Welcome to eUK: A Beginners Guide

Day 373, 08:34 Published in United Kingdom Philippines by HazzN

Dear New Users,

Joining eUK can be daunting. You explode into this strange new world of responsibilities, and unlike RL, you don't have a 18 year child hood to get to grips with things. Of course, Admin try and make life easy for you, and give you a 10 steps guide to getting started. But let me tell you, there is so much more to do.

Step 1: Get a job
As a new comer with no skills or experience, the only jobs you can hope to get are minimum wage type things. Every day you will answer a series of questions. With each correct answer, your productivity increases, making your employer happy. At the end of each quiz, you get paid. Money is good.

Step 2: Eat to live
Your Wellness (that little number under the stick figure representation of your eSelf) tells you how happy you are. When this reaches 0, you die. The higher it is, the higher your productivity becomes. To prevent this number plummeting and taking you to your eventual doom, you must eat. Buy higher rated foods and each day your Wellness will increase.

DO NOT PANIC. Your eSelf feeds themselves automatically each day. Just make sure you have food in your inventory.

However, if your Wellness does drop too low, never fear. Commons has recently introduced the NHS. This will provide people with low Wellness, with gifts. Gifts will make your eSelf happy, increasing the Wellness and possibly protecting you from disaster. You can also buy gifts from the Market, so if you have a friend who is feeling blue, send them a gift to raise their Wellness.

Step 3: Work Hard, Become a Tank
This is something that eRep doesn't tell you so much about. When you reach level 2, you have the option to start training. This is the equivalent of your eSelf hitting the gym. Your strength will increase and you will be able to fight in wars.

"BUT WAIT!" I hear you cry, "eUK isn't AT war."

No it isn't but this is where the players of eUK have been resourceful. If you wish to fight, join the Army.

The Army is run by the MoD, which is elected through the forum. Anyone over Level 3 can join up and kick start their military career.

The Reserves, are a little like the Home Guard. When your strength reaches Level 3, fill in this form:

and you can join the Reserves. These people stay at home, and fight only when war breaks out in eUK. They get supplied weapons and moved from region to region depending where the fights are.

This is perfect for beginners who wish to become Heroes and win medals. Weapons are expensive, and funding your own career will be difficult, but with the MoD paying your way, you can quickly rise through the ranks.

The Paratroopers, are the hard core fighters. When your strength reaches level 5, contact Deilos and he will set into motion your recruitment. Paratroopers can be relocated anywhere in the world where there is war going on. Weapons, Wellness Packages and Moving Tickets are all paid for by the MoD. Basically you get free Battle Experience.

Over time you will be promoted, and you could eventually end up running the MoD yourself!

Step 4: Politics
Not everyone is interested in going to war, and wish to shape eUK in a peaceful democratic way.

Your first job is to choose a party. I myself am a member of The Unity Party. The Wiki has a lot of information about the various parties, and so I shall simply forward you there. Good luck on making your choice.

The Wiki

To get involved in Politics, you really need to join the forum. The forum isn't technically a part of the eRep game, but so much is discussed here that you would be mad not to look in once in a while. Not only do you get a chance to shape your environment, you also become part of the community, turning a game into so much more.

Here, in the forum, all suggestions to improve the nation are discussed by the general public. Every member has a voice, and you can get involved as much or as little as you like. After 48 hours of discussion, a subject can then be raised in the House of Commons. Only Congressmen can post in Commons, but any idea or suggestion you have can be taken to your Local Representative, or your Political Party. Because of this, your views WILL reach parliament, if you voice your opinions.

On top of this, you too can run for Congress yourself. You must be Level 10 and write yourself a Manifesto, but when the elections come around, you may stand. This way you can voice your beliefs and the whole country will listen.

In an ideal world, each of the top 5 parties, will have a representative or two for each region. Then, on election day, you vote for a regional representative. They do not have to be from your own Political Party, you should vote for who you think will do the best job in The House of Commons.

Similarly, you can stand to represent your party, and eventually your country.

Step 5: The Economy

I won't pretend to know anything about Economics, but I do know that if you feel up for the challenge, you can open your own company. This will require money as well as smarts, but eventually you could become a very rich and powerful member of society.

So, in short my advise to you is, JOIN THE FORUM, get involved and enjoy yourself.
