The First RightCon
Cromstar
You may have noticed that today's eWorld if going through massive upheavals. Indonesia and Romania slug it out, there are a half dozen Resistance Wars going on simultaneously, and the European power blocs are smashing up against each other constantly. In the midst of all this, the United States and other nations are gearing up for Congressional elections on the 25th.
Last night, in a not-quite-so-secret meeting, the leaders of 4 parties (the Libertarian, Nationalist, Federalist, and American Right parties) and representatives from 2 or 3 other parties (Conservative Party because DF was unable to attend, UIP, and a smaller party or two) met for what we called RightCon, or the Right-side Convention.
What is RightCon? Well, as the name suggests, it is a convention of parties on the 'right' side of the eAmerican political spectrum, who gathered to discuss matters of importance in their minds. Now, don't mistake me. Just because its the 'right' side of politics doesn't mean we are going to fight a horribly partisan campaign and devolve into the muck-raking and mud-flinging that accompanies RL American politics. On the contrary, we were gathered to promote unity and cooperation. As a mater of fact, a number of UIP members attended the meeting as well. See? We aren't hateful people, mostly 😉
We discussed a great number of things, including upcoming Congressional elections and the state of Congress today. However, the most important part of the evening came when we began to talk about the May 5th Country President (CP) election.
As many of you are probably aware, in this month's CP election, incumbent Scrabman won by a landslide. At RightCon a number of members and PPs believed that he won due to a number of factors: first, his popularity is through the roof and that drew a lot of cross-party voters. Second, because the other, smaller parties each produced their own candidates, there was little organization among people running against Scrabman.
RightCon members want to see that changed. We, at our RightCon meeting, decided that in order to make eAmerican politics more competitive, more democratic, and more interesting, the right-sided parties should all try and support a single candidate to run against President Scrabman.
(Now, I'm going to go out on a small tangent here with two points. First, the RightCon endorsement is not an official mandate to the involved parties. They are not bound to support the RightCon candidate, though it is strongly recommended. Second, and I'm inserting this because I promised I would point this out, an endorsement from RightCon in no way implies that other candidates are unqualified. RightCon discussed a number of potential candidates before picking one, and all of them were strong candidates. We don't hate any of them, or any other candidate, including President Scrabman. We simply feel that by unifying a few parties, the political process is strengthened, and all eUS citizens benefit from a chance to consider at least two strong, potential candidates.)
Who did we endorse, you ask? After much deliberation and discussion, RightCon officially endorsed the current Speaker of the House, the Congressman from Indiana, Kyle321n!
As the Chair of RightCon, I strongly urge all members of the parties attending RightCon to support Kyle as your parties nominee! Let's make May the most memorable election in the history of eAmerican politics! RightCon asks all members to give Kyle fair consideration. We don't believe now is the time for divisive politics; now is the time for unity, strength, and democracy!
We wish good luck to all Congressional candidates, and to all Presidential candidates. RightCon looks forward to an engaging election cycle. May good fortune smile upon the eUSA!

Holy crap I was there for a little while! 😃
Had somebody of given me a heads up I would of been able to attend. I would be fine with endorsing Kyle however I would rather wait until we have a better idea who all is running for president.
HELL NO I WOULD RATHER VOTE MICHAEL LEWIS FOR PRESIDENT!
right on...nice job my fellow CvP.
voted and subscribed
who was there representing the UIP and the Conservatives?
If only RL conservatives were respectful and intelligent as eConservatives.
if only RL political person were as respectful as on erep. Of course, there are a lot less emotional issues on erep.
True, we don't have to worry about overweight oxycotin addicts with giant cigars sticking out of their mouths in erep. But who is erep's Rush Limbaugh? (If I'm offending any of you with my left leaning politics feel free to let me know and I will stop.)
I think it was an interesting affair even if you kicked me. It is nice to get some organization. You generally have my support. We can't all win but it is best to have a chance to not all lose. I am not completely satisfied yet but maybe that is just my fault for not educating everyone yet.
I like Kyle321n, so this has nothing to do with him.
I know it is not your intention. By definition though, banding together is polarizing the political landscape. You have just created one side of the political pole. Human nature will unfortunately create the second pole.
Congrads, this becoming more like real life. One mistake I hope you all avoid, this is not real life. Too many individuals cannot cut the cords of RL and view this eWorld as a shadow of RL. I believe our goals are very different in eRepublik. When creating policies I hope you keep in mind the point of this game, to win.
