White House Press Room - Day 1529

The Good, The Bad, and The Oblige

Dateline: Friday, January 27, 2012 (Day 1529)
Location: White House Press Room

Today's Agenda: Galicia; UK & Serbia; Dept of Education

The Rain War in Spain Stays Mainly in the Plain

President Oblige declared the occupied region of Galicia to be a No-Pizza Zone and launched a successful temporary quit-claim in the form of a Resistance War, in which US forces fought for the Spanish Resistance and Pizza-led Serbians fought whined to retain US possession. This innovative strategy not only removed Galicia from the US Congressional election, but gave us a border with Spain so we could declare them as our Natural Enemy.
Shortly after the "reverse victory" at Galicia, the US launched a direct attack to regain the anchovy-rich region... without cheese, but with double meat in the form of 10% Natural Enemy Bonus points which add to every fighter's personal strength as well as to the battlefield damage.
It's a "win-win-win" situation all around.

Of course the daily RW at Asturias is in play, so let's remember to protect our Iron.

Brozil and Spain continue to throw rocks at each other as well, with direct attacks by Spain against Castilla y Leon and by Brozil against Andalucia.

What No Congress Means to U.K. and Serbia
With much help from Extremely Elder Statesman Cromstar

Wiping out an enemy country is always cause to celebrate. But doing it on Congress Election Day has long term effects by hobbling (but not completely crippling) the nation's ability to function.

No Congress means no in-game Proposals other than what the Country President can make. In Serbia, for instance, a rogue Congressman's last Proposal before the freeze was to raise their New Citizen Fee to some absurd amount. Serb Congress jumped on it and put it down before their ability to vote was stopped at 06:00 Jan 26. The next Proposal is from the Serb CP, to move funds via purchasing a Defense System. He'll be the only one able to vote on the Proposal and so it passes. This is how the both the Serbian and U.K. governments will function for the next 30 days.

Serb and U.K. CPs will be able to Propose and pass MPPs with their one vote. And as their allies make MPP Proposals, those too, will pass with the single CP vote. As MPPs expire and require renewing, these nations' Country Accounts will continue to be sapped by the need to supply their Armies.

This will be particularly problematic for the U.K., as they're down to around $700,000 GBP. As a point of reference, the US government spends more than that every week. Given the U.K.'s limited and sporadic existence one region at a time, sometimes, their income will be somewhere between jack and squat, further compounding their inability to function.

The U.K.'s country account well is going to run dry real fast, and ONE is expected to hang them out to dry... again, again. Brits are abandoning their country like rats from a sinking armada, scrambling to find ONE nations willing to grant citizenship to their second class puppet allies.

19:34 GoalieBCSC: ON THIS DAY JAN 26 AT 19:33 CST CUSTER LEARNED SOMETHING.

Late day 1528 Maps show that neither Serbia or the U.K. are dead and gone.

The Brits continue to hopscotch around their former empire with Ireland, Canada and France swatting them like flies, but maggots form every day and new flies appear which need swatting.

Serbia is enjoying a bit of an RL media blitz, resulting in a huge eRep baby boom. Serbia's map space continues to grow daily as well, a reminder that down is not out and we must not be complacent in our efforts to put Serbia back in their box and keep them there.

Department of Education
Secretary of Education Serendipitous

The Department of Education's main function is oversight of the Mentor Program. The United States Mentor Program is aimed at providing food and knowledge to the new eRepublik players in an effort to ensure retention and activity.

There are mentors working around the clock to care for their mentees and educate them in any way possible.
The Mentor Program works with Bewbs for Newbs to provide food for new players. There are currently 20 mentors working with numerous new players each, helping them find their way through the somewhat overwhelming first weeks of game play.

To become a mentor, contact Flashgun or Jon Malcom.

For more information helpful to new players, please see
