THE SINKING OF ATLANTIS?
I took the weekend off from writing. I'm excited to be be back. I want to touch on a couple of subjects in this article so bear with me.
First, we're starting to see the fallout from the Romanian debacle. Please read the eU.S. president's article for proof:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/usa-and-the-atlantis-problem-war-games-postponed--803283/1/20
I felt the pillars of ATLANTIS shake when Romania lost three regions in one day and mentioned it in my last article. Apparently, I wasn't the only one:
The State Department is exploring our options for a post-ATLANTIS existence (or possibly for a reformed ATLANTIS). This is a step that I'm moving forward with as the Nation's Chief Diplomat.
I have delayed making this type of decision but I have come to the conclusion that we need a strong alliance that is capable of standing up to PEACE and is not obsessed with talking things out and meticulously over planning and failing to synchronize in time to respond to threats. We need an alliance that will be better able to respond to the types of tactics that PEACE continues to use so effectively against the ATLANTIS nations.
While I do not always agree with scrabman, I do think he is right on the money with this line of thought. I am predicting however, that he will not be able to see the end of this project as president. While the blame can not fall solely on him for the failures of ATLANTIS in Romania, the fact remains that what happened last week was a HUGE loss. I don't know if it could have been avoided but I think his legacy has been cemented. He was in charge when it all went down. The eU.S. needs a fresh face to lead its citizens, rally its allies and forge new international relationships.
But where does that leave eSpain? Well, we are now the premier high iron source for ATLANTIS. This is excellent for us. We need to leverage our position to influence our allies to do what is right. A large problem for us right now is the impending war between Germany and Sweden. I don't know what we should do right now and I haven't seen what the official policy is of our government (can someone comment on this) but I do think we can broker a peace by using our top quality iron as a deal sweetener. Or if you want to take the jaded side, I suggest all you iron and weapon producers start sending your product to those two markets. You could have a chance to make a tidy profit should it turn into a protracted war. However, I think the destabilization of Western Europe can only hinder eSpain in the long run and so I think we should do everything we can to broker a peace.
Finally, I've wanted to help out newer players and immigrants with my articles but world affairs got ahead of me. So for all you n00bs I have a great reference article for you:

This article outlines which button (i.e. work, train, fight, heal) you should hit first and why. The order you should click on them varies on a few factors. It is even a good read for the more experienced players who may not have put much thought into the order of events.
