Thoughts on eMarriage, and a declaration

We've seen a recent spate of eMarriages lately and, while I've never been one for that aspect of roleplay in eRepublik, I thought back to some of the more interesting ones I've seen in my time. There are a number that spring to mind, but the one that I keep coming back to is also one of the earliest...maybe the earliest, I can't really be sure.

That marriage was between Dishmcds and Daphne Lilac.

Their marriage was so much more than what you see in the modern eRepublik. They were partners. Politically, socially, really in every way that mattered. But, what was best about them is that, even while working towards common goals, they could challenge each other.

It's that aspect of their relationship that most intrigues me, and which has made me rethink my position on 'eMarriage'. In doing so, it was clear to me that there is really only one woman in this game who could possibly be the Daphne to my Dish, as it were.

Not only has she become a great friend to me, but we worked well together during my Presidency, and I'd like to think that I was a good sounding board for her during hers.

You see, neither of us really has anything left to prove in eRepublik. If we keep playing, we do it for ourselves and our friends. To manufacture new challenges for ourselves, not to be bound by mechanics or titles or meta-jobs. We've done them all.

We haven't been directly opposed to each other in years, but there is still a rivalry of sorts, and it's that ability to stay friends while we both needle and prod each other that makes me think that she's the only real option here.

Also, she's pretty foxy.



So, with that, I'm beginning a formal courtship of fingerguns today. I've already gotten permission from Harrison Richardson, as he was the winner of the 'fingerguns needs a MAN' contest, and I wouldn't want to step on the toes of Choc's selection for her.

I will be continuing this courtship here in my paper, and possibly a few others...depending on how far reaching the movement might become.

I stand ready for the trolling, I know it is coming...and it doesn't concern me.
