The Types of Anime Fans
Nanashi Senshi
What can I say, the title says it all. Here are some ( stereotypical ) types of anime fans. Of course, don't take this seriously but which type is the closest or maybe the same as you?
1. The Newbie ( The sweet age of innocence and blessed ignorance )
2. The Secret Fan ( Guilty pleasure.....anime...my precious )
3. The one who lives by the samurai code ( Soon to become a weebo. Weaboo is an over obsessive fan of Japanese culture )
4. The way of lifer ( A weebo )
5. The Critic ( Why so serious....don't you just hate/dislike these guys...'cuz I know I do xD )
6. The nostalgist ( Almost annoying as the Critic, old school, new school, all school rules
😁)
7. The way too into it one ( Weebo level: it's over 9000 !!! )
8. The one confusing anime with western cartoons ( For the last time Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra/RWBY is not...and I repeat, is not an anime )

I'll go with..mostly casual and one quarter critic.
Just one quarter critic? xD
..yeah, I'm just a mild critic with pretty broad tolerance.
"a mild critic with pretty broad tolerance. " - if only there were more critics like you, anime world would be a much happier place, but mostly of them are just like on the picture xD
Turt..... I don't know what to say, but I advice you to talk to yourself in a mirror sometime, cuz I'm not sure if I know anyone more fit to be the critic than you xD
Obviously you didn't meet enough hard core critics..I'm mild like a butter in comparison. xDD
Well, I'm a critics-hater when it comes to anime, so that should explain a lot :3
Believe it or not, I also despise those kind of critics: If a anime title isn't 90% ground-breaking, experimental and awe inspiring, they won't get off their high horse and offer a praise.
BUT..I also despise universal sayings like "tastes differ, there is no point in arguing about them". That's just conformism or inability of argumentation...or if you will - a quick getaway. The only ones whom doesn't want to discuss about 'quality of taste', are the people who can't stand behind their own opinions.
As with pretty much everything, there are to sides of the medal.
The nostalgist
Do you believe that animation has improved since the last century?

Dio new school: http://i.imgur.com/i8mbIlg.jpg
I'm more into the old stuff because I grew up with it. It was usually more srsbsns etc. Not just the art but also the way it was written
I don't think that older stuff was/is that much superior in quality of the story or character development comparing to the new school ( after 2000's ), but I have seen people claiming that old is much superior than new school, like in the old days every anime was perfect and there weren't any crappy anime series at all, and that is kinda annoying, at least to me xD
Personally, I don't limit myself with with age criteria. Priorities go like this:
> characters
> story
> everything else
..
i'm weeaboo
btw i hate critics and nostalgics types
For real? You should be wary xD
my kendo skills will protect me!
The 2. should be renamed as: "The Tsundere Fan"
Yeah, I thought the same thing xD

2 then 3 well that escalated quickly
I would go with The Secret Fan except that only few people know.
Yeah, it's still a taboo, prejudice are everywhere xD
Lol, just surrender to the anime already! I don't care what people think of me, I will still keep win7 OS-tan as the background picture on my computer at work xD
To me it's the people that don't like anime that are weird... I see more and more of my doubtfull friends getting addicted to anime, so it's not weird 😁
amin brother
More like sister though 😛
I'm pretty much the nostalgic one but I don't really dislike newer animes. Why so much hate though ;-;
I guess there are people who don't see anime just as a type of entertainment ( also I can agree with those calling it a type of art xD ), something you watch for fun, to entertain/educate yourself ( laugh, cry and sometimes to think really hard about the meaning of life, hardships of life itself ), they expect anime to be like Turt already mentioned before- "If a anime title isn't 90% ground-breaking, experimental and awe inspiring, they won't get off their high horse and offer a praise." and anything that doesn't fit that description they hate xD
I understand your point 🙂
The way of lifer - in other words I'm already a lost cause, so just give me up already and accept the virtuality x3
Reality hits you hard...bro xD
I'm closest to the Way of Lifer, but I don't fit cleanly, since I'm not obsessed to the point of closing off everything else. Though I've considered the merits of tatami flooring, and I would eat a lot more real ramen, if it were available.
Personally, I consider myself in the Professional NEET/Home Security guard, but eh.
I'm the Way of Lifer since I live in Japan and my bedroom actually has tatami flooring 😛 I don't watch as much anime as I used to though because I'm busy IRL.
haha 1 and 3?
neweebo
Voted...
I'm closest to #3. Love it, but not obsessed.
but...
Isn't the Emperor from Warhammer 40.000... a great game!
I've spent MANY hours killing with my Space Wolves.
Yes, it is the one and only, true Emperor, the protector and the savior of Mankind. My top 3 marine chapters:
1) Black Templars
2) UltraMarines
3) Blood Ravens
Looking forward this game - Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, hopefully it will be free to play xD http://youtu.be/AAlOe8fUoG0
I've got pieces of a few and I can't say I belong to just one. Kind of secret, as I don't talk about it unless I know they are interested, but if asked if I watch it, I wouldn't deny it. Kind of way of lifer, I don't act it out nor do I collect a single thing, but I will be taking classes at my college for Japanese & Kanji on top of simply enjoying to learn anything about Japan. And finally, a little bit nostalgic, though not believing what I grew up with is superior, but watching and reading anime & manga for 7 years now, I'm just getting desensitized in a way, all the cliche touch feely moments feel cheesy now, beach, hot spring, festival, episodes, predictable characters, there are simply lots of cliches that are no longer new to me.
Double that to 14 so..and you'll understand my predicament. :3
As for the part about beach, hot spring, festival, episodes, predictable characters cliches ( the childhood friend xD ). But if you just watch one year all anime seasons you will see how are things and how everything works, even if you are a complete newbie xD And unfortunately as you said it, there's a lot of predictable cliches ( especially in ecchi/harem/slice of life anime series but the other genres are not better then them xD ), the only thing that is different is a way of presentation, how soon they will use the many times used and seen cliches. If you have seen one, you saw it all xDD
Nice, vote.
I think a little 4 xD
