The Martin van Buren Memorial League
Kaminarinote
So I’ve been kind of bored recently, and when I get bored I start playing around with Excel. In that time, I made a bare-bones – and I mean bare-bones – soccer (football) scoreline generator. It’s a pretty simple layout: both players send the simulator their “focus” on forwards, midfielders, and defenders, any number from 1-5 with a maximum of 10 worth of focus overall. The number is plugged into this engine and two random numbers representing goals scored pop up. A lot of things, some would argue the “best parts” aren’t represented (such as penalties, injuries, individual players, etc.) in this engine…but that isn’t really the point. Like I said, it’s bare-bones…and it’s made with a purpose.
I want to start, like, you know, a league – right? At this point, I’m looking for a way to offload all the Q6s I had stored up from my Captain of Industry/buying tanks days. I get my needs fulfilled by the very excellent SHIELD supply system, and have no need for all these items. They’re taking up space. Rather than sell them I thought I’d have some fun.
Anyone is eligible. eAmericans, Feds, and SHIELD members will get preferential treatment in escalating order (the more of those you are the more preferential you'll be treated). Preferential treatment includes: first pick of team name, city, colours, plus modifiers to rolls.
Interested parties should PM me with the following information:
- Team Name
- Manager (your player name. You don’t need to include this, I’ll see it in the PM)
- City (what city you play out of)
- Colours (home and away)
Once we get some teams together, I’ll put together a league table. After that, we’ll start playing games. I’ll PM the two teams, they’ll send me the aforementioned focus numbers for Forwards, Midfielders, and Defenders. When both send me, the “game” will be played, and I’ll publish an article stating the winners of each competition. Winners will receive 10 Q6s for basically doing nothing, and if it’s a tie both win 5 Q6s.
This is a REALLY casual league, so if it isn’t on any form of regular schedule, please forgive me. If things go well, some kind sirs/madams donate, and participation is high I might make a championship round with bigger prizes. No promises.
Again: those interested in earning Q6 weapons from a really casual league should PM me with their team information ASAP so I can set up a league table. Games start whenever.
Until next time,
Kaminarinote
P.S Yes, I know ESMS exists...but as someone who was a veteran of New Faustian Man's ersatz World Cup, I know firsthand how intricate and, well, a pain in the a** it is to operate. This is much simpler. Also, my contest.

So Japan says "I choose you, Pikachu," and Haruhi goes to play for Mexico?

Should be fun!
Nice. I have been trying to get something similar stared in eIreland.
nice
The scoring formula is:
(my forwards - opponent's defenders) - (my midfielders - opponent's midfielders) + random number
So basically increasing number of midfielders causes decreasing my final score.
Only if your opponent has more midfielders does your score decrease. The key is balancing your midfielders to your forwards and defenders. Keep in mind forwards are your primary goal scorers and your defenders are your primary goal stoppers. Midfielders, and their focus on being the "passers" in the game, are best represented by this number.
In short, balance your number of forwards, midfielders, and defenders to your play style to best creature your team.
I think you want to put + instead of - before the second brackets otherwise your answer doesn't make sense.
For example:
my mid = 3
opp mid = 5
Then the contribution of second brackets to my final score is 2. But I think that you didn't mean this way.
You're right. Thanks for spotting my error, MrFahrenheit. It's been corrected!
