Weekly Power Rankings #21; Another Polish Playground

Day 1,818, 22:33 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to another edition of the eRepublik Power Rankings! Here are the rules; the efforts of the top five countries this week will be recognized, and the five worst performances will be mocked, no exceptions! Countries are recognized for many things, including successful defending, securing strong alliances, and, of course, conquering rivals. Without further ado, let's begin!

WINNERS

1 (H1) Poland

As if the blob didn't occupy enough land. The Poles, frustrated over their ABC allies' inability to defeat Asgard on their own, took matters into their own hands, attacking former ally Sweden and wiping the Scandinavian nation, who stood no chance against the Poles' massive army. Not stopping there, the Polish troops went northeast, sweeping and wiping Sweden on its way to attack Asgard's other member, Finland, working with ally Estonia to occupy half of their rival's nation. While Sweden did manage to reclaim a lone province in the wee hours, Poland is once again asserting its dominance over Europe.

Week rating: 9.2/10

2 (B5) Romania

Romania may have lost its base in Oceania, but they didn't waste any time in shrugging off their loss, blitzing their fallen provinces in the Balkans under Bulgarian occupation, and quickly rebuilding its home base, fighting off formidable resistance, at least for the first half of their reconquest. Thanks to EDEN support and Romania's own capable forces, Romania has completely reconquered all of its territory. Bulgaria giving up quickly is a gift Romania will take with pleasure, but don't belittle Romania's efforts to reestablish its home. Romania is now in position to play a role in Balkan conflict again. That's good. Right?

Week rating: 8.7/10

3 (NR) Serbia

Alright, Serbia may not have done much conquering, but it did gain a good chunk of Italy from FYROM, gaining a vital bridge to France, which would theoretically lead to USA and allow for a grand war between the two mighty nations. And capturing the regions was not the easiest thing in the world to do, either, as the Italians were not willing to give Serbia the regions without a fight. Although Serbia isn't willing to attack America alone, they certainly are set up in position to plan such an assault. Serbia is now ready for a grand war. And a grand war it will be.

Week rating: 8.3/10

4 (B3) Argentina

Argentina suffered a heavy blow, getting blitzed by Peruvian troops and anarchists falsely flying the Bolivian flag, not to mention Chileans. But just as they had before with the Bulgarian-led war, Argentina managed to fight off their assailants, pushing Chile off of South America and using Bolivia to force Peru back behind its Brazilian wall. Furthermore, in an attempt to chase the Chileans Argentina conquered all of New Zealand, and has started a counterstrike on Chilean-controlled land with Australia's support. While their first attempt may have failed, there is hope yet for revenge.

Week rating: 7.9/10

5 (B4) Belarus

Think about it this way. Sure, Belarus may have left EDEN, but that's better than a permawipe, at least to many people. Although they were in a no-winners situation, they got out of it relatively unscathed, at least land-wise. Belarus only sacrificed one region for a few months in exchange for two NAPs with bad boy Hungary and longtime foe Lithuania, trading a little prestige for its longevity. Is it the best move? Maybe not. But does it save Belarus from being permanently wiped? Definitely. And for a nation that's suffered through long periods of wipe, they'll take it.

Week rating: 7.2/10

Honorable Mentions: Estonia, Australia

LOSERS

Just barely good enough: Thailand, Croatia

B5 (5) FYROM

FYROM may have agreed to it, perhaps. But that doesn't mean they benefit from it one bit. By ceding the Italian regions to Serbia, FYROM loses its border with suddenly hated rival France, not to mention the region bonuses. FYROM certainly wasn't particularly pleased, especially since even the two regions Serbia left them aren't connected to FYROM's capital. While certainly FYROM didn't get betrayed by Serbia (right? RIGHT?), the deal to give Serbia land certainly doesn't help FYROM one bit. While they didn't get beaten in official combat, losing so many lands doesn't help them at all.

Week rating: 4.4/10

B4 (4) Chile

Once again, Chile is under fire by two nations at the same time. With Australia recapturing Tasmania and Argentina capturing New Zealand, Chile is once again surrounded by enemy forces, and it will be hard for the Chilean forces to hold off both enemies without full CoT support. While Chile did manage to hold off an initial assault by their two rivals, it'll take much more than that to hold onto their new base again. Chile failed a landing attempt in South America, being pushed back off the continent, and they will hope to return the favor to Argentina. But it'll take a lot of support.

Week rating: 3.9/10

B3 (NR) Finland

Finland may be used to battling Estonia, and Latvia on occasion, but they've always been the superior force. With Finns often occupying most, if not all of Estonia and on occasion even parts of Latvia, they're used to being on the victorious end, if not for extensive periods of time. But Poland had enough of Finland wasting Estonia's damage, and subsequently wrecked Sweden on its way to wiping Finland with Estonia's help. And unlike Sweden, which appears to be slowly regaining its lands, Finnish revolts have not panned out in the slightest. Finland may not see the light of day for a while if Poland so desires.

Week rating: 3.0/10

B2 (NR) New Zealand

Poor kiwis. At least Finland was actually the target of their wipe. New Zealand was just trying to mind its own business when Argentina came a'knocking asking for access to Chile. Well, not really asking so much as a violent wipe. Again. Perhaps it's their fault for letting Chile through to wipe Australia in the first place, but either way, New Zealand's hopes of staying on the map for an extended period of time are slim to none at this point. While they won't stay wiped as the tide of the war in Australia seems to be turning in Chile's favor, the kiwis have to find a way to stave off these recurrent wipes.

Week rating: 2.6/10

B1 (NR) Sweden

Sweden got a little too comfortable with EDEN-friendly Finland and the EDEN crowd in general; when their drab war with ABC began, they assumed that nothing would happen with them and Poland. While they got away with it for a while, the Poles got tired of seeing their allies' damage wasted, and decided to toss away Sweden and Poland's historic friendship, much to the former's chagrin. While Sweden did get a couple of provinces back, their loss is much more diplomatic and on a mental scale; Sweden would never been able to imagine a war between them and Poland only a few months ago. With relations likely irreparable, Sweden will have to make their new Asgard alliance work for them, and so far, it's been shaky.