How you win depends upon the individual, but I define it as dominating the international scene. (which is completely dependent upon domestic and local policy).
I think it's a good idea, must have been kinda hard to reach a consensus on who'd better represent the Right Parties but it's worth it.
Tarik Ibn Zia😛 Some parties have similar interests, so it makes sense at times to be on the same page. This election is one of those times. Your warning of US vs. THEM is cute, and if your party didn't have this country's politics by the balls I might be inclined to take it more seriously. It already is the USWP vs. Everyone Else, so your warning is a tad late and pointed in the wrong direction.
'Dominating the international scene' is how you have defined 'winning,' but I think a lot of people in this game would disagree. WINNING in a political simulator SHOULD BE becoming the strongest nation possible without sacrificing your ideals and your morality. Is it your vision to dominate other countries? To take their land and resources? Or perhaps you'd like to jump deeper into bed with ATLANTIS and assist Romania in being completely unstoppable, even against the US. That is your prerogative.
The sheer number of conservative parties in this game should give you a good inclination of the ACTUAL majority mentality. However, the majority is not being fairly represented because of the USWP behemoth. Banding together to change that is well within our rights, and is our responsibility as citizens who put the US ahead of ATLANTIS.
>I know it is not your intention. By definition though, banding together is polarizing the political landscape. You have just created one side of the political pole. Human nature will unfortunately create the second pole.
My friend, USWP created the pole last summer, when it started aggressive politics. They teamed up with AAP for a few months to dominate the congress with liberals. The conservatives haven't created the pole, they've just responded. It took us a while to get comfortable with the idea, but we're here, we're not commies, get used to it.
>When creating policies I hope you keep in mind the point of this game, to win.
Oh god no
I like seeing the way we are all organizing. Kudos for that.
I guess we'll just have to see what Kyle's policies are.
fingerguns-can anyone describe life better than you.. write a book. no, really.
fingerguns: I re-read my post, and realized that I was wrong and completely off base. My apologies, I wish I had reflected more on the topic before posting.
Polarization does not matter. What is important is that you all came together to discuss policy and create a unified voice. Such activities will improve this country, regardless of who agrees and disagrees with your philosophy. For that, I applaud you all's actions. Furthermore, a stronger base for your candidate will create a worthy opponent for whomever runs, thereby forcing all candidates to work harder at refining policy concepts. This will, at the very least, improve our over-all policies and the quality of candidates.
As for my comments on domination, I did not speak as to how such power should be used. Only that we should be the sole super-power. It is how one acts with absolute power that defines ones charecter and more. I concur, to run rampage and destroy everyone because we can would run against the fundamental ethos of our great nation.
None the less, I still believe that we have a patriotic and fiduciary responsibility to ensure our security as the dominant power. In this eWorld, that means being the dominant power or influencing force on the world stage. But, I believe the character of our people, our leaders, and our belief are as such that the world has nothing to fear. The end result would be quite unlike the consequences that would occur if some of the other countries became a sole dominant force.
Again, my apologies for a hasty reply. I have left it as a testament of my fallibility, and the importance to read posts a few times before posting. Thanks for calling me out.
I r pretty cool guy. I'm just saying.
I like it. It should be spirited. I'm surprised the "Right," as it were, hadn't bothered to read "Coalition Politics 101" until now.
Probably has something to do with the fact that in RL -- not the RL, I know, but we do live in RL -- the American Left is usually the side of the aisle practicing Coalition Politics.
With exception to love/hate relationship with the Evangelical Christians -- which despite popular sentiment, they should want them; because every vote counts, even if a Jesus Freak is casting it -- the Right is generally enshrined around fiscal conservatism and an improved military (corrupting political power, not withstanding of course).
Meanwhile the American Left works on as many of the smaller caucuses they can, which is actually a boon to building the larger political base. The caveat to such a strategy is that they usually end up having to make more promises than the Right. The drawback is the political backlash from failing to meet the greater number of promises... your electorate would just assume to skip the election if they think you're just going to lie to them in front of the cameras while begging for your vote.
Considering where the roots of the American Right lies, I'm surprised a coalition happened at all. However for the sake of the Right in this game, I am glad that it did. 😛
jesus, talk about tl;dr in these comments!
Good article, although, go U.S.W.P! ;p
Voted.
booo this is the start of partisanship in this game, don't lump people together as "right" or "left" thats the problem with our RL parties, parties stand ALONE, thats why they are parties in the first place!
As a newcomer to eAmerica, this move just makes sense. We need to form a coalition of right-leaning parties and move forward with a unified voice.
