Try Something New

Day 1,433, 11:23 Published in USA USA by Komari

My last article got me thinking. I closed with a call to action which asked the reader to see what you’ve accomplished and what you want to do next. Rather than just say it I feel I’d best practice what I preach. I would say that the previous article was a fair assessment of what I’ve accomplished, so the next step is to chart a course of action from here.

I think I’ve seen this kind of map before somewhere…

The great thing about this is you really can’t do it wrong. I mean it. You might not end up where you thought you’d be, but any destination is reached by action and experiences which can all be utilized down the road. Whether you’re a new player, a two-year vet, or some devoted being beyond that, we all have the option to build upon the past.

I’m not calling for some kind of personal revolution or drastic departure from the norm (unless that is what you’re looking for). Technically one viable response would be to maintain your current behaviors. While not the most adventurous (for most people) it is a choice and if you’re already doing what makes you enjoy your time investment then I’m happy for you. The important thing is to play with purpose and make your own fun.

This game provides various aspects including war, economics, politics, and media. Players also supplement these with their own activities, organizations, and the like. I feel that I will be a more developed and effective player if I have some familiarity in the different endeavors since they are all related. I already have a fantastic military community I get to interact with, I’ve tried my hand at basic politics, and my long-range financial plan is progressing smoothly, so I will seek to maintain these successful elements or help them to grow in ways I am able to provide.

The one thing that I lack in that resume is a media presence. While I do technically have a newspaper (obvious I suppose) my first article was posted on day 883. Counting this article I am now up to the monumental total of seven articles. That averages to roughly 79 days between articles. This is just a guess, but that probably isn’t frequent enough to be considered a media presence.

So the way I see it is I’ve been here for a while, I’ve seen things, I’ve done things, and I’m capable of taking a side on issues. There is no reason why I shouldn’t pursue this creature known as the media. This will be a challenge to myself in hopes that I can further appreciate this game and its varied community.

I will again end with a call to action and something of a deal. I’m going to give this media thing a shot. I challenge each of you readers to evaluate what you’ve experienced and areas of the game you haven’t participated in. Join a military/militia community (the Training Corps is a great place to start), pick a political party, run for congress, start a business, or in some way find something here you haven’t done before. The worst thing that could happen is you find something you do not wish to pursue, though you will have a better understanding of what goes into it, and that is still a worthwhile discovery. If we all stop spectating we can contribute, see new things, and acquire experiences that will be invaluable in the future.

Stay tuned for future articles and feel free to share any questions, topics you’d like to read about, or your own personal goals so we can stay accountable together.
