The Truth About our "War Games"; Thailand has been used
After invading southern Thailand in accordance with our wargame scenario, Indonesia did not stay put. Instead, they used the foothold they gained in that region of our territory to launch an attack on a previously inaccessible Indian territory. In essence, Indonesia has used Thailand and this “war game” situation to further its conquests.
While we prepared to engage in a gamin scnerio out of friendhship and brotherhood, Indonesia was plotting its next inevitable conquest. We were not being offered friendship, but were being used and lied to. The focus was never making friends or extending a hand of peace to Thailand, but was, instead, to conquer one of the only unsigned countries in the world (India is not signed with PEACE or Atlantis). We had hoped we were being treated like equals and friends, but we were being treated like ignorant country bumpkins that could be moved like pawns on a chessboard. This was no offer of friendship; it was the machinations of an imperialistic war machine set on their next conquest.
We will fight our RW, there is no debate there. However, when we finish, we need to discuss our next move. Do we continue this ruse of friendship with Indonesia? (I personally do not believe we can trust them again). Will we continue to offer friendship and allow Indonesia to use us? They have already proven that their conquest is more important than any friendship.
Further, we will need to discuss what we can do to right the situation in India. We are partially responsible, even if we were duped. It will be our responsibility to aid in fixing the mess that has been created.
For Shame Indonesia.

First of all, the could have simply taken the land and been done with it.
Secondly, they put up the money for both the war, and the RW...not to mention since our hospital is destroyed they are replacing it with a defense system of equal quality.
Third, I understand you are new to our nation, but Indonesia is the only nation, I repeat ONLY, that has dealt with us in friendship and provided aid and advice to us. eUSA and Atlantis ignored us, Pakistan laughed at our moron of an ex-Emperor, India has never contacted us until this invasion, Japan?? China??
I see no reason to badmouth Indonesia now. Until they actually do us harm, they deserve our friendship and support. That is the current climate of Thailand and the reality of where we are today.
Small correction, Japan actually did enter into trade negotiations and express interest in helping our economy, even if this stalled and thus was never publicized.
But that hardly detracts from the larger point that Indonesia has historically better relations with us than we've with any other country, up to and including signing an MPP with us (and actually paying their full share despite our disproportionately benefiting from it).
Oh. We should have seen that coming. It's really too bad, because Indos are nice people. After we RW our region, we need to help India. Joining Peace is a much less appealing prospect right now.
Um...Id rather be allied with Indonesia than eUSA any day. And after we RW our region, we will be doing no such thing. India has plenty of "help".
I cant believe there are still people thinking we should actually join Atlantis.
Considering our position in the world map and the neighbouring countries anyone honestly thinks we could stand independent for long?
Or do you still believe that Atlantis would come for us? Like so many countries did in the past.. Oh.. Wait.. They refuse to help us.. But they did save Argentina from the jaws of PEACE.. oh.. wait..
I'm late to the party so I don't have much that hasn't been said by JR and Ealb but I want to put my support behind eIndonesia. The fact is they could have trampled us with little worry of repercussion. They instead showed respect towards us as a nation by coming to us ahead of time to work things out. I do sympathize with the eIndian people because I know how I would feel if we were to lose part of eThailand.
We are far too small to start becoming "world police" as a Nation. I have no opinion on anyone who wants to go help as an individual or a group. As a Nation I would not support any official action that would be against eIndonesia. I look at them as a friend to our Nation.
My problem is not necessarily with the actions taken, but the manner in which the actions were taken. If eIndonesia had requested southern thailand for a specific amount of time so that thy could launch an attack from there, we would be having a different conversation now. Unfotunately, Indonesia lied about their intentions. I did not vote to support an invasion of India, I voted to have wargames. We have been made complicit in this invasion without our express knowledge. This is simply not right.
This is so funny, everyone in PEACE knew all along Indonesia was using eThai to conquer a region in India.
I am so excited for Indonesia
Rody, Im curious if you are speaking as an official representative of the government or are simply running your mouth as usual?
I must admit that I am more than a little bit pissed off about this. My lack of understanding when it comes to the geographic layout (borders etc.), who can attack who and the contents of the wargames contract prevented me from clearly understanding what the possibilities were during this scenario. I never read it because I wasn't really for or against the wargames. I don't have enough fighting experience to decide whether it would have been a good move or not. I figured that Jack, Ealb and Vincent (to name a few) would be aware of the possibility that something like this might happen. For the moment I will assume that they also overlooked the possibility because I find it hard to believe that they would think this to be a good move (as far as helping Indonesia invade India).
At this point I am primarily pissed because it doesn't matter how chummy Indonesia has been with Thailand or how strong they are, we should not be condoning this campaign against India.
Please tell me that we (the Thai government) were not aware of this plan and for admin's sake stop condoning it if we weren't aware of it. If we were aware of it, then the current administration is no better than Rockman9's regime.
I hope Ealb can diffuse my objections (Ealb tends to keep a cool head), but why should Thailand be condoning Indonesia's invasion of India? I kow it's a game, but isn't India entitled to independence just as Thailand is? I just don't get the why in what is happening?
