The Speaker's Wor😛 71st Congress, Vol. 3 - This Week in Congress

Welcome to THE SPEAKER'S WOR😨 the official journal of the eUSA Congress.

Dateline: Saturday, November 9 (Day 2181)
Location: 71st US Congress
Editor: George Armstrong "Old Man" Custer
Music: Pink Floyd - Echoes / Live at Pompeii

The Word of the Day:
: 1 : Follow up to Last Week's Reports
: 2 : This Week's Congressional Activity
: 3 : The Week Ahead

Editor's Note: As promised, at least one Word per week. I'd like to do more, but RL has me short on game time and I'm doing well to keep up with my duties as a Congressman much less try to publish this paper more than once this week.

Follow-up to Last Week's Congressional Activity Reports

Congressional Whip (the guy who sends out letters to Congressmen to remind them of Discussions and Votes) NewAzazel was elected President; our new Whip is DrSarin.

The [Discussion] The formation of an IES "White-List" thread petered out, and is looking like it won't be brought to a Vote due to enough opposition indicating a new Proposal would fail by a large margin.
The main points of contention are whether or not this represents more work for IES, whether or not it would be an effective tool to aid Congress in granting citizenship top returning citizens, and the misconception that this would serve as a "free pass for Elites."
The Discussion thread remains open, though, and still may be moved to a Vote at some point if more support is developed for it.

The October Budget was passe😛 26 Yes; 0 No; 1 Abstain

[Discussion] Modification of The Code of the eUS Section 2.21, which called for new guidelines on qualifications for Speaker of the House, ended without going to Proposal and Vote.

The Censure of Paul Proteus was overturned.

Speaker of the House Evry sought to trim the list of Congressional Advisors... posted Nov 6: "Well, I removed Othere and TanishQ."

Last week I did a shell of a segment about IES (Immigration) statistics. Post-publication I found that the specific numbers are, and will remain, classified information due to the potential that Ajay/RGR might use them to develop new strategies in his ongoing effort to fu*k America.

This Week's Congressional Activity

Twenty-nine Congressmen signed in on Nov 5th; quorum is set at 19.

Stephen S, a five-time Congressman, granted citizenship outside IES guidelines and was automatically censured-- his friend is not considered a security risk.
He did request expedited approval in the IES forum, but didn't wait for approval from IES Director Malarkey83.
Stephen S did not protest his automatic censure; a Discussion was opened to determine whether or not a Vote would be taken to overturn it. The matter was not moved to a Vote; the censure stands.

Congressman dmjohnson started [Discussion] Raising Import Tax, which continues as an active thread.
This was discussed during the 70th Congress, not brought to a Vote then, and is expected to not be brought to a Vote this time, either.

Each new President composes, with the help of Congress and Advisers, a new New Citizen Message, which must be approved by Congress to become an automated in-game letter to all new citizens.
President NewAzazel brought his first draft to Congress on his first full day in office, it got tweaked a little and was sent to in-game Vote for Approval the same day.

More in-game Proposals:

While Congress does develop many of its own Discussion/Vote threads-- changing Taxes, modifying the Constitution and Code, etc.-- there are certain things we are directed by the President to Accept or Reject in-game.
Congress does not necessarily Approve all these things without Discussion, but for the most part we do accept that the President, Cabinet and Advisers have already hammered out what's right before coming to Congress for our approval.

Approve😛 Transfer 400000 USD from the country accounts to Congressional Budget Office
Normal operating procedure-- this is your tax dollars being moved to the CBO, from which funds are transferred to the various Budget line-holders.

Approve😛 President of Paraguay proposed a mutual protection pact.

Approve😛 Leave Circle of Trust alliance

Proposed by outgoing President Frost, after founding member Chile began the parade of nations voting to dissolve the alliance.
Note that last week Congress voted to pay the US' membership fees; all former CoT members' fees were partially refunded.

The Week Ahea😛

Next Friday is Party President election day. Our national goal is to once again PTO Ajay/RGR's Party-- currently called Reagan Conservative Party, which is in 6th place and slowly building. The "ATO candidate" is William Henry French. Defeating Ajay/RGR every month serves two purposes: it breaks his morale and that of his loyalists, and every time he must abandon and rebuild he leaves behind a number of multis and inactives.

Watch the White House Press Report and President Azazel's newspaper for news about the newly formed Department of Human Resources to see how you can help America's baby boom, as well as information and instructions about helping keep America safe and our elections free.

The Legislative Branch and Public Congressional Proceedings are where Congress conducts almost all its business, and are there for you to follow our Discussions and Votes.
