eUK, we have uncertain times ahead. In a few months we may have different allies, may be fighting in different wars, and territories in our empire may be different. We must be cautious of who we help and who we attack in the next month, as they could decide the whole of our next year. Here is a look at our nearby countries, and what we should be doing about them.
Love Thy Neighbour... Or Smite Them
France, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Denmark and Canada share original borders with the eUK. Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Finland and Hungary also share borders with current eUK regions. Due to the over-powered alliance of TWO, many of these neighbouring countries with regions are already our allies. Many of those TWO countries also have a higher population. Below is the population statistics of all countries mentioned above.

As mentioned above, many of the high population countries in the graph are our allies. France is an enemy with a high population, but they have been supressed by Poland. All other enemies no not have a population majorly higher than the eUK. Regions is also something to look at, and the graph is shown below.
eUK sits as 3rd highest, with 4 countries having no regions.
Poland are just miles away with their great empire, having 67 regions. This shows their amazing military strength, while Hungary's 25 regions also show their strength. The eUK is surprisingly the 3rd country on the graph, and is actually only 8 regions away from catching up to Hungary. France, Belgium, Norway and Denmark all have no regions.
Who Should We Ally With
Poland
A very good ally as long as I have played the game, saving us many times from our enemies. Betraying them would be very disrespectful, and wouldn't help us as we don't have many true allies left. Also, Poland have the power to wipe most countries that they choose, so if we attacked them they would most likely win.
Germany
We have rarely fought them in the past(compared to Ireland, Canada and France) so why couldn't we give a friendship a go? In this game, our citizens do not seem to have much of a hate for Germany. Germany are not standing in the way of our empire, and their position on the map is good if they would help us conquer Scandinavia.
Hungary
They are in possession of Russia which gives us the border, so they do not really stand in our way of anything. We have been good friends with them in TWO, and have fought side by side in many battles. It would seem silly to waste a friendship, and attacking them will not help us very much, unless we want to try and take their deer.
And Who We Should Fight
Lithuania
They don't understand our passion for an empire, as they stand in the way of our deer. While they have been a part of TWO, our friendship has not been as strong with them as it has been with other TWO countries. Unless they are willing to let us have the deer, we should consider dropping them from our ally list.
Ireland
Ireland, Ireland, Ireland. For some reason, I can't see myself fighting alongside Ireland. I'm not sure if it to do with the many times they attack us while we are already down, or whether its the arguing we used to have. It could be the fact they gave citizenship to a group of eUK citizens who wanted to take down our country. I just don't know. Oh well, I don't like Ireland that much.
Norway
It we are going to spread our empire outwards to get that deer(and possibly other resources) we would have to hold Norwegian regions. They are a small country and don't have the damage output to help us a lot when it comes to bigger challenges. I personally don't know a lot about players from Norway, so there isn't a lot I can add. Maybe we should get to know them better before deciding on long-term occupation.

Attacking Germany probably makes the most sense, they're allied with your enemies and have a handful of regions that could give the UK economy a boost. They're no pushovers tho, so ultimately it may not be worth your while.
We would get no more resource bonuses from Germany, we would have to look at the countries just behind them. I'm sure if we allied with Germany, we could team up to help us both get more bonuses.
I hadn't considered the possibility of being allies with ze Germans, that sounds interesting.

Canada understands your desire for empire. Maybe we would make better allies then Lithuania ?
Better few bonuses than no challenges.

Problems with Lith plan are the cost of MPPs one side has to lose and that they're decent folk. I don't agree with the last administration folding to them over Scandinavia but I'm also against the other extreme. If it weren't for the MPP loss I'd be all in favour of a wargame, fight until a wipe. Would require a GM overhaul though so meh
My idea wasn't that we should set the NE tomorrow. Now CoT has collapsed, TWO will end up becoming less stable and we can expect people who are allies now to be fighting each other at the start of 2014.
What about launching an AS against Albania and, alongside Polska, driving CroAlb out of eIndia?
I'm up for that, but eUK suck.

Lithuania have actually been decent allies, during Azores they sent MU's over to help us push the walls and push they did. Recent times have seen them expand into Scandinavia, they have been busy NEing and holding down RW's, so haven't really been that noticeable in other theatres, not too dissimilar to us really.
As butjam stated, going to war with LT now would result in the proposer effectively leaving the sphere TWO damage. Neither side want that at the moment, neither side can afford to do it either. Maybe one day we will go to war with LT, but I can't see it anytime soon.
Germany? I would much rather see them as an ally rather than as an enemy.

Attacking Lithuania, proven to be a good ally time after time, just for a deer region seems silly considering we could well lose it within a month yet gain Lithuania as an enemy for months or even years.
Also being friends with Germany and Poland isn't a viable situation to be in, unless they've become friends since I was last around.
As a former CP of Norway I can assure you that we are one of the most reasonable, friendly and accommodating nations in eRep.
And we do not need all of our regions because of our low population.
so if You don't step on our toes, we can surely come to some agreement, that's favorable fore
you agenda of expansion. 😉
(maybe a rent agreement of a couple if our regions, may be a good option to visit?)

Originally we don't see the UK as an enemy, at the beginning of my last term we planed to
improve relations to You, there was even talk about a possible MPP, but then You started Your
war of boredom.

They don't want to give up a chunk of their economy so that we make an extra 20 food per day!? Wait WHAT!?! How absolutely unreasonable of them! Compare Lithuania and the UK. Similar size, similar-ish damage. Except, a huge chunk of that damage is done in RWs, and through mobile forces. Whilst we may be able to splurge more damage thanks to gold buyers and a few more players, they can actually direct their damage. We are hopeless at that.
Any comment that they are anything other than pretty cool allies is a joke, and shows how little you interact with helping the UK. They're regularly in our RWs, as well as their own. First Spain with the moronic 'free Canada', then Poland because of Spain, now Lithuania. Who do you want our Gov to have to apologise to and explain you're all batshit and no-one is listening to you next?
