Weekly Power Rankings #7: Border Wars Galore

Day 1,692, 00:04 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (5) Ukraine

Ukraine is looking better and better by the minute, and it's not because they've lost weight. On the contrary, with the momentum and support that they started last week, they've pushed Hungary completely out, and earned a very favorable status quo peace deal with Moldova, expanding a few provinces as a result. With Romania about to seal the Green Menace back in its cave, it looks like a successful defense against two hungry nations.

Week rating: 9.3/10

2 (NR) USA

Amidst all the controversy, the one thing everyone can agree on is that USA knows how to win. Despite a few disappointing displays in various RWs, America has taken Mexico by storm, shooting down so many enemies that even the drug cartel was impressed. Terra is furious for America's plans to betray them, but they can't help but be just a bit worried by the way America has cruised through Mexico.

Week rating: 9.1/10

3 (NR) France

For all the hate I give France, and trust me, I give them a lot of hate, they finally pulled their weight this week, surprisingly beating the UK in many not-even-that-close battles. With Canadian reinforcements on the way, it appears that France has started a full-on conquest of their rivals across the channel. If they're going to win me over, they'll have to put up performances like this often, but a very good start.

Week rating: 8.8/10

4 (NR) Russia

The high ratings continue, as Russia is next to receive accolades. Sweden is a very strong nation, so for Russia to reduce it to little more than a few acres of coast lands is mighty impressive. With their victory, they've completely secured all of Scandinavia (well most) under their control, along with its massive resource pool. Things are looking up for the vodka-lovers.

Week rating: 8.5/10

5 (NR) Albania

Rooting for the underdog is everyone's favorite thing to do, and what better underdog than Albania? Surrounded by three hostile nations bent on crushing them, Albania has managed somehow to not only survive, but expand, capturing southern Montenegro while holding off their larger foes. While most players assumed Albania would be crushed, they've made the most of their awful situation, something worthy of recognition.

Week rating: 8.1/10

Honorable Mentions: Poland, Romania

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Moldova, Estonia

B5 (NR) Indonesia

For a nation surrounded by nobodies, they haven't done much with the godsend given to them. Yes, the most powerful nation away from any real danger has been humiliated by Columbia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. They've lost their entire foothold in South America as well as chunks of Philippine lands, with only a single Malaysian province to show for it. If Indonesia wishes to continue being the force in Southeast Asia, they can't repeat a performance like this.

Week rating: 3.9/10

B4 (NR) Germany

But wait, didn't they RW some of their northern lands back? No, the Polish actually gave those lands back to them. If you consider their poor finish to the Polish-German war, getting crushed in all major battles, it's clear they did not deserve a free pass simply because the Poles were 'generous'. Germany needs to pull itself together and make a push to reclaim its lost glory. And besides, does anyone see the irony in Poland beating Germany?

Week rating: 3.8/10

B3 (B5) Hungary

The last chance at glory has come and gone, leaving a shriveled and demoralized Hungary with a laughable three provinces and a Romania with eyes gleaming with opportunity, something Hungary has clearly wasted. Though some of my Hungarians acquaintances may disagree, it just seems as if Hungary is outranked at this point, trying to bite off too much of the pie.

Week rating: 3.4/10

B2 (NR) Sweden

Sveden hast had many problems trying to deal wist Russia, none of vich are being solved anytime soon. Ok, I'll stop, but my point is still the same. After an initial period in which they were holding their own, they're handing out their lands to Russia as if they were the Salvation Army! If they keep up this clearly inferior level of strength, they will certainly not be the viktor, er victor.

Week rating: 1.3/10

B1 (NR) Mexico

This is really a tossup between the Swedes and the Mexicanos for worst performance of the week. It's unbelievable how badly the Americans are carving up Mexican lands and eating them up like a Thanksgiving turkey (that's a joke for you Americans, laugh it up). Unlike Sweden, which has managed to put up SOME resistance, Mexico has been absolutely helpless, its only bright spot being the RWs that put up a good fight. But when your rebels fight better than your standing army, there's something wrong.

Week rating: 1.2/10
