The Struggle for Freedom! Netherlands-Russia

Day 1,661, 17:48 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Welcome to the mini-series 'The Struggle for Freedom!'. In this series, each friendly country will be featured and analyzed. There will be two main sections, the stats and the analysis. The analysis will describe the country and its situation in more detail. The stats will be split into three parts: strength, importance, and loyalty.

Strength defines the country's raw ability to fight. It involves its population, experience, resources, money, and amount of land. It is NOT based on strength relative to countries near it.

Importance describes the country's value to the alliance. While all countries are cared for, some countries naturally have more to offer. Though power may play a minor role, it is mostly rated based on geography and its presence in various regions. Those with an ability to directly fight major battles are considered more important.

Loyalty details how much the country attempts to help others in the alliance, and generally being a good buddy. It includes having MPPs, giving back lands to allies, helping in battles, and many other minor factors. Loyalty also is based in how long the country has been allied; while long-time friends tend to be more loyal, new additions often need to prove their worth.

(S/I/L)

Netherlands (2/7/8)

The lovable underdogs, the Netherlands have been fighting for their lives since the game's inception. Despite being a weak country, it's managed to stay alive, and has forged many alliances with EDEN countries, finally leading to its induction into the alliance very recently. Next to Polish Germany, the Netherlands, with outside support, could help open another front, helping it reclaim parts of Germany as well as the three lands currently under foreign occupation. The Netherlands may be weak, but they've got a high ceiling.

Norway (1/1/6)

Norway's been very distant as of late. Apparently they and Russia are not on the best of terms, as Russia still refuses to give back any Norwegian lands. Its lack of influence is sadly its best feature. It has little to no militaristic power, and has no fronts to fight either, excluding Russia, who no one wants to fight. Even in its prime Norway only had surprisingly strong Sweden and ally Germany as borders. Norway needs to get something of value, or else it could get betrayed very soon.

Philippines (1/2/9)

Wait, who? Yes, the Philippines are in this alliance as well! Although, there's not much of a difference. The Philippines are in the corner of the map, and there's not much of the Philippine purple to go around. Its only border is with the scary Indonesians who aren't messing around, so good luck beating them! There's simply nothing beneficial that the Philippines gives other than the extra firepower, and not much of that either.

Portugal (5/5/10)

Next to its larger neighbor, Spain, Portugal's always been a target. So give them credit; they've lasted this long, and have even made some progress into Spanish lands at times. While Portugal is only connected to Spain by land, it also has connections to the Americas through the Azores. This makes them the first line of defense for the primarily Terran North America, and provides a base of operations for any attacks on Europe. Portugal has always been a team player, coordinating its attacks to a tee, helping to conquer its opponents with relative ease at times.

Romania (6/9/9)

Romania is an X-factor, being next to two major powers. However, its strength is very volatile at times. Take its conquest for Hungary as a benchmark, and it seems very impressive, but looking at Hungary's resurgence over the last week, it makes it seem as if Romania merely took what Hungary gave to them rather than earning it. Romania is a key country in the battle to gain dominance in the Balkans, both in militaristic and coordination means.

Russia (8/4/6)

While creepy Russia can't rely on its deadly winter in this game (get on it, devs!), it's still a formidable force. With borders with China, Scandinavia, and the Baltic, it's not the greatest group of potential new slaves, but by far not the worst. It's quite powerful as well, easily defeating members of ABC and fending off Norwegian revolts. However, Russia has had its share of drama concerning the two joint alliances. As part of Terra, it's had problems balancing its own glory with the well-being of their EDEN 'friends'.
