The ten TUP lies

The ten TUP lies

Regarding the recent events of e-parliamentary e-histeria is good to
remember some well founded lies, inocculated by the simple method of
repetition.

1. TUP guarantees a stable and sensible foreign policy.

I have seen three changes, and what's worse, tackled with the worst
delicacy and diplomatic touch possible: The Macedonian, Chilean and
now Serbian. Each case was handled the worst possible way. In the case of
Macedonia, from being rabid supporters of the term 'Macedonia' we
switched bitterly to call them FYROMians, (whilst we could have used
both terms or even just macedonian with no extra effort or harm). Chile was
another pitiful mistake. For months, we fed them and support Chile,
but suddenly we switched sides,... the question is that all that
previous HUGE work was thru the basin sink. We could've spent in
supporting local population .

Now, the "serbian lie". For years, TUP has been supporting polish,
serbian and even slovenian(he has been there a couple of times) , and
serbs, polish have moved freely in and out eUK. But, it seems that a
mere handful of Serbs imported by New Era is the threat , not the
dozens of remaining Serbs in the happy TUP serbian days. And again,
the deal with Serbians is the least proffesional possible.

2. TUP is a safe option for the Treasury.

Certainly, no TUP member has stolen treasury. But, they've installed
the "huge treasury reserve" concept into everyone's mind, or many's.
Having a huge treasury is similar to stocking petrol barrels in your
house and not expecting ever a fire to blow the entire apple.

A safe treasury is not a big treasury. Robberies will happen again
sooner or later.

3. TUP pursues an united country.

TUP members are known for being biased moderators whether in forums,
IRC, parliament private messages. To be fair, biased is a soft word to
the actual behaviours.

You cannot unite if you insult so freely.

But you cannot unite if you simply ignore the rest of the world
outside your tribe, if you don't share your thoughts, decissions,...

Where and who has asked your opinion about new alliances, new ways of
spending money... ? TUP doesn't want your opinion, they want your
submission. They want the absence of opposition not union. Union is
made among equals.

4. TUP knows how to the defend the country.

This is perhaps the funniest one and the newest one, propelled by
current CP. With Iain Keers holding a personal wealth worth in
millions, any campaign could be _easily_ won just setting the right
combat orders at the right time, no matter how weak your players are.

5. Nobody wants to work for the government, so it's left to us: TUP.

Needless to say, that is a blantant lie. Again the opaqueness of
procedures, the tribal sense in TUP, the nodding of long and dark
friendships ( dark because are only known by some and whose
consequences go beyond a simple friendship) forge a "state of mind": a
lie. That is, a few "friends" from UKRP or ESO help to cast this idea
of "the involved" versus "the ruled".

Not only we have varied candidates ( Neil Lewis, Huey George,... ) on
the top, but also I have witnessed that even for entry levels , non
TUP tribe guys must start at a level below.

Lots of guys have suggested ideas or new approaches... this is after
all a game. There's not a sacred and blessed unique way of
government.

6. The participation rates of TUP are normal, AND the
consequence of the good TUP rulers.

Consistent statistical rates in participation is a clear sign of
distinct "phenomena". (Communist) bulgarian majorities are either
achieved by dictatorships either by cheating. Don Dapper has _proved_
many times the existence of _strange_ sets of all players that "don't
play" but that are alive ( if Don uses multis or not is matter of
_other_ article).

Perhaps, this is one of the most demoralizing lies, and excluding
ones. Since , the legitimate player is faced with leaving the
"political" game or with having his own set of multis. Needless to
say, it's rather pathetic to fall in this trap.

We know, how TUP plays, at least _some_ players within TUP. On the
other hand, it's logic that oldest party has his own legion of
faithful players, supporting it with multi-votes . It's normal and
even logical. At least, they should admit it.

7. The game mechanics are complex and dark and TUP is,along with some
TUP friends, the holders of that knowledge.

This applies to certain CP mechanics, opening of campaigns and some
other rules, that are no more than 40 lines long and that are endorsed
by old players as the untransferrable, ungraspable truths .

8. TUP is fun.

Funnily enough, TUP is not fun, I don't know how they manage to be
such boring. You can find enterntainment in many parties, UKRP, PCP
even eso, but when it comes to TUP... the closest you can get is a
poor ms drawing.

Not being fun in a game, where fun is the supposed point of existence
is just dramatic.

Sometimes, it seems that some TUP members believe that the fun is in
bearing such not funny situation, which is a bit twisted thought.

9. The "baw" is pretty bad , boredom is better.

What some refer as "baw" and some have accepted as "baw" is no more or
less than "competition". It's true that sometimes is "howl
competition" and pure "baw", but if you are able to disguise the
provocations and the ones making "ad hominem" falacies ( attacks to
the person, not the idea) and you keep with the "battle of ideas", you
both realize who wants to keep stagnant and who wants to improve things.

This lie is one of the hardest to dismantle, I admit.

10. Honours system and "hierarchy" is good for us.

Well, no. Having a non-neutral pseudo-king, non-neutral forums or
privilege is not a way of uniting, having fun or being efficient.
It's just a gift from a tribe to itself, granting itself rights of
elite.
