MY VIOLIN IS STOLEN!!!

..and not just any violin. This violin is from the Norrlands Opera house of Umeå, owned by the SparbanksStiftelsen Norrland and given to me as a scholarship for three years to play on. It is made in Italy, by the Swedish maker Jens Gösta Johansson in the year 2010 in Cremona. It has enormous value, not only to me personally but to everybody involved and also financially.

The violin was stolen from a big parking lot in bright day light from a locked trunk on shopping center JUMBO – close to Plovdiv on the way to Pazardzhik, Bulgaria around 16.20-16.40 o clock yesterday Saturday the 19th of January 2013. At the same time, a guitar was also stolen from the car.

The violin case is a black big case with three stickers on the back: Göteborg, W/L and UMEFOLK. It has some long ribbons on the sides, one with blue pattern and one with orange and red. On the top on the case there are some things attache😛 a keychain from India, a martinitsa (red and white ribbon) from Bulgaria and a green button from Slovenia. It is slightly torn on one side and you can see what the case is made from. The whole back has room for sheet music and there are a few set lists, Bulgarian tunes and an orange calendar with the name “Zvezdana Novakovic” inside.

The violin is placed in a white silk bag and with a black and white scarf over it. The case has room for four bows but there is only one. On the top left side there are some significant things: Two handmade paper snakes, each with my names "Sofia" and “Högstadius”, two tiny Bulgarian folk dancing shoes and a dried four cloves.
Except violin and bow in the case there are a set of Eva Pirazzi extra strings, a slightly broken looking shoulder rest in one of the smaller departments and rosin in a small wooden box.

The violin is in light wood and in very good shape. It has a martenitsa attached to the “shell” and only one fine tuner. The back part is made by one piece of wood and all has the same, light beautiful color. Inside the violin there is a sticker with the violin maker’s name:

Jens Gösta Johansson
Cremona, 2010

If you know many musicians in the area – please share this post and help me in the search of finding it. If you have any tips on how to search for stolen instruments, please let me know!

Deepest thanks,
Sofia
