The Irish Military Party (IMP)

Day 2,087, 11:31 Published in Ireland Ireland by Death and Taxes

Hello everyone. Today I am pleased to announce the official launch of Ireland's latest political entity, the Irish Military Party, or IMP. http://www.erepublik.com/en/party/irish-military-party-4478/1 (I can hear Bhane groan from across the ocean). But actually in fairness, this political party has a right to exist because it brings into focus something none of the other parties, indeed, perhaps no party in eRepublik encapsulates, and that is the game itself.

Pretty much every other party concentrates on whatever role-playing personae they wish to espouse. For example, the Independent Labour Party are a haven for terrorists who insist on role-playing their failed various communist and socialist mantras. Then you have pretty much every other party espousing Irish national virtues such as insisting on a unified Ireland or having Cork as the capital.

We at the IMP consider these values to be quite charming in an antiquated way, but by and large irrelevant in how this game actually works. In fact, the majority of parties in eRepublik, and therefore the majority of governments, enact legislation and wars that bear no resemblance to what is actually happening in the game, or the military and political situations surrounding them.

At the IMP, we intend to focus on game mechanics and the reality of current and future world alliances. As we don't feel constrained by various role-playing agendas, this means that we can put forward policies that maximise Ireland's potential, regardless of our size.

We also believe that in understanding how the game actually works, we can maximise the potential of each individual, and therefore maximise the collective.

In essence:

We believe in a national army. This is the Irish Army. As the IA and its commanders are sworn to follow the orders of the CP, we believe that the IA should receive the sole focus, benefit and largesse of the Irish government.

While we understand and appreciate how game mechanics are used to gain individual and national goals, we draw the line on PTO's (political take overs) both on party and on a national basis.

We believe that every country in eRepublik has a right to exist on the map, and that permawipes are an unacceptable face of eRepublik. When we are in a boss alliance, we intend to show the mercy, understanding and compassion that they failed so patently to do.

I hereby open our doors and invite you all to join. Your opinions and direction are more than welcome.

I am, and remain,

Death & Taxes
