The Economist ~ Change at the top

Day 1,823, 09:41 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear friends,

Yesterday the parties of the UK elected new leaders, and there were some big changes at the top! The first issue I want to address in this article is the Astora issue, which relates to the permanent banning of an active TUP player. It turns out that this player was a reborn older citizen, whose original account was still active (ie not dead). There’s insufficient evidence to show that the account was being used as a multi-account, but TUP takes a very strong line on matters relating to cheating and the account has had access removed until the situation has been resolved. Fortunately the ban happened before the elections, and we were able to inform players that the Astora account was a multi and act accordingly. In my opinion it would have been a disaster for the party had he won. Players restart the game for all sorts of reasons, but it is always best to be honest, and most importantly to get any previous accounts removed by the admins before you create a new one.

In TUP we elected Bohemond, a new player born only a month ago, as leader of the party. It’ll be a difficult month for him, but he’s shown exceptional talent and dedication and the party was happy to endorse him for the leadership. UKPP has elected Lady MacBeth, a former government minister and “moderate” to their leadership, which is a great sign for the UK as a whole. Former PP Nick Griffin is currently in UKRP, where he moved to run for PP after resigning the Presidency a few days before the current elections. Some people thought this was a PTO attempt from UKPP, however every single senior figure in that party condemned his actions and it appears he received no support. As a result TheDark won the election in UKRP to become leader. In ESO a single-person election re-elected Apronchef. Most worrying though was the election of Sage Goku, aka Goku Jones as leader of New Era.

This is taken directly from Goku’s dramatic confession of his past sins, where he basically goes on about himself a lot. Goku is essentially a very self-centred player who does like to brag about all the great (mostly not great) things he’s done. In this article you can see some of the things he’s most proud of, including:

*Trying to destroy a country by PTOing it
*Making multis and getting them elected to congress so he can access sensitive issues, then leaking this information to our enemies to hurt the UK’s chances
*Using multis to rig elections in Japan. He tried this in the UK last month two by proposing a TUP and ESO candidate from parties controlled by multis in an attempt to divide the vote (failed)
*Use his stalker skills to find RL pictures of people he doesn’t like then bully them into quitting the game
*Gain influence by taking over top 5 parties in the UK and Japan (oh, he’s done that again)
*Stealing money given to him as a personal loan out of the goodness of Talon’s heart.

Well that is an impressive record there Goku! If I was a new party, just recently elevated into the top 5, I’d welcome a guy with a history of taking over small recently grown parties with open arms!

and just to show it’s not a recent trend...

Banned multi

So basically what you’ve gone and done New Era is elected a guy who is proud of the fact he cheats, proud of his ability to manipulate people into voting for him as Party President and proud of using that influence to screw around with the UK.

One of Goku’s images, celebrating his ability to manipulate UK citizens

The worst part is that I fully expect a wave of comments from New Era members and Goku himself saying that was the “old him” and he’s “completely different now”. This is almost funny, since this is what he always says every time. He is not a moron, he just doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He’s perfectly capable of being nice, rational and friendly when he wants to be. He’s also perfectly capable of abusing your trust, generosity and willingness to support him at the slightest sniff of benefit for him. In his own words, “I can and have done great good but I have no scruples about doing great evil if I am drive to it.” I would dispute he’s ever done anything good, but I certainly wouldn’t dispute he has a great capacity for selfishness and power play.

I don’t know what to advise the vast bulk of New Era members who have a self-declared bully, cheat and sociopath as leader, but whatever you do don’t let this man speak for you, and don’t let him lull you into a sense of trust, or you’ll regret it.
