Day 1,832, 12:07 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (2) Australia

In a week with relatively few land changes, the Aussies take the cake. Australia continued its war for independence against the Chileans, and with Chile spread between two fronts, the Aussies found surprising success against a more powerful adversary. While many expected Chile to quickly re-wipe the outback nation, Australia has yet to lose a region, tipping the battles in their favor and even squeaking out an extra region, increasing their province total to three. Australia has received a vast amount of support from allies and has begun an amazingly successful independence war. It looks set to continue.

Week rating: 9.7/10

2 (NR) Portugal

Portugal has been living in the shadows, waiting for its time to return. And the moment seems to have arrived! While Portugal has managed to recapture a province on multiple occasions, Spain has always managed to quickly put an end to the charades with haste. This time, however, Portugal deflected Spain's attack with ease, holding onto Norte and even RWing Algarve back in the process. Now, with their capital of Lisboa also back under their control, Portugal appears to genuinely be returning to the map. If Portugal can continue seizing the initiative, it's very possible that the Portuguese will have their nation back in full in the near future.

Week rating: 9.4/10

3 (1) Greece

Considering that Greece is facing three fronts, they could have done far worse. Battling Bulgaria, FYROM, and Serbia is no easy task, and Greece has done quite admirably considering the situation. Greece has held off all three fronts from capturing Greek provinces, even securing Campania in Italy from FYROM and removed Russian provinces from Bulgarian control, and at one point occupying a third of Bulgaria before retreating. Greece has also managed to avoid a Hungarian NE thanks to their Turkish allies. If there's any nation that can withstand three fronts from three top tier powers, it's Greece, and at this point, Greece looks mighty strong.

Week rating: 8.7/10

4 (5) Colombia

How is Colombia not wiped by this point? Even after Brazil paraded its way through Colombia's lands, the Colombians have remained resilient. Colombia is taking advantage of the best situation possible; everyone is too distracted to bother the nation of blue. Spain is busy battling Portugal, Mexico is fighting its TW with America, Brazil is surveying its options in Asia, and Venezuela lacks a border. What is the result of all this? A Colombia officially at peace and funding successful RWs to capture lands back from all of its occupiers. If Colombia's luck holds up, they could be fully reformed within the week.

Week rating: 8.5/10

5 (NR) Ukraine

Ukraine has to love Turkey right about now. Thanks to the Turks' attack on its lands occupied by Hungary, the Ukrainians were able to revolt Podolia and later Donbas back from the Hungarians while avoiding a Hungarian NE. Thanks to this, Ukraine has been able to declare war on Hungary and gain the initiative, rather than fighting a defensive battle. While Moldova may throw a monkey wrench into their plans, the fact that Ukraine has control over Donbas, a region only bordering Hungarian Ukraine, means that ultimately, Moldova's influence in the war is limited. If Ukraine and Turkey can work together, it's possible that a whole lot more Ukrainian blue will grace the map in the near future.

Week rating: 7.8/10

Honorable Mentions: Serbia, Finland

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Albania, Philippines

B5 (B5) Chile

Chile's war in South America continues, and to be frank, it's not going too badly. Chile has managed to defeat the western string of Bolivian provinces while keeping its foot in the door against Argentina. But while Chile has decided to focus on the Australian front, sacrificing possible further victories against Argentina, their battles against the Aussies have not gone well, failing to take back either of the two regions and even losing one more to the Aussies. Chile's indecision between the two fronts has cost them dearly. Chile needs to wrap up one of its fronts quickly or it may lose them both.

Week rating: 4.0/10

B4 (B3) FYROM

FYROM may have managed to keep its core three regions intact, but at the cost of nearly all of its colonies. Luckily for FYROM, their rival Greece has two other fronts to contend with, so no serious attempt was made on the homeland, but Greece was able to wrest control over FYROM's Italian provinces as well as occupied Albania from the belligerent nation. While FYROM may have kept itself from a major collapse, the loss of its expanded empire has to sting, especially after already giving up Italian regions to Serbia. With the exception of Abruzzo, an Italian region not connected to FYROM's main regions, FYROM has completely receded back to its three home provinces, and it can't be that good for them.

Week rating: 3.7/10

B3 (NR) France

France was always a dead man (nation?) walking. With Serbia going through Italy (much to the chagrin of FYROM) to get a French border, it seemed inevitable that France would be used as a stepping stone for a mighty nation's battle plans. But while France was attacked, it was not by Serbia, but by their ol' pals, the Polish. France would have a hard time fending off the Poles even with full support, but with France not being in EDEN and all friendly damage being thrown into Greece and Australia/Argentina, France was left to fend for themselves, and they have not done very well, losing all their battles decisively and nearing another wipe.

Week rating: 3.1/10

B2 (NR) Hungary

Hungary's occupation of Ukraine has been a very exciting time, to say the least. With Ukraine constantly fighting fierce battles for Podolia, it's not been smooth sailing for Hungary in the slightest. But Ukraine poses a greater threat now. Whereas Hungary had been able to quickly dispose of Ukraine even when they managed to recapture Podolia, thanks to Turkey declaring war on the Huns it kept Hungary from pushing Ukraine back in its grave. While Moldova should help with the Ukrainians, the fact still remains that Hungary has lost two provinces already and faces a two-front war. Hungary may have won the first battle with Turkey, but it'll need a whole lot more to keep its borders.

Week rating: 2.8/10

B1 (NR) Spain

Spain normally deals with Portugal very well, but not this time. The Portuguese retook a province, this time Norte, but unlike previous wars, Spain was unable to quickly put an end to the uprising, seeing instead a resurgent Portuguese military secure Norte. The troubles didn't stop there, as Portuguese freedom fighters recaptured first Algarve then Lisboa, with Spain seemingly overwhelmed against their western foe. Adding onto that is their failure to keep Colombia from poaching back their South American gains via RW. Spain is losing both in Iberia and overseas, and needs to stop the bleeding.
