The PEACE debate

Day 667, 15:20 Published in Austria USA by stancel

Austria is a founding member of PEACE. There are a number of us who oppose PEACE, and I did too (I still am skeptical of the alliance). Though, I didn't want that to define me, so I never joined the OIP.

An overhaul of the PEACE system would restore its credibility, and what appears to have been its original purpose. If we can accelerate the return of occupied regions, we will not come off as imperialistic warlords. Certainly, it's apparent that Indonesia and Hungary control much of the occupied regions. That has to change. These countries must be allowed to become sovereign again. That includes Switzerland, our neighbor.

Austria has done right to protect a position of neutrality. I don't want us to anger or provoke our neighbors, especially Hungary. Regardless, we should strive for a consensus to be reached between pro-PEACE and anti-PEACE/pro-EDEN elements. Let's not let that issue make us enemies.

Too many think the interests of Austria begin and end with the PEACE issue. If we stay in PEACE, let us increase our presence and voice to bring reform. If we leave PEACE, let us seek more allies to protect us. Our ultimate goal together should be strengthening the welfare and security of Austria.
