

What this means in practice is that we represent the trampled-upon smaller nations of the eWorld. The military module of today emphasizes brute strength, not the slightly more subtle strategy of yesteryear with landswaps, multiple RWs at the same time, and borderless colonies, so our adaption is Luna--a multitude of nations working in concert to provide for each nation’s survival.

This is what separates us from Terra, EDEN and ONE--their goals are more in line with expanding over the globe and defeating their enemies into the dust, where the nations of Luna are more content in trying to keep each of its members and affiliates on the map against the odds, and provide an actual dynamic game, instead of the age-old combatants in Eastern Europe clash again and again over regions that if it were the Real World, would be nothing but craters at this point.

We focus on the defensive, but are not above the offensive as well to serve as a defense. When Belgium invaded the United Kingdom due to auto-attack rules, we still continued to fight, because it sent the message that any nation should have to heavily consider invading a small nation as much as you would a larger one. We are there to provide consequences and tougher battles.

Who is in Luna?
We have 7 official members: Philippines, Malaysia, Israel, India, Switzerland, Austria and Uruguay

However, we also have several affiliates that we talk with on a regular basis, support in battles, or just have good relations with, for various reasons, including Ireland, Venezuela, Taiwan (ROC), and Italy. We’ll try to defend any other country that wants our help and has not eaten any of our other members if asked.

How do you apply to become a part of Luna?
When Foreign Affairs ministers ask me this, I generally tell them: “Hang with us in the government IRC channel, coordinate with us militarily, and get approval from your nation in whatever way is legal for you (Congress Vote, Public Referendum, Presidential Decree, et cetera), submit it to us and we’ll vote you in. We keep it simple for a reason.”

We’re not about making you wait around for several months, putting you on as ‘trial members’ or ‘observers’. If you fight for us, we’ll fight for you.

What are Luna’s policies regarding the other alliances?
What about them? We deal on a country-to-country basis. We are not about to separate the world into black and white--if you are not working against us, we would like to more effectively work on the same side 😉

How is Luna structured?
Luna has only one major position: the Secretary General, who is selected by the member CPs and serves until resignation or removal. The current SecGen is myself, Hekter. The SecGen is mainly responsible for organizing the alliance, and that includes creating other departments like the Luna Military Affairs Office, run by James Ferrin, that coordinates military cooperation and alliance battle priority.

Where may we speak to Luna officials and citizenry?
We are on Rizon now at #Luna and #Luna.military and additional channels if you are government-affiliated, which can be granted on request. As always, shooting us a PM on eRep helps as well as we cannot always be on IRC, see previous question for profile links.

Does Luna have its own military group like EMC?
Not yet, but it is in the pipeline. Coming onto IRC might net you some donated food, but at this moment we have no alliance-specific supplies.

How can I get involved?
Come to IRC, PM myself or James, or urge your government to contact us. We are continually looking to establish good relationships with the nations of the eWorld. To help more specifically, journalists contributing to this paper and other press releases are our biggest need right now, as well as translators. Send me a PM if you would like to help out.

Additionally, if your militia would like to fight with us, be sure to contact James to set you up for priority battles.

Hope to see you out watching the moonrise.

Sincerely,
-Hekter, Secretary General
-James Ferrin, LMAO Director