Err...that should have read "representative of the Brazilian government".
That was just me throwing at your face how stupid you were to trust Indonesia, you knew they were going to atack India so they could borde other countries to increase their imperialistic desires
Ah I see, so yet again running your mouth about things you really do not know the details of. Carry on then.
Just because eIndonesia is the only country to have opened proper negotiations and what not with us does NOT mean and should NEVER mean that we should be walked all over and act as their puppy when they use us in such a manner. This is a sad state of affairs in which our President and officials were either tricked; or had a hidden agenda. How can out president continue to feel true friendship towards a nation who just used us? His he really their pet?
So I ask you, as I have asked others accusing us of standing aside and allowing this to happen...what exactly should we have done? The world has never shown any sort of interest in helping Thailand in the past...so standing up to Indonesia's request and saying no could very well have resulted in Thailand's complete destruction. Heck we dont even have our military completely organized yet. Time was of the essence in this deal, and I chose to save our nation.
We may not like seeing another nation invaded and possibly conquered, but I will take that rather than see Thailand completely conquered and ruined further.
That is the sad reality of our nation and the world today. eUSA and others claim that they go to fight for India's freedom, but they are really out to get some licks in at Indonesia. Another nation's independence means little to them.
First the confusion about how the actual wargames would be played, and the negativeness of how to do it (I would have to quit my job and pay for numerous travelling tickets by myself), now it turns out that it was Indonesia using us to attack another country.
I have serious issues with how this was carried out. At no point were we, as congress members or citizens, informed of this plan to attack. If you did, indeed, know about the plans to invade India, you have seriously mislead your citizens and the congress members. Just because you believed we had no other option does not give you the right to lie to your officials. We had a right to know, and you failed in your duty to inform. Corruption in our government should not be tolerated. Although it pains me, I believe we will have to wait until after this war game fiasco to take any further action. It will not be forgotten.
"what exactly should we have done?"
Accepting hush money and looking the other way was your best option? How exactly does that help Thailand? Having a history of corruption was bad enough, now we get to add cowardice to the resume. Way to go!
I must follow my typical style of falling back on a movie quote to make my point,
“Of course we must fear evil men, but there is another evil that we must fear more… and that is the indifference of good men.”
@Butidigress
have you ever heard about 'top secret'?
does the public have to know about the 'real strategy'?
your president knew that this will not harm your country.
just trust him. he knows a lot.
our objection is high iron at karnataka.
if your president tell that to you all, then india must have been signed mpp's with another country.
that'll make things harder.
LOL
Like it or not, I think the first thing our government should do is to admit they have been used.... I hope Jack could have expressed that more clearly.
Then our next question is what we are going do about it, which in my humble opinion, is to go on with the wargames anyway. Considering all the factors, getting distracted by that can be a disaster. So we kind of have not choice but to finish this wargames quickly.
And that should be what we all should do.
Meanwhile, I would like to express my sorrow for eIndia. I didn't expect this when I lent my support to the wargames as congress member.
If you seriously believed it to be just a military exercise, why did your president retreat from the battlefield? You could've trained there for 24 hours, then claim it back with another battle. Instead, he knew perfectly well that the military exercise was not the aim here and retreated from the battlefield, thus denying you military ranks.
But I do understand your position, any other choice would've resulted in Indonesia just taking the region. If your "friends" are like that, why do you need enemies?
I find it funny he's still trying to keep up the cover story
How does a guy from Finland know this? lol
Anyways Jack you messed up big this time sorry, just tell the eThai the REAL plan behind the war.
How do I know? Only connecting the dots here
http://www.erepublik.com/en/battles/show/5953 - "The President of Thailand retreated from the battlefield." - Why else would he retreat from the battlefield when only 29 fights were done for the defender, if the whole point of the war was to have a military exercise in which you get to fight and raise rank?
@Jun
I do not believe in "Top Secret" affairs conducted without the general consent of the ruling body. Further, Jack Roberts promised transparency in government. This is obviously not the case.
@Rody/laracroft2309:
"How does a guy from Finland know this? lol

I thought you had renounce the use of your multis, Rody. I know you always claimed very unconvincingly that Lara wasn't one of them, but you've just made very clear that it was. So please quit multi'ing, and butt right back out of eThai politics. You're contributing NOTHING even vaguely constructive, and you're violating the ToS in order to amplify your disruptiveness.
it only made sense is all i can and will say no nation will give all that gold just for us to train and not have an alternate objective other than training a neghbours military.
Hmmm reading JR's comments it seems he knew Indonesia's intentions. I am COMPLETELY caught off-guard by this chain of events.
But I think we can discuss these things later, the first thing is to secure the South Region quickly.
Same sentiments as Wisdom. Though given all the circumstances, if I were President, I would have done the same thing with one difference - I would have PMed trusted Congressmen with the information. That would have kept Indonesia's intentions secret but keep more people in the loop therefore less people to explain (or more people to help explain to others).
