The Empires Strike Back

Day 2,191, 11:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by HebronGazelle

Happy 6th Birthday eRepublik! Normally you give presents to the birthday boy/girl but this time eRepublik is giving us a gift. After constant moaning from players, occupied countries will now get a bonus when fighting their oppressors. This could stop TWO's dominance across the globe. But at the same time, the eUK could literally become the British Empire in the game. This article looks at the new changes being brought in by the admins.

Empires
"Empires are countries that dominate the New World through their extreme military power and vast territories. In order to be declared as an Empire in eRepublik, a state needs to gather enough Country Power."

So for a country to become an empire, they must gather enough country power. But what's country power? Country power is an indication of the military strength of a country, through their ability to hold regions as well as the size of their armies. The amount of country power is determined by two further variables; military power and controlled regions.

Yeah, Poland has a lot of controlled regions, we can expect them to be an empire.

Military power is the offensive capabilities of all active soldiers in military units(so join a military unit now). Controlled regions are what they say, controlled regions. Regions conquered from countries with higher military power give more country power, and the same for regions held for a long time.

It is unconfirmed at the moment, but empires are likely to get some bonus. This could be gold or more power on the battlefield, or something else. What does this mean for the game? Countries like Poland, Serbia and China are more likely to fight for themselves if they are having some trouble trying to hold onto their empire. If this greed happens, smaller TWO countries might lose battles without the help from their big allies(although good allies wouldn't do this). It will also give reasons for countries to attack other countries. For example, the eUK wants an empire already, and if they get bonuses from this we can expect more wars for the country so they can conquer more regions.

Determination
"When a region is kept under foreign occupation, the people’s determination to overthrow the oppressors increases over time. This leads to a Determination Bonus that multiplies the influence in battles against the oppressor."

When a Resistance War is started, the influence of each soldier fighting for the resistance is multiplied with the determination bonus. So the fighters in an occupied country will do more influence on a battle, giving themselves more chance to get free. This influence is only used for moving the wall in battle, so you wont deal more damage. Also, only regular weapons and bazookas are affected by the determination bonus.

Move that wall!

As a complete example, Poland could be holding Serbian regions(but they don't, so don't worry). Resistance war battles would be close because both countries have similar military power. If Serbia were to gain a bonus when fighting Poland, they would be likely to free their regions. We will see this situation often across the eWorld after the update, close wars will get even closer and small countries will have more of a chance to free themselves. This will make the game more interesting as TWO will lose some of their power across the eWorld, and we might see less wiped countries across the eWorld. When trying to win resistance wars, damage will have to be coordinated better by military units if they are going to win. It also brings hope!
