The Economist ~ Dear Ireland...
Spite313
Dear friends,
I am writing to you today as a British citizen, not as a Phoenix official or as a representative of the British government. I am writing to you as someone with strong RL connections to Ireland, and as someone who can empathise with even the most radical of the people of Éire.
I am writing to you as someone who has seen the actions of the government of Ireland, and can empathise with those too. It is understandable- Ireland is a small country, with a long tradition of creating a lot out of the poor hand the admins have dealt you in terms of raw materials. You have a complex political history, close links with the English speaking world and a long (and honest) history of neutrality.
When Poland invaded the UK, I expected Hungarian, and German, and Serbian help. I expected our good allies the Russians, Estonians and Lithuanians to come. I knew the wall would hold because despite what critics of Phoenix say we do what we can whenever we can to protect our own. And Britain did herself proud adding 350+ thousand damage to the wall, especially good considering our low active population and lack of resources for tanking.
Ireland decided to remain neutral in this conflict, as is her right as a sovereign nation. However, I will tell you this- if Ireland is invaded by ANY POWER I will oppose it. I will move to Ireland if possible and fight against them. I will do my utmost to encourage my country and alliance to do the same. Although decisions have been made which could cause division, I consider our friendship with the Irish people to be inviolate.
In the event of an invasion of Éire I will be there, fighting alongside Padraig Pearse- Despite him repeatedly posting images of dead British civilians, or links to terrorist bomb plots in our public IRC. Because I don’t think reciprocating hatred does anyone any good. I see people who will personally attack a country such as the eUK- which has people of many ethnic, religious and national backgrounds- on the basis of something over which we have no control as sad.
So really this is just a short letter to assure you (the Irish public) that we do not consider your government’s actions to be reprehensible, evil or otherwise offensive. We understand, and most of us will still shed blood defending Ireland regardless. Because a friendship which has been around since the dawn of eRepublik is too valuable to throw away.
Thank you for reading,
Iain Keers

Nice propaganda 😃
You seem a sad man Spencer, have you truly nothing better to do all day than troll our articles?
lol uk is shit, u even took some of their regions before when peace attacked US and canada
I like JvB's comment 😛
As an eUK citizen, I read this article thinking you are trying to guilt the Irish into helping us, which is wrong in my opinion.
Sorry about PP we don't want him either haha.
As I predicted- trolling :3
It seems nobody can just accept goodwill anymore.
"😉espite your government not helping us in our time of need, I consider our friendship with the Irish people to be inviolate."
This had to be put in bold didn't you...
Tekkez is right, Iain. You may be trying to hide this but trying to use this to make us guilty about the descision won't work.
Your basically saying "EVEN though Ireland won't help us in OUR time of need WE WILL HELP YOU *CUES MUSIC*"
I see through this charade, despite comments due to come after that you don't mean it in this way.
I'm being honest Niall, we will come and help you. If you're feeling a sense of personal guilt then I'm sorry about that.
We forgive you for not helping us.
We forgive you for not helping us.
We forgive you for not helping us.
Some people just can't take a complement I guess...
So much fun
>Some people just can't take a complement I guess...
You honestly see this as a complement and not an attempt to get the Irish to guilt into fighting?
This article is more insulting as it uses the technquies used to manipulate children. It's weak, obvious double meaning, and quite condescending.
This guy is in charge of some areas of Pheonix?
We heart Ireland. Keers for president.
Indeed, Tekkez.
I can see through those cynical comments my dear Keers and the rest of Ireland will too.
We may not be the best nation of soldiers, but GOD we have a hell of a lot of intellects and lawyers.
OK- here's the deal. I am being completely honest in this. I do have connections with Ireland, I do respect your country, I would come and fight for you, and I respect many Irish people are choosing to stand by us. Even if the Irish do almost no damage in our defence it is the thought that counts.
I wrote this article because I don't want Irish people to think the UK has basically rejected them and sees them as enemies. We don't. My point was that we will still fight for them regardless of what their government decides to do. My point was that we accept that making a bad decision for the UK is a good decision for Ireland. My point was that we know you are in a bad position.
If you choose to interpret that as propaganda that is your decision. We have made our statement- we will help you regardless of what happens. I can definitely understand why that might make people feel guilty, because if the situation was reversed I would feel guilty watching Ireland get invaded whilst the UK did nothing. But I didn't write this article for sympathy.
I hope that you can get out of the mindset you're in now, because it is very American. Not everything is trolling. Not everything is negative. Just because you're not in Phoenix doesn't mean we can't be friends and allies. Just because your government decided not to honour a longstanding friendship (not alliance- friendship) doesn't mean that the friendship no longer exists.
So yeh, if you want to go 'lolol british propaganda' then fine. I am not here because your DAMAGE means a lot to us, but because your FRIENDSHIP does. the 30k or so damage Ireland would probably add by moving troops isn't going to effect a battle where millions of damage is being hit, but it would be a nice gesture.
Anyway, thanks for the trolling.
All jokes aside, this is why I have you on my friends list Iain. 07
"I hope that you can get out of the mindset you're in now, because it is very American. "
Very American indeed...
Iain, I'm getting a passive/aggressive vibe from reading this. If you don't like my decision just say so. No need to beat around the bush. I'm a big girl. I can take it.
But as I'm reading this, I can tell you don't understand our situation as well as you say you do. (That's me giving you the benefit of the doubt)
I don't know you. This is my first contact with you. But I would be interested in having a more extensive conversation if you are up for it. 🙂
I keep on hearing about our friendship. Yet, all I ever see on the forum and on the main site is inherent opposition to the United Kingdom. I can count those who are friendly with the UK on one hand...

