The UIP Response to Robert S. Miller

Day 596, 18:23 Published in USA USA by United Independents Party

Multiple times throughout eUS history, individual citizens have contrived to steal, cheat, and deceive our country and its citizens. It's a simple fact of both real life and eRepublik that there are certain people who make it their goal to ruin things for others. It's also a simple fact that at times, they can be difficult to stop.

Luckily in this latest episode, which involved Robert S. Miller attempting to divert government funds to a personal organization, the admins acted swiftly and decisively to ensure that no harm would come from his actions. Nevertheless, the United Independents Party has long prided itself on the quality of our of congressional representatives, and Robert's actions have upset our party greatly. Because of that, we would like to clarify our relationship with Robert.

Unfortunately, game mechanics (along with the fact that we're on the internet) prevent the leadership of any party, including our own, from truly being able to vet a candidate. Robert S. Miller did come to the UIP requesting permission to run under our banner, and UIP leaders remembered him as a former inactive congressman from another party, and confronted him on the issue. Robert responded by apologizing for his former inactivity, and wrote an article expressing his desire for a second chance to prove how hard he was going to work. Noting his apparent sincerity, the UIP decided to grant him that chance by allowing him to run in Oklahoma.

It should be noted that no one in the UIP was aware of any accusations against Robert S. Miller of multi-accounting during prevoius congressional elections, and didn't notice any evidence of multi-accounting in his election to congress in Oklahoma.

The UIP has extremely active leadership that works hard to ensure the quality of our congressional candidates - but every once in a while someone slips through the cracks. All there is to go by on the internet is text on a page. As everyone knows, that can be quite difficult to correctly interpret. Nevertheless, the UIP wishes to affirm to both its own party members, along with the American public as a whole, that we do not approve of Robert S. Miller or his actions, and that we will do everything in our power to ensure that something like this does not happen again.
