The Slavic – Orthodox Alliance

Beogradski Sindikat challenged me and other writers to write our opinion regarding the new geopolitical situation. I have accepted the challenge and I would like to talk about the Slavic – Orthodox Alliance, and idea marketed by Romania.

History has shown that alliances rise and fall. A year ago Atlantis ruled the world. It gathered almost all imperialist countries under one common goal, to get more regions. But the demise brought PEACE to power. It has turned the geopolitical scene, Atlantis lost all the regions, it has crumbled and EDEN took the place of Atlantis. PEACE succeeded in wiping many EDEN countries from the map, but this brought up the morality of its actions as it was supposed to be a defensive alliance. This lead to the downfall of PEACE as some countries left the alliance and EDEN took the upper hand once again.

The Slavic Union and the Orthodox Alliance

The idea of these 2 unions appeared recently. Let’s take a look at what countries could join these 2 alliances:

Slavic Union – Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Bulgaria

The Orthodox Alliance – Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Moldavia.

As you can see out of the 13 countries only 4 are in both alliances.

The Slavic – Orthodox Alliance

It contains all countries form the 2 alliances mentioned before. In reality only 4 countries meet both criteria to be both Slavic as Orthodox.

In fact as a Slavic alliance would have a real reason, a common background in RL, the Orthodox alliance is just an invention to get Romania and Moldavia into this alliance. The Orthodox alliance is just a pretext as this whole Eastern Alliance was an idea to disrupt cooperation and weaken ties between PEACE countries.

Defensive alliance or fun alliance?

There are 2 possible options. The Slavic – Orthodox Alliance could be a defensive or an offensive alliance.

Defensive alliance – People will end up getting bored. In time if they choose to go attack attacking other nations they will end up just like PEACE.

Offensive alliance

This raises more questions. Probably Romania and Croatia will go after Hungary, Poland will go after Germany and the Baltic countries, Greece maybe after Turkey but what about the rest?

Will Serbia attack Hungary? Will Serbia forget the common in game history and help Croatia to destroy Hungary?

What about Russia? They will more then certainly go after Norway, Finland and Sweden. After that the USA will come soon. What will Romania, Croatia and Poland do about these attacks? Will they forget the strong ties these countries had and send their soldiers go capture Sweden and the USA? I do not think so. This means that the alliance will break up sooner than it was formed. Will Greece send its soldiers to fight against the Americans who liberated Greece? I do not think so.

Propaganda

Taking into account that only 4 out of 13 countries meet both criteria imagine the propaganda used against 9 countries. Romanians should forget their origin, they are Slavic. Croats are Orthodox.

Could it be reality?

Yes it can be done, but only under certain conditions. Because there are countries from both alliances it is not enough that some countries leave PEACE, the other countries should leave EDEN.

Current differences must be put apart. Countries that fought against each other must become friends. People who insulted each other must become friends. It is really hard to imagine this could happen.

Common goals must be found, goals that suit the interest of all members. There are some members that are currently boxed in. I am talking mainly about Serbia and Croatia. In a purely Slavic alliance Serbia could go after the high iron region of Greece. In the Orthodox alliance Serbia will never be able to get that high iron region they want and deserve.

What If this becomes a reality?

The Slavic – Orthodox Union will represent a menace to the USA, Hungary and the Scandinavian countries. They will form an alliance meant to defend them from the threat of the Slavic – Orthodox Alliance. Probably the Baltic countries, Germany and the UK will also join this alliance. Should we call it the Catholic Alliance? South – American countries together with Spain will form the Latin Alliance and will probably be joined by France and Italy. This will lead to the formation of an Asian Alliance too.

The Slavic – Orthodox Alliance is a regional Alliance, so it will be great on the defense, but would prevent inner countries to go on the offense. It will also push neighbouring countries to form regional alliances to counter the threat.


Why was the idea of such an alliance brought up?

Romania who marketed the idea was after 2 goals. To destroy PEACE from the inside and the other one is closely related to this goal, was to prepeare an assault on Hungary. In reality Romania is not interested to join such an alliance as it would mean the distruction of EDEN.

What about PEACE?

PEACE is not dead, but we must reform it. We must learn from our mistakes and we should learn from our enemies. EDEN proved that it’s strenght comes from its unity. We must do the same. We should help each other when member states of PEACE come under attack and we must prepare together plans which will involve directly all members. Maybe a new alliance will rise on the backbone of PEACE. It must be an active alliance which helps out its members when they come under attack and which helps it members achieve their goals.

P.S. I know this is not related directly to this article but I want to thank you. Serbia has given a lot of help to Hungary lately. We shall never forget this. You are great warriors. I tip my hat in front of you.
