The Unity Election Process

Issue #3

I needed to get my head around this as many people seemed unsure how it all worked. So, again for my friends among the new citizens, here is an attempt to explain it all.

The eUSA is under a threat of political takeover, a situation accepted by agreement among most of our political parties. This assumption underlies the Unity Process. Taking it from there, the political parties who recognize the takeover threat have agreed to support a unity candidate in our Country President elections.

Simply put, the Unity candidate is selected by a committee with five votes. The committee consists of the four parties ("Top 5") supporting the Unity process, plus a vote representing all the minor (6th) parties supporting the process.

+ + + + Combined Sixth Parties

gives us:

The “Sixth Parties” form their own electoral college to determine their vote at the main table. The weight of each party’s vote is based on party membership at the end of the 26th day of each month. Parties express their choices, in order of preference. First preference gets all that party's votes in the electoral college, ie “Winner Take All”.

The candidate with the highest total of these electoral college votes gets the fifth vote in the main committee.

At this point, one candidate may already have three votes (or more) in the main committee. That candidate automatically becomes the Unity candidate. This occurred in December 2012, when Inwegen received the votes of two parties, plus the fifth vote, from the “Sixth Parties” electoral college.

If no candidate has a majority in the main committee vote, a “Tie-Breaker” applies.

The candidate with the lowest vote in the main committee is EXCLUDED. The Unity vote is then re-counted, with the vote from the party or parties supporting the excluded candidate being transferred to the second choice of that party. This is not done with the Sixth Parties vote, UNLESS that vote was for the excluded candidate.

I hope this makes things clearer!
