Too Much Like Real Life

I'll let you in on a little secret. Although it's not a secret and should be obvious really.

Part of my strategy is to play up my noob status so that I can learn what is going on in this game. And oh boy what I've learned. Asking the basic questions, saying the basic things actually has been extremely valuable in understanding the people in eAUS.

You can judge someone's character by how they respond when they are questioned. Certain ones are very secure in who they are and respond with the reasons they do what they do and share them with anyone who asks. Others respond with silence for various reasons. Less secure. Finally there are the most insecure who mock and belittle those who ask the question as a away to shore up their own self-image. Sad really. But Santa's naughty list includes a few of these this year: TJ, TH, DDM, AC. In a game where its rare for a noob to get involved and push past the bs, these people really show a lack of concern for eAUS.

For those who love playing the behind-the-scenes stay up all night on IRC model-UN game, don't just expect the rest of us to play so you get your jollies. Do something for the rest of the community.

One thing would be to actually post news. I don't want my articles to be on the most popular list. The news on our page is the most pathetic of any country I've seen. All I ask is just a little communication and not just - patience and silence.

And people will still try to be defensive and mock I'm sure. People bring too much reality into this game. But the question remains as to how we will ever address the structural and strategic issues that will make any liberation from eChile simply another resetting of the clock until the next takeover.

(PS - I'm trying to think about how to do a pool where everyone can bet on when/who will take the first territory from us after eChile leaves. If the country is going to continue to burn you might as well use the flames to roast marshmallows and pop some corn!)