I liked you up to there.

That is all
"If PEACE ever attacks Canada, I will be the first to fight to protect it" quote from an Englishmen.
Indeed, before the attack 'nobody' could consider anything else from the loyal friends the e-British are.Canada was one of their oldest ally and friend. And a neutral country.
One month later, half of Canada was in UK's hands.
Q.E.D.
( Other than this, hating e-UK because of whatever happened in RL is lame. )
I heart I heart I heart...
I don't know where that quote was from John_The_Brave but I've already had an extensive conversation with you about that situation, and about how it isn't as one-sided as US/EDEN propaganda makes out.
Firstly, I don't see the Polish/Spanish attack as reprehensible because we're enemies and that's what enemies do. Similarly our holding of French-occupied Canada (very briefly) was not reprehensible because UK had been openly non-aligned with Canada for months.
Secondly Ireland is a neutral nation, a friend, and a country which has (obviously) made a commitment not to take sides. I can respect that.
Btw, my comment about it being very American referred to the excessive trolling tactics the Americans use ingame, not to the real life group of people for whom I have only the greatest respect. After all, the UK has had at least 3 RL USA resident Presidents that I can think of, one of whom is in charge now.
I actually believe that Keers' intentions were neither good or bad when writing this article. He told it like it is, to para-phrase "Even though you(our friend) didn't defend us we'll still defend you".
Now this may indeed be what Keers intentions would be, but bring that question to the greater public of any group/oraganisation/country and I can assure you they would not all be so forgiving.
IMO just because we are so close to the UK doesn't make our relationship that much more special than any other country in the eWorld.
A friend to all? I don't think so.
More like, just no threat to anybody!(not acting as an independent force anyway!)
Kinda got me thinking about our introduction into PEACE...
I believe the comments from the USA were pretty much 'You traitors' when we decided to remain neutral
I mean would you prefer for the UK to tell you to piss off? to call you 'traitors'?
Where I am seated I can't think of a better responce from the British public, we are saying we consider you friends regardless of your neutrality which is a lot more than I can say for the ex ATLANTIS nations, you want to take this the wrong way? At least have the decency to step up say that our friendship is null.
But honestly this is not what the UK people want, we want to continue to live in peace and friendship with you, if you choose that that is not what you desire then we will graciously accept your decision and no further question you about it.
I'd help the e-uk if you gave us back the North. This game is bringing us back to what our ancestors did in 1914. John Redmond didn't get what he wanted when he led the Irish volunteers in support of the u.k. in the hope a swift victory would for them would ensure a free united Ireland. Indeed Irish support for British war efforts is forgotten.
Will the e-world be any different? don't think so Lets sit and watch, I like the polish
UK <3 Ireland.
'tis true.
I haven't wrote that to 'troll' this article. It's just that what happened then, I can't get out of my mind.
In RL I like UK...
Regardless of what has been said before in the article and in the comments. Here are 2 facts:
Ireland has never done the UK any wrongs.
The UK has never done Ireland any wrongs.
This is how I want it to stay. /end of
Nice
I left UK as no room for welsh interests 🙂
Thank you Iain.
Your goodwill is very much appreciated by me.
As an irish citizen, I can safely say "bite me". You made your bed, now lay in it
I do not desire friendship with Ireland. I'd love nothing more than to bring it under our dominion.
**not necessarily opinion of eUK navy**

-'the north' was never a part of eIreland. IRL the 6 counties of Northern Ireland were NEVER ruled from Dublin and has no desire to be.
-Irish support for british war efforts is forgotten by your own government, Northern Ireland remember it with pride and have several museums and parades to celebrate and remember.
thanks iain for the article and feedback, its getting quite annoying with people dragging RL into this the whole time, half the eUK citizens arent even english for heavens sake! cop on and grow up eIreland peeps with those issues! this is a game, we have never had a threat from the eUK,therefore upsetting the status quo in our neighbours is risky. besides if we want any hope of acquiring N Ireland, as some of you claim, then peaceful and agreeable means by common cause are more likely than us ever beating and then holding it would be. i would also point out, look at the liberation of belgium, germany and france that is being attempted now. eUK are good friends, what is eUSA doing for its allies?
