Today’s Bro tip

For today’s issue of the Bro paper I thought I would ask some newbies about their first impressions regarding erepublik, this is by far the best response I got so in the interest of keeping this paper from getting too long I will just summarize the other peoples responses. I talked to them in a skype chatroom that myself and another player made to help a few newbies we had invited.
[11:19:31 AM] Buicy: When any body gets a chance i am interviewing new erepublik players for my next article
[11:20:00 AM] Buicy: basically just what you think of the game so far and how your egovernment could be helping you more
[12:14:05 PM] Hads: I can do this at some point although I'm pretty busy atm with work etc but this is my first impressions anyhow...
[12:14:30 PM] Hads: This game can be massively confusing if it were not for people in this room who know what is what I would have probably given up lol
[12:2😇4 PM] Hads: The UK does give some help as soon as I joined I got a message detailing this and that where to go to get help but the 'introduction' section of the forum is pretty much full of I'm a newbie or hello threads. There are some plans to help people get off their feet but this are unreliable easily missed and often require you signing up to a political party.

Don't get me wrong there are some good guides on the forum they're just difficult to find. I think it would be a great help if in the opening message that I received instead of getting a link to the general forum there were links to a 'beginners guide' because even the tutorial seems a bit mental. In the end I asked my employer at the rubber plantation (😛) what the hell to do and he gave me some really helpful links.

I guess if you ask enough of the right questions or look hard enough the help is there but that can be a rather daunting task and I think it would be beneficial if this information was more readily available and more easily accessible.
[12:21:20 PM] Hads: with concern to the actual game itself I'm not sure I've played long enough to give it a verdict and I still don't know where I will fit into the community
[12:23:15 PM] Hads: I am enjoying it enough to keep playing and I'm pleased that it doesn't look like you need to remain constantly active to do well, enjoy yourself or even survive like you did in previous games I've played such as grepolis or travian. Maybe the game will become more time consuming but it seems to me that the focus is the social aspect and I think I will enjoy getting into that.
[12:25:12 PM] Hads: so far a thumbs up, The tutorial helps you with general areas of play but it doesn't really explain the individual concepts or even the general idea, the difficulty of this presumably coming from the hugely varied ways to play I guess.
[12:28:14 PM] Hads: One thing I will say for the eUK is that they understand the need to help the new players, there are mentoring schemes both in terms of general play and military units so the intent and goodwill is there even if the infrastructure is not, perhaps I just need to get over the learning curve and delve into the community a bit more
[12:28:37 PM] Hads: so yeah that's generally what I think
[12:28:57 PM] Hads: at the moment I'm enjoying it enough to keep playing and I think I will probably get into it more the more I keep playing 🙂
[1:40:08 PM] Buicy: Thanks alot Hads Im sure that will be enough as long as I get responses from other people 🙂

Heres the summary of points that I got from hads and other players

-Its really confusing as a newbie, the best way combat this would be to include helpful links in the welcome message and expand mentoring programs.

-The game itself can be a little slow to get into “Why should I spend two weeks on an internet game to save up for a fruit orchard?”

-The fact that there are a variety of ways to play the game and the overall social aspect of the game is a big plus

-The fact that you can stop playing erepublik for a while and then come back and not have all your progress gone is great

-A system by which new players could receive loans to become self sufficient as fast as possible would be helpful, obviously these players would have to prove that they intended on hanging around so that we didn’t waste money.

That’s it for the Bro paper today I hope you all enjoyed a look inside the mind of a new player.
Next week’s issue of the Bro Paper is up for grabs I’m considering publishing an article in a foreign country but if anybody has suggestions of what they want me to talk about say so in the comments.

Don’t worry I didn’t forget the beautiful woman😉
