The eCanadian Summit
The Summit is an idea, and idea with great opportunity and great power. the summit will be to Focus on the Issue. Not just any issue, the real ones.
What exactly is the eCanadian Summit? It's a meeting, a meeting of Party presidents and other invited dignitaries. This meeting will take place at a later unknown date on an IRC channel, with about 15 people representing parties and groups all across Canada. The main purpose is for Party President and significant others to get together and discuss a real issues affecting Canadian citizens, propose a way to deal with said problem, and finally get rid of the problem once and for all. my hope is that there will be more than one eCanadian Summit, even if this one may not be successful. I will be setting up a thread on the eCanadian Forums as well as the DAL Forums. My hope is that we will discuss a date that the majority can be a part of this. discuss some topics to be debated on, and publicize this event so that Canadians finally see something that could change the face of Canada forever.
I formally invite ALL Party Presidents, to join me in this great and hopefully life changing event for Canada. Remember, Canadians still believe in a Canada where anything is possible, they just don't believe their leaders do. Lets prove them wrong, lets finally make Canada a better place to be, lets finally make Canada equal, Lets prove to the world that Canada truly is the greatest country in the eWorld to live in!

@Trenton: It was the DAL and CPF Summit. And since you mentioned it: yes, it was backroom dealings in its purest form. They just didn't have the name project mayhem for it. apart from that it was very much alike.

Even excluding the idea that this "summit" is being used as a security blanket, it still sucks...big time.
I don't think a summit should be limited to the elites. That's why our community is so messed up as it is. You should open this 'summit' up to anyone who's interested and cares about the issues.

the idea only makes sense if the people included are not just the same people. It should include a wide range of eCanadians that bring something to the table.
OK, everyone can attend. Does it really matter? The only people who will end up attending are these so-called "elites" anyway. The point was supposed to be to unite the parties with a common vision for Canada. Not to bring back Athenian democracy. This is kind of like announcing a Dentists' convention and people complaining that it will be mostly dentists there. Obviously, if we make a summit of the parties, we will discuss problems that pertain to the parties. Once we establish some unity there, then we can worry about the country as a whole (which is plagued by inter-party strife: hence, this summit!) A massive all-citizen gathering would obviously require much more planning, thought and time. Something we're not going to have until we eliminate the animosities between parties.
By all means, though, continue denouncing the fact that we're trying to make normal discourse possible again. If you want to open it up to all people and all people's agendas, go ahead. Trust me, though, we're not going to get anything done and we'll leave thinking "God, what a stupid idea summits are. Let's go blow off some steam by attacking the parties that my president told me we don't like."
btw, what Banach said is a good idea. But it's an entirely separate suggestion from what this summit is. In fact, this summit could help enable something like a moderated citizens' council.
@petz, i have invited every political party, which helps that, but i have also invited people from different organizations such as the CAF, tco, and other departments
@everyone. Nothing bad can come out of this, at least we can say we tried.
